Great video brother ! Stockers are faster no doubt. The ideology of the manufacturers weather it be automotive or off-road is to keep weight down. Automotive wise you can get another mile or two per gallon on a lighter less aggressive tread and on atvs it’s the or used to be when Yamaha had competition was the wet weight of the machine, that was the deciding factor. That being said I sacrifice acceleration and top end to ride worry ish free over logs, stumps and sharp rocks.

Who You Kidding! Every Video is Awesome! Weight is bad Enough, but Rotating Mass is Even Worse. Them Stock Tires Look Great, I looked at the Yamaha Raptors at the Dealership, and I think I'm going to put them on one of are Honda 400's when we need new tires.
@FeatheredDino3 ай бұрын
Stock tires are chosen by manufacturers with 2 goals in mind: #1 Affordability. That's why a lot of quads come with Chinese tires. #2 Versatility. They want to put tires on the quad that are good enough in a wide variety of environments. You can definitely get way better performance with aftermarket tires, because you can choose a tire based on your terrain. If you ride loose dirt, obviously paddle tires are going to be worlds better than anything stock. If you ride in very muddy terrain, obviously tires with huge knobs on them are going to do better. Etc etc
@chriscallas94832 жыл бұрын
That was interesting,. Your a very fast and consistent shifter I think that helped the test and so the times u got were consistent and more reliable.Unsprung weight like that makes the most difference too. I have x-c .masters and they do tend to roll over top of dirt rather than scooping it up. Nice vid bro.

They won't! The 2 ply radials that come on the 400ex will hook probably harder than these tires! They won't hold up, though! To soft side walls!

I have the same maxxis tires they look aggressive but there very heavy and don’t grip on the dirt at all there more for looks I’d say
@off-roadprojectsandfun6868 Жыл бұрын
I think that the XC tires have better grip but weigh more is the issue, with speed. Although the better ply rating for toughness is there for durability, they do weight more and slow the ATV down, if you were to get the XC Master grip onto a lighter tire, I think that will be quite awesome, if you can hear in the videos, the stock tires launch at a higher rpm than the XC Masters, indicating that the XCs grip better or are just heavier, or a mixture of both.

Not sure if comparing the raw physics is a fair comparison when comparing these tires for different design purposes. The GBC tires are heavier as the are design for the purpose of XC racing where tire failure is common and conditions are changing lap after lap. When ever I use stock 2 or 4 ply tires, I get flats all the time from riding hard. They are just not worth the cost and effort to gain a fraction of time quicker.
@FREEDOMSYNDICATEOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
I see your point of view. I guess what I was getting at is people always associate these tires with better performance in the sense that they'll be going faster. That's just not the case.

When the lugs are apart there is space between lugs that are just spinning and not grabbing anything
@FREEDOMSYNDICATEOFFICIAL8 ай бұрын
But on the contrary, it does allow a bigger scoop of dirt when they are further apart, which is why I think the stock tires did better

Pretty good vid bro but 90% of people run paddles in the dunes so maybe do a molded “V” paddle VS straight and stag “extreme” paddle. Maybe the shorter “hauler” paddle tire too. Just to compare really molded “V” paddle VS a buffed “straight” paddle. Just maybe choose the two tires with the same roll-out. So measure clear around them on both sets to keep everything even as much as possible. To add, that raptor needs a extra tooth on the front because u probably can’t put on a smaller rear. Regardless that thing has a lot more potential and when I bought my 700 raptors I immediately threw 1 tooth bigger on the front and it made it a lot more fun cuz they are torque monsters to begin with. 💪💪 I’m sur yours isn’t all stock so it will b even that much better. Mine were stock since I bought them new when I put the bigger one. If u think the 15 tooth is crappy out of the hole then u can throw a biggger sprocket ⚙️ on the rear. 1 in front is almost equal to losing 3 in the rear. Regardless it will make it more of a handful than what u got now! Just a lil comment love brotha’
@FREEDOMSYNDICATEOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate your post! Testing paddle tires is a great idea! I'll start pricing some now and hopefully in a few weeks I'll have the funds to purchase them! I've played around with the sprockets and I have to say the 15 tooth on the front is probably my favorite. I have gone to a 36 in the rear but it just gears it too high at that point in combination with the 15t.

Just curious does the raptor 700 deal with the running lean from factory like the yfz450? Like do u have to buy a vortex and stuff? I have a power commander 5 but people say vortex is better so I’m just wondering if the raptor has same problem lol
@FREEDOMSYNDICATEOFFICIAL2 жыл бұрын
According to my tuner at the dyno, mine was running a little bit on the richer side from factory. But each machine is different because I believe my buddy who bought the same quad the same year was running a little bit leaner because his was always a little bit faster than mine and that was with him weighing a little bit more. I believe he was running a little bit leaner because leaner conditions although are unsafe will make you a little bit more powerful.

If you ride rocky terrain you need 6ply tires for sure, it ur racing on a track 4ply is ur best bet. Yes heavier tires will take some power away, but I’d rather have thicker tires and less power for the places I ride.. also maxxis aren’t stock tires bro!!

most users have never met the engineers that design and build these machines. Once you meet one of them, *any* of them, things like this start to make sense. Take the most anal-retentive, OCD, detail-oriented person you know that keeps meticulous schedules and forgets nothing. Imagine that person, multiply those abilities by 10, and make them Japanese. They not only think of everything, they imagine their products being used by ADHD 15 year olds with endless supplies of money, resources, and zero law...
