I watched this video with interest not just because out of all the mountain bikers on KZbin you are up there with my favourites but I’ve heard that this route can be an absolute bar steward which ever way it’s ridden but I can so relate to this with some of the routes in the Peak District, it’s been quite a while since I last got out due to illness both mentally and physically, and this video has been an inspiration for me to get well and get back out there so for that I very much thank you 👍

Really appreciate your kind comment mate 😊 This trail is hard going either direction regardless of bike, and it’s hard to recommend. It is very rewarding though if you do it successfully. Hope you feel better soon mate. I struggle mentally, especially at this time of year. Biking really helps me get through it though😊

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell. Listening to Andrew's commentary about going for a dip reminded me of a Dutch gentleman called Wim Hoff. I think Mr Hoff may have taken a dip in the pool had he been there. Mr Hoff does some breathing techniques which I find help me, particularly after a stressful time. Perhaps they might help you? They are on YT for all to use. Good luck and best wishes. Jimbob J

Love the video Andrew, yet another great mission. Don't be too harsh on the Maxxis rubber mate. That snake bite is in a bloody awkward spot that you did well to seal at all the first time given its position. To ride on it without the strip being trimmed back was taking a big liberty with it really so I'm not too surprised it was pulled outing nor should you really bud.

Hard ride up for sure. Lowering the seat a bit helps when climbing up that rough stuff and when its steep on an ebike. You have the assist so you dont have to be as efficient. Lowers you center of gravity and let's the bike move around under you as needed.

Those OEM Maxxis tyres are way below the standard of their off-the-shelf tyres. I had a pair of Assegai's maxxterra that came on my new bike and they were borderline unrideable in the wet. No grip whatsoever, I suspect they use a cheaper compound in the OEM tyres.

It really depends on how you use it. For rides like this, absolutely! On a regular bike I just plod away on the climbs nice and steady so that I can enjoy the descent. On the ebike though, I choose tougher climbs and end up attacking them more and I try to do things that you wouldn’t normally manage. My average heart rate is almost always higher in the ebike.
