I think the wall came awesome. Those French cleats are so useful. Nice job.

Wow!! That looks so sick !! It looked organized but randomly it that makes sense...... Anywho the dark wall really makes the wood pop beautifully.. Great job and I'm happy to see you back!!.

The book shelves should be just that, flat "shelves" (without the box) and the books should be stacked vertically on the shelves rather than the current horizontal layout. This will give a look consistent with the french cleat vertical layout.

Great job 👏🏻 I think the book shelves would look better if they were the same colour as the wall.

Nice job! Some suggestions: 1. It would have been faster/easier to sand the 1x2's *before* you cut them to length. 2. Using a vacuum would certainly have been better for dust...or at least put the bag on the sander's output chute? 3. Shellac is an odd choice for something that is going to see a lot of mechanical abrasion. Why not use poly? Mixed as a wipe-on, it will be as fast or faster to apply. 4. Yes, brass screws would have looked nicer. An alternative to be aware of are the GRK R4 type screws. They are amazing: Self-drilling, self countersinking. And they do happen to have a brass coloring. 5. If the screw heads bothered you, why not put edge-banding type veneer over the slat? It is available in 2 inch widths and in natural colors. 6. I see the issue with screwing into the corner. Of course, you really could have used a wall anchor for the right hand screws...a simple "50 lb" anchor would have been plenty strong. Cheerio!

Terrific idea. The green plants look nice against the black.

The wall paint color turned out beautiful! And the french-cleat narrow slats is clever. My opinion is: 1) make the slats the same color as the wall. 2) The white pots pop but not the plants. Rethink them and add something practical to your life. 3) I agree with the comment about reducing the visual size of the shelves. But keep them white. Cute! It's been a month. 0_0 I hope you're safe and working on the next project.

Love the colors and the French hook system+ the plants! Maybe if you did floating bookshelves instead? I like those bookshelves but considering composition I’m just not so sure it fits.

Keep the camera on the final product longer so we can spend some time looking at it. I think it looks really cool I think it's a great idea I love the cleat idea. You could have done the slats on both sides of the wall. You could create shelves that you could put visually interesting things on for decoration. You could have forgone the pegs and put some art on the flat part of the wall.

Hi again! If the book shelves look out of proportion - too big for the cleat board length - maybe try making the lower third of the cleat boards longer to balance better?

Hi! Wall came out great! Sounds like you don't like the accent color white. Try black or sand them down and go with the natural wood like the cleat boards or try a color you love.
@AButterflyHouse2 жыл бұрын
I actually started with the natural wood, but went to white because I didn't love it... another color is a definite possibility. I might try your other idea first, though!

Hello, hope you enjoy your long weekend with your family. Saw the episode of your thumb issue, not nice and I'm sure you've had alot of comments about safety so not going to repeat, but of course being a retired cabinet maker, carpenter, industrial, electronic tech at a University foe 5 years, and a few other trades because of recessions learned alot about safety. # 1 is wood is cheaper than flesh than flesh, make a jig. # 2 , one of those man things but apply to all, dont put your hand anywhere you wouldnt put your dink! Very old carp saying! Lol i still have my 5 hp table saw and orher machines and no accidents but learned from professionals and advise all to get some advise or take classes, well worth a thumb or a hand, or worae. Just subscribed so looking forward to your new projects. Take care. Bryan from Canada

@racheleastwood-stone80552 жыл бұрын
The bookshelves maybe shouldn't be for books. Candles crystals vases. Not sure what you like but if books are what you want there. Find books that look pleasing with the rest of your look. Or block the colours together. Maybe even bind them. I do like the boxes but they look odd been so low & close together.. Did you have concerns about them being higher. Love the wall colour, wood & adore planting. I can't keep them alive either. Not even an air plant. Haha. Good luck

Looks great but please don’t just hold the wood in your hand with a forstner bit. Clamp it down so if it slips you are safe or better yet use that drill press in the background.
@bladesNstuff2 жыл бұрын
You’d think she’d be cautious of that considering she chopped her thumb off with a table saw.
