Yep, unfortunately this DIY Turbo kit, and more the point... the 4" dump pipe, is doing some damage, blistered paint is a good early sign that we need to take a step back and do some heat management. So, we're going to downsize. Remaking the dump pipe in 3.5" stainless, and putting some heat shielding in place so this problem can't get any worse...

The guy with 3 and a half inch dump that necks down to 3 inch, does he have a external gate to atmosphere? If he does i think that is why he can get away with 3 inch exhaust because alot of exhaust gasses are pouring out gate pipe.

I have another question. I recently wrestled with that CarBuilders stick on heat shielding. Have I got it right you have used the stick on and the plain heat panel together? (Like a samich)? I didn’t think to cut extra and fold over to stop the fibers hanging out. Looks tidy as. (Worst worded question ever.)
@TorqHub
@TorqHub 2 жыл бұрын
Nah we didn't use both in the end Fu Manchu, the heat shielding itself is 2 very thin layers of metal with a fibreglass type insulation sammiched in the middle. The stick on Car Builders will be utilised on the engine bay side at this stage more than likely to cover some of those blisters.

I think I recently saw the skid factory guys using a Rustoleum stone guard in a can if that helps? But if you can borrow a compressor, the 4L raptor liner kits come with the schutz gun to apply it and costs around $320. Comes with enough to do the entire underbody. Food for thought.
