You also have a small windows to get the silage harvested at optimum moisture. If it's too wet, the silage can become toxic and make the animals sick. If it gets too dry, the silage will not ferment properly and make low quality feed, plus you run a huge risk of fire.

There's only one big time farmtuber on here that I know of that uses just their tractor trailers for grain harvest straight out of the combine. Everyone else uses a cart of some sort for grain, corn or soybean harvest. For blackbeans it's straight into the truck or a dump cart & only one farmtuber is doing some blackbeans. Ground compaction is why you see people ripshank or deep VT even in lighter soils.
@aTrippyFarmer3 ай бұрын
The blackbeans probably have major grain condition specifications to be met. Excess augering could ruin the quality pretty quick, especially if it is sensitive to splitting. Corn and soybeans have a lot of room for error before you are docked.
@tylermiesler44623 ай бұрын
I chop alot of corn the compaction that a semi do is nuts and another thing chopping you'll get anywhere from 3-5 times semi loads in silage from grain that's some of the reasons why you runs trucks next to the chopper

I wonder if a concept like the tribine couldn't take off on some larger capacity combines to deal with the hopper size issue. AF11/CR11 is claimed at 8k bushels an hour already, and even the biggest combines on the market only come with ~500 bushel hoppers from the factory.
@aTrippyFarmer3 ай бұрын
I've heard that the Af10/AF11 are going to absolutely dust every combine In the market. That may just be hype, but they look really impressive. All of these flagship machines can harvest so much corn in a short time that need a bigger grain tank. It's almost easier to plan on just keeping the grain cart close...

It didn't work on this model and year of combine like advertised. Deere could've changed something inside the hopper from the model year that Demco designed their's based on. The S780/S790 series are late stage models. Hardly anything changes from year to year from a mechanical perspective. These X9s are new machines with plenty of growing pains. I would bet a ton has changed from 2022 to 2023 to 2024.

I don't think anything that I've seen so far indicates that the combine wasn't taken care of by the previous owner. The inside being dirt was just an oversight. We don't open our combines up after the season unless we suspect there is an internal issue. The bin extension was either due to a part misalignment or improper installment. The back ladder is definitely poor design from Deere. You are right about shopping around being the best way to encourage better quality from a dealership.
