I work as a housekeeper in a hotel, if he did this where I work, every hotel in the vicinity would be warned, and he'd be denied access anywhere else! And I really have an issue with guests who disrespect their rooms! 😤 We have to clean up after them!

As someone who currently works at a hotel overnight, who very recently had to explain to a grown woman with a child, that she could not in fact boil floor cleaner on the stove to "Make the room smell nicer"....This is absolutely not a surprise. He's also likely at an extended stay given his setup. Which are not the cleanest of places to start with. -.- Just as the staff for cook sets. Most of the time they have them, fresh out the box for ridiculously cheap rate.

@@Shinoshi04 we also don’t know if he disinfected between edits. It’s tik-tok ffs. How is bleaching a bathroom counter any worse than a kitchen one that’s had bile on it. Also, Mr Duck gets hyberbolic often about what’s actually cross contamination. Eggs are sterile and USA eggs come washed which is why they must be cold unilke European store eggs. The contaminant can still be on the shell but the chances are so low of first having salmonella, and then cross containaimng any significant amount from shell to egg is ridiculously low. I’ve had hundreds of raw eggs and never had food poisoning or barely even a bad diahrea episode. Just keep washing your hands and don’t be really obviously dumb with wet poultry and ground meat. They make sushi chicken in Japan ffs. Yes, it’s farmed to a high standard but just proves they’re not a nuclear bomb of germs. More people get sick from salads.

In all seriousness, that toilet steak was probably the safest thing I saw him make. The water in the tank is clean, and the steak was in a sealed package when he cooked it. Overall, it's not terrible compared to everything else he made. Edit: I noticed that his sous vide is set at what looks like 120 degrees. Mold is killed at 140 or higher. At 120 in that water it would most likely make the mold problem worse. However factory seals are very very good and it would keep that out. Still using a decent vacume sealer and proper sous vide bags would be better. Not only for general safety but then you can add some salt, pepper, garlic, and butter and have a very tasty steak straight out of the bag.

you’re not supposed to sous vide in the the plastic it comes in. He should have used a proper sous vide bag. I have one that uses a hand pump and works great and would fit in his little kit like a stick of gum. I actallly don’t see anything too terrible as supposed to using random counter tops in other rooms you don’t know, in the first video. It’s certainly aesthetically unappealing though. 😂 The second video is gross.

I worked at Central Station, Sydney. There was a power point in the toilet. The toilet had multiple cubicles and urinals and typically did not smell the best. Went in to clean once and there was someone with a small electric cooker making bacon and eggs.

the souvie machine does fully cook whatever you put in it theres no under or overcooking with it its perfectly safe to use if you do it correctly but he's definelty cross contaminating and probably ingesting melted plastic and microplastics along with whatever rust or bacteria is in the ice buckets, i worked in a hotel as the housekeeping manager and we do not clean ice buckets unless you do something like this with it and they usually have mold and rust buildup from the neglect and being stored in cool dark places while still wet.

Hotel/Hostel cooking is a thing (i worked for a charity who would put meal cards out, making the meal cards) they had to make a range of recipes from people who have a kitchen, to those in a hotel room or hostel with only something like a kettle to hand, they didn't mention about toilet steaks though.
