Great show, guys! Travis, fresh sauerkraut is always the best, but after you finish what's in the fridge, there's nothing better than opening a jar and having it on a sausage or wonderful pan of spareribs! Cooking it will kill off the probiotics, too, but it's so good! As for that pickle packer, you can use that to "bruise" your cabbage when you make sauerkraut - You'll get more juice, and you'll need that if you put some up in jars. Now for those plow attachments....I'll be dogged if I can understand why someone can't figure them out. I'm no genius, but if this old lady can figure it out, anyone can! Y'all stay safe up there.

One of the first questions I asked was if y’all Georgia boys would ever write a book on gardening in the south, back than y’all said no. I like books, if you got no power you still got something to read if you got a book. I also think it’s easier to find what your looking for in a book using the table of content, you can go right to the page on whatever subject you are looking for. In a video sometimes you got to Watch half or more to get the info you are looking for. With that being said I like watching everything y’all Georgia boys put out. And will we ever get some more gardening with Greg videos?

@@gardeningwithhoss Actually, a more useful project might be to have an intern create an index of your shows. For example, an index item (such as Calcium Nitrate), then a list of show titles each followed by the time mark at which that item is mentioned.

Not sure if it's been said already, but the reason someone would prefer a book to a video (or in addition to the video) is because we may not always have the benefit of an internet connection. Both very rural people today and all of us at some point in the future, may not have a reliable internet connection or one at all. When SHTF, a book in hand can give us the information that ahs been lost due to no internet. I watch you guys all the time, but I also have a ton of magazines and books that I reference.

Sauerkraut... let me tell you the easiest way to preserve it. A few years ago I was told to freeze it... I thought it would be mush when I thawed it out ... but nope it was as crisp as when I froze it. I’ve done it that way ever since. The way I did it was put it in vacuum bags and stack them side by side in freezer til they were frozen good. Then ran them through my vacuum sealer. Works every time. Soooo good when thawed out!!!

Don't think about the ratio. Think about how many lbs of a particular nutrient you want to deliver to a given area of garden. The ratio really doesn't matter that much in a small garden setting.

We've had good luck with a tarp and till technique. Tarp the area with a black silage tarp (we carry them). Leave the tarp for a couple weeks, then pull the tarp back and till the area. Add the tarp and repeat this several times for a couple months. It will eventually eliminate the rhizomes.

Only thing wrong with the plows are the bolts. I can’t figure why one is up and one is down. And why aren’t both of them fixed. I’m a John Deere technician and rule number one is keep the threads away from the soil when possible. I’m going to take mine to work and square out the round hole in the blades so the bolt will come from the bottom. Will keep the soil out of the threads and allow me to use my impact on both bolts. Don’t have time for wrenches on a bolt full of dirt.
@gardeningwithhoss
@gardeningwithhoss 4 жыл бұрын
It has to do with our Drip Tape Layer Attachment. When using the plows in conjunction with the Drip Tape Layer Attachment, the plows sit on the back of the wheel hoe and one of the bolts sits right under the handles. So that bolt has to be pointed downwards. We made it fixed so it would be easier for customers when using that configuration. If you're just using the plows alone, it doesn't matter.

Each Wheel Hoe includes a set of cultivator teeth, but you can add whatever attachments you'd like. You can see all the models and packages here: hosstools.com/product-category/wheel-hoes/

I bought antique wheel hoe here in KS few years ago. Imagine that. It sold at an auction near Fort Riley home of the big red one. It looks to be 100 years o r more old. I like the attachment which cultivates both sides of the row in one pass. BTW IT AIN'T WORN OUT YET. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. Are you boiling Christmas candy next week. Do not burn it.

What's your recommendation about how to deal with crab grass its really thick I have been doing no till methods for 4 years now and its the only think that comes back
@gardeningwithhoss
@gardeningwithhoss 4 жыл бұрын
Crabgrass and nutgrass are one of the many reasons we don't use no-till gardening here in the south. It's tough to pull. So frequent, shallow cultivation is our preferred method to keep it from getting large and tough.

Is there any way to attach the 12" Oscillating Hoe to the High Arch Wheel Horse or should I return it and order 2 6" ones. Love my new High Arch Wheel Horse!!!!!

My bad. Your customer service emailed back almost instantly and let me know the fix. All I had to do was put my wheels closer. lol I feel stupid. I just forgot that the wheels were adjustable. Idiot. lol The Oscillating Hoe went right through my 100 foot rows and ate every weed. I did just 6 rows, but it was a lot faster than using my rototiller or farm tractor.

Hey fellas... I got a question for you when you get a chance.... now I used some calcium nitrate mixed with some microburst fertilizer today.... but I used hot water to help dissolve the cal nitrate a little moe betta.....If you use hot water with the micro boost will it hurt any of the nutrients in it? Or kill anything beneficial in it?
@mattingly1217
@mattingly1217 4 жыл бұрын
What about even boiling water?
@gardeningwithhoss
@gardeningwithhoss 4 жыл бұрын
Never used boiling water. Since the Micro-Boost is already in a liquid formulation, it should mix pretty easily. That Calcium Nitrate also seems to dissolve pretty easily. We put some in wet soil earlier today and you could see it "melting" in just minutes.

As long as you keep the teeth farther apart -- which you can do with the toolbar. You can put the teeth wherever you'd like. Just give enough room for the debris to pass through the cultivators.
