I agree with mindcap. I hate how every extreme or insane demon platformer is just mini robot with spikes everywhere. Like, why can't we get some creative gameplay? A cool gimmick? Maybe a custom gamemode? Maybe the JETPACK (Why don't people use the jetpack more?) And I think that having the player be mini the entire time is awful, since mini mode is more annoying than difficult.

I mean the main reason why all platformer extremes look the same right now is because slow precision platformer is what good platformer players currently enjoy. There will definitely be a few players who enjoy faster tech based gameplay sometime in the future, but they'll probably be a lot less numerous compared to precision players since most current good players (npesta for example) have expressed how much they disliked tech based platformer levels. Precision platformer levels right now do have the problem of looking identical with the IWBTG spikes, but there kind of is a reason why levels look so similar. If extreme platformer creators mess around too much with obstacle aesthetics, there'll be a lot of issues with consistency and how hitboxes match with the visuals. This isn't a massive problem with classic levels since they're timing, muscle memory based. That's why we say "frame perfect" for classic gd levels, but "pixel perfect' for platformer levels. Dying to confusing hitboxes and visuals in a classic level is only a matter of changing your muscle memory for that part of the level. Dying to confusing visuals in a platformer level is a matter of memorizing the misalignment and offset of the hitboxes. There are also significantly more inputs in a platformer level than a classic level.

I believe precision gameplay can be more than just mini robot though. Jetpack? Cube? Ball? Spider? Anything other than robot can work, it doesn't have to be JUST robot. It also doesn't have to be just mini, even normal sized robot would be something new for once. And it doesn't have to just be spikes. Why not saws, or moving platforms? It doesn't have to be gimmick based if people standardize a few things, such as slope boost jumps and stuff.

I am trying to make a platformer top 1 that ISNT like that. It’s instead going to be a simple levels game, except for the fact that it is 1000 levels long, with increasingly harder difficulty and newer mechanics that change up the gameplay. I’m thinking of having the final 100 levels be some sort of boss rush, like, The Cursed Thorn Again, which is the Cursed Thorn but harder. And also I’m planning to have some random levels in the mix, like, Unsightreadable, The Hole, and even “5b is a game” with different sublevels. It can range from jumping over single spikes, to bossfights, to going to the minus worlds, decimal levels.

Fun fact: it IS possible to beat that level on the first attempt, you just have to do the sakupen wall jump that you see in sakupen circles or sakupen end. thats because of the inner hitbox. thank you for your attention

People who were saying platformer levels are easy probably didn't encounter platformer games before. There are two types of levels in them: original levels (easy) vs community made (impossible). Also in GD they are mostly based on (almost) pixel-perfect jumps, which is okay when done sometimes, but not fine when used for every single jump.

The reason the platformer is so hard is because it has no checkpoints, meaning you can exit the level and not lose progress, allowing it to be WAY *WAY* harder without either ignoring the checkpoints or having the verifier to leave their computer on and never close GD for weeks. Also I agree, extreme platformers are very repetitive, the robot IWBTG is the platformer equivalent of the hell theme in normal extremes at this point.
