Assaults with knices are generaly way more likely even in the US. The chainmail suit is only used sparingly, when the situation demands it. Mostly people who threaten to kill themselves with a knife. Normal officers here just have a bulletproof vest with a stabproof chainmail net inside

@@peaklister8428 it would. Knife attacks on officers are so rare that it's not worth the hassle to carry it on a normal patrol. Even in the UK. Absolutely great in some situations and I'm 100% for having a chainmail suit on every police station but not for every day carry. In germany we have a knive resistant chainmail piece for our every day tactical vest though. It protects your vital organs and a metal rim prevents knives from sliding upwards into your throat. Doesn't protect your arms and legs but it's more practical for every day use much lighter and will at least save your life. While protection is important, it's also important to keep in mind, that you don't get attacked daily and you have to walk around in your stuff for 12 hours. Situational awareness is your life saver no.1

And before anybody says some bullshit: I am an American, I was going to join Army Special Forces as a Linguistics and Codebreaking specialist (that's what they wanted me to do during recruitment), but was exposed to the side of things civilians are not supposed to see or know about, which led to me refusing to have any further dealings with military or government jobs. Most of my family are veterans or active military personnel. None of us approve of how active the US is in other countries' private affairs or of the way that the government has used other countries' misfortune to attempt to push their agenda, values, and opinions on other countries-- that we shouldn't have had our military in to begin with.
