Honestly I don't like comments like this. Cause yea, have I seen oak trees with limbs that are more than some of those entire trees? Yes. But is that relevant to him in the mountains of the PNW? no. His equipment is tuned for what he was, and in the enviornment he has its more than adquate. to compare it to another region is simply silly.

He was the one that tried to point out that east coast guys dont know what large trees are or how to deal with them. Did you watch the video? He made a joke I made a joke. If you cant handle that than i suppose you need to go back to watching sesame street, might be more of your speed.

Grandfather owns a 4-7 acre lumber yard and their are some pretty big trees and some small ones but he used a 32in bar like that for all trees and has no problems. Cody is just saying that he needs that and that's what his load out is designed for. I hate it when people try to prove someone wrong, it's just a matter of opinion. But there are smaller and bigger trees on each coast. it's just what you need and want.

I've had a grapple on my tractor for 5 years and is the best money I've spent towards property maintenance. firewood logging and processing is so easy now. I've managed to reclaim about 3 or 4 acres of field that had been over taken by brush. It has more than paid for itself . Great purchase Cody.

Hi Cody, I have been watching your videos for quite a while now, a year or two. I am an arborist in Ontario. I enjoy watching most of your content, especially the tree related stuff. I also quite enjoy the builds and fabrication stuff. My favourite aspect of what you do is that you attempt everything and explain your knowledge. You never claim to be a pro, but I've come to learn that you are usually correct and on track. Your family is adorable. I have 2 little girls myself. Thank you for REAL stuff. Cody, could you do a detailed video (or series) on the tractor? I have an old DB 990 and when I started out I really struggled to find decent videos on youtube on tractors. I think people would love to hear you describe the features, controls, 3 point linkage, PTO etc.. why you choose the model you did? a basic tutorial etc. loads of scope. Love your videos, beautiful place. I noticed u have your hydraulic lines on your grapple running in one of the holes of the grapple itself, might want to rethink that, if one branch breaks a line it would be an unpleasant day. You can tell he's making videos for years as the quality is so good. Cody's embracing new technology to constantly up the look of the videos, it is even more impressive. When you stop and think about the fact that these videos are written, directed, performed by, edited, filmed (by multiple cameras; stationary, flying and sometimes carried), and music selected and incorporated over the video in less than 24 hours, it is nothing short of amazing. Additionally, he's actually accomplishing truly hard work at the homestead!

Im from SW Pennsylvania and would love to have a 32" bar on a big 70+ cc saw. I have a nice walnut log in my yard ready for milling but my 036 Pro with 21" ES bar wont be anywhere near long enough. The guys over here are convinced a 16" homeowner saw will do everything. Once had a guy scoff and tell me if i needed a 24" bar to cut trees down, then i shouldnt be cutting those trees down. All because i told him i didnt want to buy his POS MS290 that was beat to crap and he still wanted $300...

ontarioknivesNS7 that 036 Will turn at least a 24 inch bar fine. that's what I use for my middle saw. I need a big one for cottonwood around here but 24 inches is fine for the smaller stuff. that would give you a few more inches cut without having to back cut too.

He wanted $300 because it's one of them there Steal Saws! Funny how some of these "experts" rate & judge a saw by the length of the bar! Heck, you could hang a 36" bar on a Pull-on "Wild Thing". Of course, then you would need a matching 36" Kentucky chain to run on it. That's 114 drive links with 1 tooth on it. :-P

Wow that tractor is a beast! A real game changer for your homestead. Also your movie making has really improved to near professional level. You utilize that drone well. It's like you have an entire camera crew.

I was actually surprised that you only just got that tractor now. I've been saying to myself it would be useful on your homestead for a while. Glad to se you like it and see how well its doing for you guys. Better than borrowing your neighbors? Lol, that front plow will do good to level a large area of ground too

At 3:16. Spray the connectors with a corresponding colour. For easy change of Tools and no mix up. Red for pressure, blue for return oil or whatever colour you prefer.

new and old tech pressure is normally a male connecter, and return is a female. So you can't mix them up

William. Sometimes there are more than 2 connectors. As in my case. Just trying to make things easier.

I so enjoy watching your videos Cody, I really have enjoyed the newly added drone footage. You take great care in the great responsibility of being a good teacher. Watching the chips, as they come out of a chainsaw, tells me whether or not my saw is still sharp. As I've learned to expect by your good character, your chips were evenly large, showing that your saw had been cared for and was sharp, ready for the task at hand. Please keep up the good work, as I know it must take a lot of your time to create these videos. And also I thank you for sharing so much of your life with us as interested viewers. God bless you and your family brother, and have a very merry Christmas!

The next modification you should look into for that tractor is the "Byte Tyte" aluminum chainsaw scabbard that you can mount wherever you want and it safely carries your chainsaw along... They are available at Madsens logging supply. I have one I integrated into my spare tire carrier on my Wrangler for bringing a saw along on the trail and its great... might be handy when you are using the brush grapple and don't have the standard loader bucket to pack tools in. I believe its Made in USA as well... Its like a chainsaw version of your Grizzly peak ent. scabbards.

Wow, no more yarding with your truck wench, cables and snatch blocks. Be careful, don't get to spoiled on us. Seriously though, I'm happy for you. I remember the old days when we didn't have things like snap fit hydraulic connections. Congratulations on your tractor and attachments. Whens Mrs. W going to start using it?

Scott, snatch blocks and cable saved me from a very expensive tow call. Likely would have had to hire a Skidder instead of a tow truck plus float charges to bring it in. A single lane road through a wet area give out and my Mack straight truck kinda got stuck. I had so many part lines it looked like a string game that my 3/4 ton 4WD pulled it out on the first pull.

I used to call my cars by the size and color, little red, toyota, big blue, van and such, so I like the suggestion of little red. Also being an DS9 fan defiant kind of reflects your life style, defying the "norms" and homesteading. :) Either one would be fitting in my mind. :)

Check out the DEMO-DOZER, three implements in one with many uses, no need to have separate grapple, dozer, and loader. Sure it may be made for skid steer but your Yanmar has the same tool attachment coupler.

Joshua, in some machinery circles they call it a 4-Way Bucket which makes for a great multi purpose machine. Whether it be gravel, boulders or logs it's there on your machine. Sh' that minimizes attachment purchases.

Cody I can't say enough how much you are doing a fantastic job on your cinematography. The sequence in the beginning of going up into and above the clouds I was just awww struck! So Cool, as well as cycling through your angles and keeping it fresh and interesting! Awesome job Cody! As for the name of the tractor, I love the "Defiant"

I just reached the entire DS9 series on Netflix. The Defiant sounds like the perfect name. I'm surprised that any logger would argue about that with all the timber you have. As you said though, the "forum experts" all have an opinion. Looking forward to seeing how that snow mover does and how the short logs look!
