When I heard this song for the first time I was with my boyfriend at the time. His daughter was 9 and a Britney Spears fan, as were many girls…. So the song was just on the radio and I was so blown away that I sat down and listened spellbound…. I knew immediately that I would listen to this song many more times... When I came back to my friend the next day, his daughter jenny was already standing at the door and then she said to me with a mysterious smile: "I have something for you" ...., she pushed a small flat package across the table , I removed the paper and then I held in my hand this CD with HERO by Enrique…., I was totally amazed and asked her: how did you come up with this song? and she said, "I watched you yesterday listening to him...." the relationship with her father ended a long time ago, but whenever Jenny and I meet somewhere (accidentally - today she is a beautiful, intelligent young woman) the memory of this moment comes back immediately, I'm still happy that we always had a good connection to each other

Looks like an undercover op in which the man falls for the bad guys broad, both do a runner equally for a better life, but he knows it isn't to be and calls in sacrificing himself for her in the video. Got to catch the bad guy in the act. His father was my mums love, Julio. His songs were from the time. Raunchy but milder. Try 'To all the girls I loved before' with him and Willie Nelson. Enrique had other hits, I remember 'Bailamos', 'Escape' and 'I love to see you cry'.

It's hard for me to listen to this. The man I was in a relationship with for ten years was battling alcohol addiction, we lived in Florida but to get clean he went to Michigan where his family was and went to rehab. He was afraid I would leave him but I promised him I would there waiting to just concentrate on getting clean. After taking him to the airport when I got home I found a note he had left for me saying he loved me and wanted to get married and he said he was going to make it, he wanted to be my hero and told me to listen to this song. He did great for a while but one day left rehab and one of his brothers went looking for him and finally found him in the woods near their family farm where they hunted all their lives. He had made a makeshift noose from sheets and hung himself in a tree, he had committed suicide. He had left a letter for me where it could be found and his brother sent it to me. He was telling me he was so sorry but the he had been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver that had advanced quickly and he could not take the pain anymore. He said over and over he was sorry he couldn't be my hero and he was letting me down. I grieved over that man so long and still miss him and wish I could have let him know he was my hero and always would be. People that commit suicide think the only one they are hurting is themselves but the ones that love them they leave behind go through some much pain when they are gone. 😞😞

Oh my gosh sweetie! All my love to you. Just remember he loved you to the end.. he's still with you, watching over you and comforting you when you need him most. I'm so genuinely sorry for your loss. ❤ I have a similar story. My boyfriend of 10 years got addicted to pain meds when he got in a car wreck and almost lost his foot.. they were able to save it but he had a lot of pain.. 5 years of pain pills turned into shooting heroin because it was cheaper for him.. well dec. 29 2021 he was found alone in his parents house (they had both passed so he inherited it) he spent all his money on heroin so he had no running water, electricity, food, nothing. The cops found him overdosed on the floor. He was too far gone to try to save. That was the love of my life.. i feel like i failed him because I tried everything i could to get him help. He just wasn't ready to change for himself yet.
