One thing you'll really notice in this video is that I check, check and triple check those NAND rails. DO IT!!!!

It's interesting how you always say "we got lucky", because in my head I'm thinking the customer got really lucky, both in the sense that they chose to send it to a true repair tech with tons of MacBook expertise, and that the data was recoverable. I wouldn't count what you do / did as luck by any means! It takes a LOT of experience, knowledge and understanding in order to do a good fix. Luck would be if someone just at random picked a cap to delete and a device started working again, without any diagnosing procedure. Awesome work Paul, as always

Live streams are few and far between as of late; will be trying to rectify that but certainly for now edited editions of what gets done will have to keep you happy :) Many thanks for the Super!

Thanks for this one Paul, i've still got my A2141 sat waiting for me to tear into it. It's been on the back burner for some time now but seeing you tackle and succeed on this one gives me a little hope.

Thank you for the video. Only 40k subscribers to enjoy the expertise, and the methodical and systematic approach, versus millions of subscribers on some other channels that offer profound BS pandering to the masses. We truly live in an upside-down world.

Just the way it goes. I have a video coming out soon I hope that'll at least capitalise more on that kind of trend, though for a good reason.

That was a great video on what liquid damage can cause. I want one of those little air pens they are awesome.

Fortunately they're relatively cheap and available everywhere. Simply an airbrush compressor with a 3 litre tank and a normal airbrush/paint attachment; works well.

Yes, a lot of little hiccups all over the place - hopefully cleared enough of them so that when it gets back to the B2B all can be recovered as required.

Brilliant work! Really admire your patience. How will this customer treat his device next?
@pldaniels2 ай бұрын
Good question! With this particularly B2B I believe they do data recovery and the client is explicitly moved to a new machine.

Maybe one day I'll get down that path of actually revitalising the boards after they've been repaired. At this stage mostly they get fixed for data and then afaik the customers move on to new machines and no-fix (no data) ones are left in their cupboards for years :\

I have a question. I've never been involved in a public facing business. When it becomes a recovery, what actually happens regarding the data, device, and customer? Do you or the original business take care of data recovery and then hand the machine back with no warranty, or...?
@pldaniels2 ай бұрын
"It depends". In this case, customer-facing B2B does the backup and then usually migrates customer to a new machine. *Sometimes* if things are very high risk I'll be given the required credentials to make a failsafe backup locally to fall back on if the device fails again by the time it gets to the B2B.

Broccoli is good for you, keeps you regular 😎. I would argue the dielectric material has a larger influence over ESR than the maximum voltage rating. The PINK marker of DOOM; love it. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rainy day (another hurricane heading to the Gulf of Mexico) which makes it a good day to practice SMD removal and replace. It's finding the correct air flow to keep parts from flying away to the 9th dimension sometimes difficult 😮. I must learn to be calm as you are; I use a few more expletives than you 😂.
