If she was for real she wouldn’t have made a response video and would have been off the internet lmao

"She's wearing the clothes, so she must be part of the plain community" is such a ridiculous argument. My Catholic ass could sit down right now, buy some cotton fabric off of Amazon and a sewing pattern off of Etsy, and sew myself a dress in that style or ten.

Agreed! You can even probably buy those outfits online, and she did work at the plain store either way so she probably would have been able to get them there!

Theres no real way to "convert" to being amish. They learn Pennsylvanian Dutch as there first language and after followinf ex amish youtubers for years NONE have every said that anyone was ever successful in converting into becoming amish. Also most have a very particular accent, and she speaks like someone who was raised going to 12th grade schools.

I attend a Mennonite church and our children often have playdates. They are kind, gentle people. They speak directly and without sarcasm. They mean what they say and they say what they mean. The congregation also gathers with others when they are in the area and of all the Mennonite I have encountered none of them came off as she does. Not saying she is or isn't but she is a little different than those I have met. Good luck to her, whatever she may do.
@uddelhexe35457 ай бұрын
Everything in her behavior is against basic principles in all of these communities. Showing off your pride via an App Like Tiktok, beefing with other people... Nope. Amish would never allow that. Idk about Menonites, but i'd guess that she'd already been cast out behaving like this and shedding a bad light on every community that she associates with.

Love this type of video! It was awesome! I live in a small town where there are known Mennonite communities around. I believe you could be married in….but I’m not sure if just anyone can decide to “join” in to being Amish. Seems very odd to me. They are a very protective group of people and not sure how welcoming it is. Side note: my mother reads books about the Amish and said you have to be born in!

@@KylaJamesevery Amish community has different rules. While some may not allow converts, others do. There is no central governing body and each community has a group of elders that decide on the rules for their community. What may be true for one community is not necessarily true for all.

I lived there for a very long time. There are many sects and ordinungs and they are all different. My children grew up with a girl who converted to a plain community in her twenties. It is very possible. Some have cell phones, especially those who work in the plain businesses. There are Old order Amish, Liberal Ordinungs, Old River Brethren, Ana Baptists, Old order Mennonite, modern Mennonite, etc.

As someone who grew up outside of a highly restrictive & highly segregated community, then got moved into one, and eventually broke out… I recognize so much of what is questionable. I wore makeup at school & talked to boys. At home & in church, I dressed and acted completely different. If I had been confronted by my family? I’d have looked like a hostage. If I had “accepted” and been absolved after being confronted? I’d look relaxed and calm. I believe it’s possible she was moved INTO a plain community, was threatened with excommunication, and had been playing up her “modern” obliviousness during previous TikToks.

I don’t ever understand how these dramas get so far. People don’t know what they’re talking about because they fail to do the basic checks and get overly invested in other people’s lives. It really wasn’t that deep. I watched a few of her first videos and I didn’t know how exactly she could be Amish and posting so I moved on. Anyone that truly believed that she was actively in the community and making on social media should probably not be on social media.

Tbh, it sounds to me like she wanted to do trad wife content but wanted some way to be unique. Plain community members wouldn't be particularly common, and most people in that niche are more people who escaped negative experience. Some of the videos sounded like she was referencing some of the trauma that those people talk about, but framing it as something she sees and is fine with. Honestly, i think if a member of the community saw her videos, they would probably be offended. Thats the big thing that makes me think shes fake.

electricity usage depends on the Mennonites and amish community she is a part of. Mennoites can be incredibly diverse, with some communities being indistinguishable from modern people (electronics, liberal values, well-educated, modern homes in cities) to stricter controls on modern life. Amish communities are a bit more similar to one another. However, they vary with usage of heating, minimal to no phone access, car usage, and modern farming equipment. The amish are well known for limiting education past 8th grade ( this was a famous Wisconsin vs. Yoder supreme court case); while many Mennonites attend college and receive advanced degrees (both men and women). I would highly recommend listening to the plains people podcast for some insight from people who lived in those communities. All amish plain dress while only some Mennonites do.
