Such an underrated trail. Rode this for the first time a few weeks back in similar conditions and would have to agree, probably in my top 3. Really want to make the trip back when there's more moisture. Super clean riding as per usual!!!

Couple questions for you if you don’t mind, Dale. 1. When was the last time you _actually_ crashed? Would you say the technical demands/lower speeds of the trails just make it so you’re either totally dialed or you just put a foot down? 2. What would you say is the minimum amount of bike you’d want as a visitor/must haves for safe North Shore riding? 3. When do we get the performance review on the berd wheels?
@DaleStone
@DaleStone Жыл бұрын
1) I truthfully can't remember my last proper crash. Despite what it may sometimes seem, I'm a very calculated and risk adverse rider! 😆 2) As long as it's from a proper non-department store brand, even a hardtail can survive with the right technique and trail selection. 3) Within the next 2 months! They've been fantastic, so I'm excited to make a proper video about them. 🙂

@@DaleStone thanks Dale! I figured it had been a while haha. I’ve lived in the land of high speed flow for too long, and it’s just so easy to lose traction and go down hard. Sounds like my Stumpjumper Evo should be right at home when I make a trip, though I might need some grippier tire compounds. Glad to hear the berds are working out! I’m definitely going to try some on my next wheel build.

I realize that a lot of your rides are on secret trails, and that builders very much don't want videos like this to show location. But I really wish there were a way to provide mild hints to us locals who are willing to go searching, while at the same time not giving enough away to see throngs of people finding the trail.
@DaleStone
@DaleStone Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the builder, this trail's builders are super friendly (and the trail has been on and off of Trailforks even!). The really sensitive stuff will never make it online, and neither will mild hints haha. Get searching! 😉

@DaleStone Жыл бұрын
Also, there's no statistically significant correlation between uploading a video and that trail seeing an appreciable increase in traffic. 🙌

I’m sure someone can recognize the fsr at 7:50 and we can go from there 😉. The bear shot at the beginning was definitely Harper but filmers are known to throw you off with subtle hints like that so might not be burke. The topography and trail building style definitely resemble burke I just can’t think of a bridge over a clear river like that anywhere on burke. Maybe chilliwack? Tamihi creek?
