Have you properly quarantined the L. megatheloides enclosure? Linda's behaviour was really weird, reminds me of early parasitic infection signs. You should take a look at her chelicerae ventrally. If you spot some weird ooze, that might be worrying... Hope all your Ts are ok!

@@TheDarkDen I think she just got a bit spooked from the hisser and it made her unsure, like how when they realise they catch something that isn't food they stop eating it. Lots of species are prone to this, even the greedy species.
@metalwraith61624 жыл бұрын
@@Falloutman216 I agree with you, until such time as unusual behaviour could be identified suggesting parasites then I'm also thinking she got herself spooked, we have an adult female Lp and she did the exact same with a hisser, as soon as those fangs hit and didn't penetrate she let go and backed off, almost identical to Linda in this vid so no cause to worry until there's something to worry about.

I always worry when you’re feeding hissers to things. In my 20+ years keeping, I’ve seen so many tarantulas injure their fangs on them. They really should never be used for feeders due to the risk. It doesn’t happen every time, but when it does, it’s awful.
@seanrallis67144 жыл бұрын
@@SkyeSpider 90% of the time, it's fine. But that's still a bit of a risk. I won't even feed crickets, because of their strong jaws. Lats and occasional worms only.

I think you're right about her fangs, those roaches are VERY tough, they're designed to deflect attacks like that and they can be difficult for some spiders to bite while alive. Maybe find a humane way of subduing them a bit, and offer them on their backs, belly up where the exoskeleton isn't so tough? Then again I don't think she'd react to a slower or still one. Or try feeding in tongs belly first? So her fangs can get in easier x
