I have the carbide Spyder kit as well and it's excellent. I also paid $70 on sale for it and it has more sizes. Don't get me wrong, Diable is awesome but for 1/3 the price I like Spyder better this time.

I rarely hole saw but Vince, that feature of removal is great. I HATE digging out that stupid chuck of circular wood. It's a royal pain and I use the screw trick where you drive a screw in there to force it out. That's SO much better. Shout out for the Diablo pruning blades for a recip saw. Turns my saw into an electric chainsaw (I just hate chainsaws).

Diablo already has that arbor system. Its ok with the smaller size hole saws but once you make the hole drilling down on an existing wood or metal top plate the mandrel can release the bit in to the wall cavity. Then you are sol

My cousins husband in Southern California used to work for them. I was envious of a few of my relatives close with them because he was always hooking them up with sawzall and circular saw blade variety pack promos they might be giving out at sponsored events. I wasn’t given the best description of why he was let go, but it sounded like they were gutting some teams almost overnight and cutting a bunch of the bloat. I’m sure it had to do with a narrative like; my Sherona/corona had a bit of a negative effect and the stock holders weren’t getting their typical 30-&40% return on their investment. So they did the true American way and shit canned off the main characters right after they were done mounting them just to be sure the ultra rich get even more $$$. The main detail I almost forgot about was that my cousins hub was on the road and was taking lunch when he was called and notified of his termination. Then 10 minutes later he got a call back asking if he would be willing to drive the company truck across town…blah blah blah. He told them to pound sand and get yourself!! It wasn’t much, but at least it was something!! I had a lot of respect for Diablo, and now that rep has been tarnished unfortunately. I do still like a lot of their products though

So the only gripe i have with the diablo set up is if you are using a hole saw smaller than the mandril you will not be able to drill through a double top/bottom plate. The mandril will literally prevent the hole saw from going through.

The arbor being bigger than the hole saw limits the thickness of the material you can drill through. If im roughing in waterlines and i have to drill through a double top plate with that system i cant. Diablo makes great stuff but theres a reason why you use smaller arbors for smaller hole saws.

That style of holesaw system is nothing new. For over a decade my go to system was the reload. Dunno if you have those in the states, but the only propriatary things are the arbour and the click in base. The arbour can accept whatever pilot bit you choose, and you can buy as many click in basses you like and use whatever your preffered brand of holesaw or whatever is convenient. So you arent tied to the 1 manufacturer.

So Diablo finally caught up to Spyder and even doubled their price for less product cause that makes every contractor jump up and down with excitement. I am certain these are amazing as Diablo usually is when it comes to saw blades (as they should since they specialize in saw blades). But Vince I’m not sure if KZbin has got you out of touch but $200 for 7 pieces vs $130 for 14 pieces with the exact same quick connection system seems like Diablo need to stop screwing contractors because their crap smells the same as anyone else’s.

@@VCGConstruction Spyder is not budget it’s the Diablo equivalent for Lowes as a specialty saw blade and accessory item offering and the prices are usually comparable. I like most contractors prefer properly priced tools, not tools relying on brand recognition to gouge prices. I have many top tier tools from brands like Milwaukee, Dewalt and yes even Diablo some costing me quite a lot of money but were reasonably priced even at full MSRP compared to their competitors even the so called budget brands. But to literally copy with a few minor differences another brand then double the price of any of its competitors all while offering less product is insulting to even Diablo loyalists. We (me and my coworkers) have been using the Spyder kit for years now and it has been amazing and completed all we have asked of it without issue or complaint. I would love to see one of your honestly amazing videos (which I use before I buy tools and accessories) comparing the 2 and see if I am just off base with my opinion and Diablo is truly worth the price or not. I will happily eat my humble pie and replace my personal 8 year old bi- metal Milwaukee kit with the new Diablo one.

@@allenkolle8774 we are non stop with work but the hole saws aren’t used every job. However we have used them on all the materials they claim to work with. I have only had bad luck with their driver bits. All of the saw blades and grinder wheels have been high quality. We have commercial Lowe’s account so most of our tools and accessories are from Lowe’s. We have used quite a few Spyder products with no issues.
