I lived in England for a while where gardeners are like royalty. One that I got so many great ideas from demonstrated how she trellises her tomatoes using the string and every week or so she'd walk out and twizzle the new growth around the string. Twizzle. Never forgot that.

The English have wonderful expressions.

Nice idea laying them on the ground. I use the string method on northeastern coast.

Hi! I like this idea. I would also really like you to demonstrate your wire and posts installation and also your trellises in the background. Like, when you plan a garden what supports do you plan along with the plants to support them. What else can you use this tomato clip idea on? Cucumbers? Thanks.

I started stringing my tomatoes 2 seasons ago, using your previous videos on this topic for great information. BEST method ever. I'll never go back! Thank you!

Outstanding! That's exactly how I felt. It's so superior to any other method I've tried that I designed my entire garden around it. It's just the best!

I have a similar setup with the same tomato hooks. Have you ever experienced the wind knocking the tomato Hook off of The wire though? We had some wind yesterday and mine fell off. I don't have them clipped to any tomatoes yet though will the weight of the tomato pulling down on it help keep it stable on the wire?

Love your garden set up. Feel free to come to my garden and set up something similar. 😂😂

I still have mild PTSD from what I went through building that garden in a few weekends to get it ready for the season. So many posts...

👍 all your videos are great ! Please tell me you have changed your mind to all hybrid tomatoes this year and have some heirlooms
@2MinuteGardenTips2 жыл бұрын
I think I'm only growing 3 heirloom tomatoes this year. Heirlooms don't grow well here aside from 1 or 2 exceptions. They're too disease prone for my climate. I have to grow heat tolerant F1's, usually, to have a decent harvest.

Do you have a video on setting up the tall poles for trellising? I would like to use this method, but don’t have the set up.

Yes. I show you how I did it on my main channel here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nanVcq1ul7yAjq8

@@2MinuteGardenTips Thank you so much! I’m saving the video for next year. I started my garden extremely late this year and was so anxious to get my plants in the garden beds that I couldn’t wait anymore.😬

Do you cut off the stems that are still touching the ground after you tie them up?
@2MinuteGardenTips2 жыл бұрын
Once there is enough foliage above for photosynthesis to occur, yes. When the plants are very young like this, it can be stressful to remove more than one or two branches at a time. You generally don't want to remove more than 10-20% of a plant at any given time or it can be stressful.

Can this be used for pole beans.
@2MinuteGardenTips2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you would need a lot of them. Usually, pole beans grow well on those fabric garden trellises you can buy for like $9 on Amazon. They're like a giant net. But if you can't support those, these will work.

So I just wanted to ask I uncovered my fig tree and it’s totally molded, it might be dead! What did I do wrong?? No air flow?? I live in Long Island New York . I waited to open it up cause the weather was so irrattic
@2MinuteGardenTips2 жыл бұрын
How did you cover it? If you covered it in such a way that didn't offer sufficient cold protection, the wood likely died back, then began decaying and rotted. Simply covering a fig tree won't do much, because trees produce no body heat, so covers just freeze through. You need a thermal mass or heat source for protection. Just subscribed to this channel, and your main channel today. First, it looks like you've invested thousands of dollars into your gardens. Second, your raised beds look no deeper than 12 inches at most. Is that deep enough for most vegetables, especially tomatoes? I have raised beds. They're 24 inches deep, if not more. Yes, it cost a lot to fill them with soil but I don't worry much about having sufficient soil depth
