JL I've had the procedure done twice, once when I was around 2 years old and again when I was in 5th grade. I've been told that the first lengthening was very painful, but in my memory the second wasn't too bad. My pain tolerance now is (understandably) higher than a normal person's, but it really isn't painful when you aren't in therapy. I had two hours of therapy, 5 days a week, for 3 months, and the pain there was a 7/10 on my scale, (9.25/10 on someone else's), but it was short. However, now they have new lengthening devices that work completely inside the leg and require no therapy at all, so the pain on those is pretty absent. Lengthening time varies on how much you need to lengthen, but I had my device for 6 months (3 of which I lived in Baltimore for therapy). And yes, the lengthening really works. Without the ability to lengthen my leg, it would have been amputated because of how much shorter it was than my good leg. And while every person is different, and some results vary, every person still gets something out of it. Hope this helps some!

Guys 5'4 and under are definitely short. Guys 5'5-5'6 are short, but not short enough for it to matter that much. 5'7-5'8 are on the shorter side, but not someone I would consider "short" it's an awkward height, but it's not too bad. 5'9 guys are the average guy. 5'10-5'11 are guys that are a bit above average and on the taller side. 6ft-6'2 are your typical "tall guy" 6'3-6'5 are the "very tall" guys. 6'6-6'9 are your NBA players. 7ft and over are giants.

Update: Sorry it wasn't explicit enough: I did a lot of blood tests (about 3 per year for several years now) to mesure my testosterone. No I didn't jack off before the tests (mainly because I can't get erections, have no libido, and a penis that didn't developpe proprely), and they are done by professional, so early morning, at the same hour. I had uneven legs because of a car accident and my right leg was 8 cm shorter then my left and im doing my lengthening right now but its the internal rod and my knee did stiffin up and my leg only bent to 80 to 85° and i had to get a knee manipulation and now my leg get to 95 to 105° easily and YES it is painful at times

I agree with you. I would like to be 6'' tall, so the 3'' increase could be done with this procedure, the only problem is the price. Also you can use the "spare" time for learning new things like a new language. They talk about complications, but... ¿a mental disorder is a "true" complication...? ¿How to tell if it was not something earlier? I bet that they are only discouraging people. Epic Terry we're almost on the same boat only difference is i have a 10 face and great hair. My body doesnt look short luckily but i am still 5,6 just like you. And being a white guy it does gets me more attention that is a fact, i shouldnt care really about height but i kinda do obviously. Ive used lifters, i still do i confess but i dont notice much of a difference in women? Not sure. You know what, when you have a 10 face i dont think height is a big factor anymore lol.. The face, good hair and body compensates the height immensely.

I had this done because I have a shorter leg than the other and I don’t know why someone would do this just to be a little taller it’s one of the most miserable operations ever. Plus your bone will be very very weak for a long time after you get the device removed so your limited to pretty much nothing for at least a year why you body is thickening and healing the bone this is not a good idea just to get taller.

Your bones response to pressure that you put on them, that's why when astronauts return from space, their body density is lower. When your damaged body part is in a case, you don't put much pressure on it so the density actually lowers but on the healing part of your body, the repair material in comparison is stronger than your bone. As time goes by, the densities even out and it's about the same as prior to you breaking your bones. Obviously, there can be cases where its weaker or stronger depending on the body part.

I'm a solid 5'11 but always wanted to be over 6 foot, if I could afford it I'd have the operation... the pain doesn't bother me... when you have gone through breaking your femur and bones in the past it's a small price to pay... Most of the leg lengthening today isn't usually done with the cage on the leg.. but actually put a turning rod that is put in the bone.. where the patient actually turns their legs to length the rod inside the leg.
