The fact that people can go through the legal system once and then still think its a good idea to talk to cops without a lawyer absolutely flabbergasts me. If you're ever in this situation at all, here's my advice: DON'T SPEAK BUT TO SAY I WANT A LAWYER EVEN IF YOU ARE INNOCENT, or Legal Aid from a Civil Attorney if you can't afford one. Usually at the point where they bring you in for questioning they are testing you, getting a baseline and comparing the answers they get with what they already know. In the end they will always get you.
@QuitLifeTV Жыл бұрын
While that's perfectly true and would had been a great idea, it probably wouldn't have made a difference on the street side of things. You know, the part where he gets out and someone pops him. I'm willing to guess whatever his involvement actually was in the crime, guilty or not, the one popping him didn't try to listen as hard as the police. Lawyer up, but if you don't, second best option is to be straight up spitting facts. From my cozy armchair sofa, acknowledging I don't have all the facts either way, my impression is he was at minimum showing loyalty to his friends with this selective memory, later saying he was there and this and that. I'm just venting my thoughts. Well wishes!
@dr.mantistoboggan4746 Жыл бұрын
Unless they are nice, then you can tell them everything.
@XeresKyle Жыл бұрын
@@QuitLifeTV I'm telling you, if the detectives are hellbent on pinning something on you, especially with how persistent they were to getting a confession from this man, then they're going to try to put you away. They say they want "the truth" but what they mean is they want you to confess to something to fit their narrative. And you usually don't know who you're going to get as a detective. You don't know if you're going to get a straight shooter or a deceptive detective. So I'm telling you you can't say anything to the police, because no matter what you know as the truth, if they've got certain ulterior motives and certain pieces to back it up, then your innocence means nothing to them. So it's best to play your cards right from the start and just don't talk and ask for a lawyer, because innocent people have gone to prison for murder all the time because of detectives like these.
@QuitLifeTV Жыл бұрын
@@XeresKyle As I said, I agree 100% with getting a lawyer, and innocent people get into trouble due to how things are done to be sure. I think he acted very mature and cordial up until he started fishing for snitches, which I get why he would, guilty or not, but it's not a nice look regardless. And when after the break he changes his tune and manners well.. Lying about the cars, etc. They don't need you to confess if you did nothing. But if you don't say what you saw, like for instance if your homeboy shot some people up next to you, then you're on the hook for at least aiding and abetting. It might not help with saying what happened, but if you talk without a lawyer, and start saying stuff that isn't true, then that will reflect poorly guaranteed. Ulterior motives, I can see that sometimes, but on the other side people scream at police if they do their job well or not. It's all perspective, but they are humans as well and can do all kinds of stuff, but they record stuff so we can check them out.

@@tristan583 Sad for the guilty and the innocent alike, think about it. The whole thing is sad, it's sad he chose that life, it's sad that life exists, isn't poverty sad? Isn't the fact that projects and ghettos and gangs exist? It's sad, angering, shameful, it's a lot of things, it's sad for the victims and the survivors too, like, it's sad for everyone. It's worse for some, but no one is spared... unless they don't care, for whatever reason... which in itself, is sad... someone dies and someone else isn't sad about it, that's sad... someone tells a joke and someone doesn't laugh, that's sad ...and funny... but not to everyone, or maybe it is. Life, is suffering... I think PeeWee Herman said that. Which is sad. It seems like you're calibrating amounts of sadness between victims and survivors. The whole thing is sad in varying degrees.
