The best thing that I have found is cotton washcloths. When ready to launder put them in the washing machine with about a cup of hydrogen peroxide along with your detergent. Use your laundry soak cycle for at least 15 minutes, using cold water. Yes, I said cold water because hot water will set stains, if you are concerned about that. Don't use fabric softener because that will make them less absorbent. You should never use fabric softener for towels anyway. Also dry on delicate. Yes, you heard me. delicate! Try it and your towels will stay like new.

Exactly right,i do the same thing. Hardly ever buy toilet paper anyway, keep that for guests to use. T.P uses too many resources,and clogs up the sewer system along with so called flushable wipes that mix with fats and cause 'fatburgs' in the sewers here in the U.K. 🙂❤️

Dollar General... Scott Comfort Plus TP. 12 packs are $5 each or (2) for $8. So, you buy (4) packs. Thats $16, but, you get an instant $3 off for spending $15 on Scott brand, that lowers them to $13. If you goto Scott. com, Kleenex. com, or Cottonelle. com, you can print $1 off 1 coupons. You can only print 2 per site, so you have to use 2 of those web sites. $13 - (4) $1 coupons = $9 for (4) 12 packs. Thats 48 rolls. Most Saturdays, the store also has a coupon for $5 off $25. So, if you add other items, that you need, to make your total $28, (because the $3 comes off automatically and your total has to be $25) your (4) $1 off coupons will come off the total, then, the $5 off $25 will come off, giving you $28 worth of stuff, for $16 + tax, and thats assuming, you have no other coupons. - Or - On a Saturday that the store runs the $5 off $25 deal, If you can print from 2 different devices at home, (library computers work too ), then you print (8) $1 Scott Comfort Plus Coupons. Grab (8) 12 packs of Scott Comfort Plus. That's $32 - $6 instant savings = $26 - $8 printed coupons = $18 - $5 off $25 = $13 for (8) 12 packs or 96 rolls. Thats a Stick up price.

Julie, THANKS for sharing! We raised our infants with cloth diapers....back in the 1900's LOL We, at times were even using re-usable cotton female pads. There are very affordable water toilet seat conversions that jet the water, and I've heard....supposedly popular in Europe. We own a cleaning business and I've seen 2, installed, functioning, but cannot attest that they have been a long time in operation. ( NOT endorsing purchasing any ) Personally I tried them both out ( once ). In the washing department - We've been in camping situations and used the 5 gallon bucket, and toilet plunger washing machine ( $5 budget model ) easily resourced from a local hardware store . Concerning washing and bleach, we have found that vinegar can be an alternative to using bleach. IF allergies and safety concerns lead a person in the most natural direction possible this is something to consider. It is one of the ingredients we use in our Sanitizer's we have been making and using daily for 8 yrs. PLEASE keep sharing your smile and helpful tips!!!!

Maroxa Mawson no a lot of people still don’t have a way of washing things by hand. I calculated cloth diapering but it costs me $5 to wash a load of laundry since I don’t have my own washer & dryer. It would have cost me more to do cloth diapering. I tried to wash my clothes in the tub when I didn’t have enough quarters for laundry but they did not get very clean. I went to hang them to dry on my balcony but was given a warning by my apartment management and was going to get fined $50 if I didn’t take them down. I don’t have a place to hang clothes inside & I live in a humid place where during some parts of the year clothes will get moldy before they actually dry. You don’t seem to understand that being able to cloth diaper in some situations is a privilege.

You make perfect sense. I had thought of a similiar thing as an alternative for TP. When we think how much TP is flushed into the system, we do need think of another way with the overwhelming disposal of our huge waste. The other alternative is to use the shower after using the toilet. Most showers have hand-held shower heads, and with the use of cut-up sheets or some form of cloth (a second hand-cloth), you can wash what you need to with this option. When I was a baby, I wore white terry-cotton nappies, and they were lightly rinsed (certain contents disposed of ), then placed in a solution to soak. They were then washed and dried in the sun on the clothes-line. I never had nappy rash. It does take more time, and this is the issue with our present society. The generations today just rely on disposable nappies far too much. Far too much waste. Plastics are another issue. We need to change the way we do things. Love your sensible video. From Australia with thanks.

Fun fact: I believe it takes 1.5 pounds of wood, 37 gallons of water (plus electricity) to make ONE roll of toilet paper. They bleach it white when it's about to go in the sewer and use tons of fuel to transport it. It's really pretty ludicrous.
@leighsutherland62224 жыл бұрын
That does not make sense. Get the facts before posting. It is not bleached right before it goes into the sewer!
@anonymousanomaly95384 жыл бұрын
@@leighsutherland6222, I'm not sure what doesn't make sense to you. Standard, super white TP that most of us are used to is, of course, bleached. Immediately after use, it is then flushed into the sewer. You can do a search for "unbleached toilet paper" (as well as other unbleached paper products) if you need a comparison. Perhaps consider toning down the condescension; it's really not necessary or right to speak down to one another. Patient guidance, suggestion and correction is a pretty great way to operate.

This is a great electric free solution but another cheap solution if someone wanted a bidet is a bidet attachment for existing toilets. Amazon has one for like 40 bucks. That requires installing and does hot and just normal tap (for lots of places right now ice cold). For right now this makes more sense but for a cheap long term solution you could install a bidet attachment to your own toilet get a bidet without having to install a whole new expensive toilet.
@Satters4 жыл бұрын
check your local regulations first, such an attachment is not normally legal under UK water bylaws due to the risk of back-siphonage and supply contamination,
@SunnieDIY4 жыл бұрын
@@Satters wow that's odd this one is attached to the sink water to spray not the toilet bowl water in any way. It is important to check though. Here its legal. My only issue is my sink is against the other wall and my shower is next to the toilet so in order to use the splitter it would be to the toilet (before it goes into the water storage in the toilet) and it's too cold here in Maine for that lol. Or just out of the tap water is icy cold lol.

I even thought about using one of those plastic 2 gallon sprayers for weed killing. You can pump the handle to get some good pressure and it has a nice long hose with a trigger on the end and is bent at a good angle. Get them pretty cheap at Lowes Garden Center or Harbor Freight. I still have toilet paper, so I haven't tried it yet. Water and baking soda mixed in might be a good way to feel clean. I'd probably pat dry with a toilet paper square sized tee shirt piece... that'd make for a more manageable wash cycle if you're washing once a week and need to clean 3 poop sessions a day times the number of peeps in your household. And be sure to spray at an angle not directly underneath or you get poo drippings ON your spray wand (which you could rinse away in the sink, but why go there if you don't have to). And for Heavens sake stop buying toilet paper unless your 12 pack is half way gone through. The Bible says prefer others over yourself.... let others get a chance at getting some paper, and don't buy extra in case you need to help someone else out. If we all just buy what we personally need then those others will be able to get theirs too. All this just goes to show how much we've become dependent on China and other countries. Let's MAGA and re-elect Trump who has done an awesome job at keeping us safe.

Would love to see you do a cold pull start video on your water pump, chainsaw and any other machines you use to show how many pulls it takes you to get them started and running when the engines haven't been started for awhile okay?

great request....have you watched any Wranglestar videos? He should have, and would probably reply to such a request. I think he is sponsored - endorsed by a wide variety of gas powered equipment. I like his no nonsense way of sharing and unbiased reviews of essential tools. JULIANNE may already have something in her archives also!

gfw2 Thanks gfw2! Yes, but I’m only interested in seeing how many pulls it takes a female not a guy to get those gas powered machines started and running when the engine are cold and haven’t been started for awhile understand?

Some water bottles have a squirt cap. That'll work. Great video

Using family cloth is a great alternative but please explain to children that family cloth cannot be flushed. Let them know If they drop the cloth in the toilet by accident that they need to ask for help and you will help them

Most toilet paper is 2 or 3 ply so if you split it and fold it for use it should last twice as long as normal. Same with facial tissues which if cut in half are usually adequate

Great idea. I will get one... plug the main hole with super glue and use a torch to heat up a screw driver metal tip to add holes to the side of the tip so that the water comes out at the angle for the butt.

Hmmm, interesting idea.
@alicedenise57222 жыл бұрын
@@dirtpatcheaven works like a charm except the super glue didn't plug the main hole so I just used a torch to heat the tip of the bottle where the hole is and it melted the plastic and that plugged the hole. Then made 3 holes on the side of th tip using the heated up screw driver tip and now I got myself two bidets for $1.25 woo hoo! Thank you ✌️☺️

It is important that the cotton be 100%. Polyester cotton won't do as good a job. Flannelette is nicest.

When we were in elementary school, we would take writing paper, and crumple and uncrumple it repeatedly. This action would make the paper fibers break down, thusly making the writing paper very soft. To us we could make our own toilet paper. I actually tried using it and it worked wonderfully.
