Having a pair of rookie superstars on the team would be great. It would harken back to the days when we had Rice and Lynn in the outfield. Those were great days.

I really like his humbleness and makeup. Seems ahead of the curve in maturity. My guess is that he can make adjustments pretty easily. I have him rated higher than Anthony and Mayer. I was unaware he had played 3B. Now I understand why Breslow isn’t particularly excited about taking on Bregman’s contract demand.
@tommcintyre839115 күн бұрын
Only 5 games at 3B, though three of those came during his 15-game stint in AAA. Mostly, he started 2024 divided between 2B and CF, then shifted to mostly SS toward the end of 2024.

With Vaughn Grissom, David Hamilton and Wilyer Abreu on the MLB roster, they provide the Red Sox the flexibility and opportunity to promote Kristian Campbell and Roman Anthony sometime starting around mid May in order for the team to take full advantage of team control over these two, up and coming, future potential stars ... Red Sox Nation should be quite excited about the nucleus of excellent young talent coming together at Fenway for the foreseeable future ... Definitely reminds me when Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera and Bernie Williams formed the backbone of the Yankees championship run back in the 1990's ...

I think the current youthful "Go Go" Red Sox have the upside opportunity to exceed the accomplishments of our previous four World Series championship 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018 ball clubs ...

The problem with promoting Campbell and Anthony in mid May is that it disqualifies both of them from earning the Red Sox an extra draft pick via the Prospect Promotion Incentive, should one of them win AL Rookie of the Year. That'll give the Sox an incentive to bring one or both of them up by mid April. Fortunately, much of their roster still has minor league options, including Grissom, Hamilton, and others (even Yoshida). While it might be an insult to some of those guys to see those exercised, it's a way they can bring up Campbell and Anthony early while holding on to other young talent.
@tsid16015 күн бұрын
@@tommcintyre8391 Good to know that the team has other options to carefully consider regarding the MLB promotions of their modern day version of the "Gold Dust Twins" ... Definitely would want them to potentially earn an additional draft pick ...

The overwhelming reason I keep hearing Arenado angpd Bregman attached to Boston with Anthony Campbell Mayer and Grissom ready or nearly ready to debut is the assumption that these players will have an adjustment period to MLB pitching and 162 games. Regardless of when they debut there will be an adjustment period. Some may be weeks and some may be like Duran with the chance that one turns out to be a 4A player like Dalbec. Regardless, starting the future ASAP is what I hope we get from the front office. Campbell can move to the OF to allow Grissom his opportunity to see if he can play at the MLB level. I love a Wong Casas Grissom Devers Story Campbell Duran Anthony team with Yoshi at DH. Rafaela is a super utility player and Abreu gets traded for a RP. Sign Scott and trade Abreu and either Perales or Fitts with another guy on the 40 man roster who will not make the opening day roster..,,Guerra? Sox should simply bite the bullet on Yoshi. They barely spent anything in FA. Pittsburgh needs offense. Eat half his salary and get a Murth or Solometo back.

Fantastic podcast today. I saw Kristian Campbell at both Portland and Worcester and he just mashes the ball. His fielding is solid too. I predict both he and Roman Anthony make this team out of Fort Myers. Let them play. They will be better than anyone they can acquire now. Campbell and Rafaela are going to light this team up in 2025.

versatility is awesome and as long as he can hit in the big leagues with some power I'm sure AC will find a way to get him in the lineup

What's important is the kid generates power to all fields without over trajectory. What this means is that he generates power while his swing gets more or the strike zone. He has probability of hitting home runs while hitting for average because or this.

I saw his 2024 spray chart somewhere recently. Dots spread out evenly over the whole field. Also spread out evenly over the fence. His use of every part of the field has got to be part of the reason for his high BABIPs and batting averages.

With that abundance of young talented outfielders and the incredible potential and ability married with the need for a second baseman and a right handed bat Campbell starting at 2B in 2025 is the biggest no brainer of this off season to my mind

I’ve heard that his teammates refer to Campbell as Barry Bonds, I saw a sports reporter compare him to a young Daryl Strawberry - who the older subscribers of your channel remember. If Abreau is traded, and Rafaela struggles at the plate I could see an outfield of Campbell, Duran, Anthony going left to right. Depending on how Rafaela does I could see a Worcester demotion to work on his chasing and whiff issues. With all these new outfielders coming up Rafaela may end up being a high impact utility guy in 2026, as I have to assume Refsnyder is gone after this year.

Anthony and Campbell are like Lynn and Rice potentially. To make it happen people need to be traded (assuming no major injuries). There's a logjam (Yoshida). Thanks Corbin! The reason I'm a mostly against 'the right handed bat' thing is we probably already have that with Campbell! It's a risk pushing him. I still wanna do it!!!!!
@laff00015 күн бұрын
I would hope that if Campbell meets all of everyone 's expectations that the front office will also rise to the moment and sign him up long term to a decent contract. There are lingering negative aftereffects of the Mookie Betts situation and not signing and retaining our homegrown stars set a bad precedent.
@tommcintyre839115 күн бұрын
Regarding the timing of his arrival, I compare Campbell's timeline to Mookie Betts' because the minor league progressions have been so similar (their totals for AA games, plate appearances, and counting stats were almost identical). Betts was a mid-season callup after 45 games in AAA. Campbell has only had 15 games in AAA. However, you have to think he'll be playing spring training games with the major league club, and it's common to see good prospects get around 23 games in during that time. If he impresses there, he could break camp with the Sox, or be given another week or so in AAA. They would need to bring him up during the first two weeks if he is to qualify to earn the Red Sox a draft pick via the Prospect Promotion Incentive. I think he'll meet that timeline.

I got him playing 2B and batting 2nd come opening day. I expect a 2o-20 guy as a rookie in 2025. If they pick up another bat and glove at 3B. (Arenado? Bregman?) I could see Anthony playing CF and Rafaella as a super-utility player. Of course, there are no guarantees that they will not struggle out of the gate. Duran's third attempt was the charm, even still, these two prospects could be generational talents and the more they play, the quicker they'll work out the kinks of MLB. I'll settle for two very good players this year and candidates for Rookie of the Year. They are ready.

Great example is jurikson profar who just broke out when he was a top prospect at least 5 years ago. Byron Buxton is another "failed" #1 overall prospect. There is just so much in play that can happen or not happen

If he starts the season with the Red Sox, I would bet he would hit 20 homers. He is a good contact hitter which will make him better than O'neil. Sometimes, they needed a hit not a homer and the Sox got a strike out. I think Casas and Story will help make up the difference in Homers that they lose with O'neil. I do not think the Sox will push him. But, they may not keep him down. I can see him starting the season on the Sox. I think Grissom is pencilled in as the ipening day 2nd baseman unless it is Hamilton. I look at Campbell and Anthony is going to be like 1975 when the Red Sox added Freddy Lynn and Jim Rice.

I hope the socks don’t play games with Campbell and Anthony by keeping them in the minors. They definitely show that they can skip AAA. It’s bull crap if they don’t elevate them to the major league roster, especially if they’re not gonna sign any buddy the rest of the off-season. I have no idea what they doing with shortstop. That’s been up in the air for a while so whatever they do there doesn’t surprise me but these two guys they better put on the roster. It’s ridiculous to keep them down in the minors let them show us what they can do if they can’t do it after a month or two, then you can send them down, but give them a chance the fans want to see them like I said Mayerseems weird. They don’t talk much about him. triple AAA is just for calling people up that you need to fill spots. A good player. Doesn’t need to go to Triple AAA.

Can he hit a major league curveball? That was the downfall of many highly touted prospects. Sox need to decide if he or some of the other top prospects such as Mayer or Anthony will fit in. Story has 3 years left and is doubtful to opt out due to previous injury history. We have the Guerrero possibility out there, and if we could package a Campbell, Mayer or Anthony that will make a team contemplate taking yoshida’s contract in the deal. I’m all for prospect hype, but if you can roll him into a trade for multiple time all star, I wouldn’t bat an eyelash.

Campbell is MY personal #2. Most of the time, I agree with these prospect assessments, but I'm constantly making changes every other day and during the season Sox Prospects fall a month behind their re-assessments. There are several players I really like that are ignored by Sox Prospects and vice-versa. I take into consideration where the player was chosen in the draft, MiLB success, instincts and scouting reports. Size matters most of the time.
