Not necessarily, there are plenty of heterosexual guys who simply believe women are beneath them. They are, either by divine decree from their religious beliefs or by the culture around them/upbringing, above women because they were born men. I know men who have been married for decades at this point, raising daughters who espouse red pill nonsense when talking about women with their like minded friends, have a childhood friend like this who I just cut off a year or so ago because he was talking that red pill horse shit. Now, you do have a fair amont of men who are in the closet, either bisexual or homosexual, regardless they have an attraction to other men that they are hiding. They've been socially conditioned to believe men only be with women romantically, anything outside that is evil, it's a sin or deviant, but the worst implication it isn't "masculine." So they get into these relationships, some of them long term, actually not wanting to be with a woman, or desiring to partner with another man, and can't for whatever reason. So yeah, there are definitely closet cases out there who are red pilled. A great tell is them constantly obsessing about LGBTQ people in casual conversations out of nowhere, no one was even talking about anything gay, but this so-called "straight guy" has to vent about some random LGBTQ stuff. So sorry, being cheated on sucks. Being betrayed by someone you trust sucks. Losing a lot of money sucks. But if the only worries you have going into a relationship or marriage are that your partner might cheat on you or take your money, don’t pretend the world is against you. If you don’t have the capacity to believe the person you’re interested in will be a faithful partner don’t date them. If you’re scared that marrying someone will put you at financial risk either get a prenup or don’t propose to them. Either find someone you can trust or reevaluate what you want from life.

So, yes his point about having a bad family relationship is insensitive, but, I somewhat agree. I don’t like calling it a red flag, but a) I think it’s valid to put consideration into what family you would be potentially marrying into. When you marry someone, you marry their family too. If she (or he or they) are no contact that’s not so much an issue. But if they’re family is awful, I think it’s reasonable to maybe not want to marry them or have a serious relationship. B) there is trauma involved there. It is possible the other person isn’t in a good place, and that should be considered case by case- not an all out dealbreaker. You should also consider if you can be a healthy person for the other. Do you have your own trauma you need to work out first? I don’t think having a fucked yo family should be a deal breaker or red flag, but I do think there are considerations to be made- and again- not just for women- for everyone. I also say this as the one in my marriage with a fucked up family. My husband definitely drew the short straw in terms of marrying into families compared to me since his parents are really great.

Honestly if you want to get really pedantic (and depressed) you could argue that, up until quite recently, marriage and motherhood was basically an extension of sex work. Daughters were born to get married as advantageously as possible. Among her duties were putting out and producing children to continue her husband's name and line. My phone is always sitting face down, for two reasons. First, it's not that I don't want other people to see my notifications, it's that *I* don't want to see my notifications. I check in at set times, reply to messages and then put it down. Otherwise I'd spend all day doomscrolling and incessantly checking if I've had replies because I'm impatient. Second, my phone is super sensitive and it lights up if I so much as lightly brush it. It's distracting, and annoying, and it makes me think I've had a message when I haven't. This compounds the first issue.

The "red flag" of not being able to see her phone screen is so stupid. I have a wallet phone so no one can see my screen anyways. Another reason they might not want their screen visible: they don't like the distraction of the screen lighting up. I don't even turn on sounds (except for media) on my phone because I hate how distracting it can be to hear your phone going off while you are trying to give someone your full attention. The added distraction of your phone lighting up can really ruin the mood when you are trying to talk to another person.
