Back then when he was fiddling with his kaos pads and just looping the sounds he made with his mouth I could follow him what he was doing. Now --- impossibilé! It's worth noting that one can get similar results for free with the Rings and Elements clones in Cardinal/VCV Rack (named Resonator and Modal Synthesizer respectively). Definitely a bit more work to get up and running, since you have to deal with signal routing in a modular environment, but if one is used to the Reason workflow it shouldn't be too bad! Physical modeling is without a doubt the most challenging, but also most rewarding form of synthesis being broadly engaged with. Love to see creators utilizing it!

@@SyncrisisVideos I am familiar with Reason for almost 20 years now, I have a trained ear, and I'm not making things up just for the sake of it. Reason is modeled different than all the other DAWs in the market, from a creative perspective I actually like its wet, saturated sound, but as a producer its frustrating as I like to add my own saturation, warmth, wet character when, where and however much I want. Reason does that WITHOUT asking for my permission. Some say that it's modeled to sound analog, and not artificial. For specific genres you might want that, if that's your thing, but for anything else you have to look elsewhere. Again, I do like Reason for what it is, I have a ton of respect for the people behind it, but I can not consider it an actual DAW.

I figured it out! You need to set up an amp of some sort ahead of Objekt in the signal chain - route the audio out from that into Objekt - and that way you can send audio to the track that’s hosting that via Live’s routing - might be nice if @reason gave a little bit of help on this 😉😉😗

@richarquis
@richarquis Жыл бұрын
Also check out the module it was developed from - Elements, also by Mutable. I own both, and although there is a lot of overlap (Rings is essentially just the resonator section of Elements) each can do things that the other can't. Rings can mimic polyphony, so it is capable of a richer final sound, but it does not have all the input controls that Elements does - Bow, blow, and strike, which act like variations in a bow's movement over strings, airflow in a wind instrument, or the strike on a percussion instrument. Both are capable of an enormous range of sounds, but Rings has the sound that drew more people in, especially those who make ambient music. I wouldn't trade either. Both are available in VCV rack under the name Audible Instruments, along with a stack of other Mutable modules converted to soft synths.

I fell in love with reason the moment I saw the cables and the moment I found out that I can push it and push it and push it and it just keeps working. That was very long time ago I'm so glad it can be brought to other environments now as a rack type thing.

As a synth head I can agree that no other synth can sound like that without many external fx units being used and run back through each other. I do t use computers but do use synths and this makes me feel like I am missing out on so many more hours and nights of do things I could never do before
