I love Izzy. She’s a great balance of being comic relief while not being obnoxious or annoying, I like that her humour is more quiet and goofy rather than just yelling random stuff and doing physical gags all the time as a lot of comic relief characters in kids cartoons do. She’s a joy to watch

@@modalglue honestly the fact that the mane 5 feel like blends of the previous mane 6 makes them far more interesting. While gen 4’s characters were great, they were incredibly extreme in their personalities Gen 5’s characters are less out there and therefore because they’re more grounded. And the ponies who kinda are reminiscent of some of The mane 6 will have a closer connection to those who are also a mix of the mane 6 and share a pony in common. Gen 4’s friendship does seem a bit fast and slightly forced from Twilight’s end. The rest get away with the extreme differences simply cuz they have known each other for a long time cuz small town.

"earth ponies get nothing" actually in the final scene we see an earth pony walking along and their hooves glow, which to me seems to imply that either Earth ponies have new magic now or Earth ponies have always had a form of magic that was unknown until this point and is now returning. I just hope that they actually address this in the show following this

I'd like to note that in Gen 4, the world didn't work on it's own. The earth didn't orbit the sun and the moon didn't orbit the earth. The princesses moved them (cartoon logic I guess). The pegasi controlled the weather. It didn't just happen. The earth ponies grew the plants, cared for animals, cooked, mined and such. (fluttershy being like an exception here). Places that worked by themselves like the everfree forest, were seen as weird. In Gen 5, the world is actually working just fine by itself. It doesn't need pony magic. So what we've seen so far is that pegasi will just have fun flying, high up jobs will be made easier. But they wouldn't need to alter the weather. Unicorns can levitate and learn other magic tricks, but wouldn't need to do anything vital like the sun and moon. Things seem to grow just fine without earth pony magic, but perhaps they will now find they are generally stronger and the land they touch becomes more fertile and luscious. Better quality food and that.

Like for example the god Khepri who each day rolls the sun back on the sky and how in Norse mythology there are two(one?) wolves that chase the sun(Sol) and the Moon(Mani) through out the day and that's why we have day-night cycle. And all the Greek myths about how it was the gods getting pissed off at humanity and that's why Zeus would rain down lighting and Poseidon brought about the floods.

Earth ponies have a deep connection to the earth and their physical strength. So it kind of makes sense that their hooves glow because that touches the earth. I always saw the ponies kind of like being in charge of different layers of the world so I’ve never really seen them as being unequal. I know not a lot of us think that though.

My biggest critique is that… well you can kinda tell Kimiko Glenn (Izzy) is the only real voice actor there. She’s the only one with significant voice acting experience, and you can kinda tell that from how much personality Izzy’s vocal performance has compared to the others.

For me it's the complete opposite! I had a vcr with gen1 episodes when I was a kid that I absolutely loved! I had a few G1 and G2 toys. G2 were my favourite. When my little sister was old enough to watch movies she fell in love with G3. So did I. When G4 came out I was a teenager so I didn't pay much attention to it until last year. I became a mlp fan once again. 😁 Friendship is Magic is my comfort show. All of the generations played an important part in my life so I am super curious about the lore, characters and adventures from this new generation 🥰🥰🥰

You know, normally when things have CGI reboots it looks horrible, but the new style is super cute. I think I actually like it more than the previous one! The colors are so soft and pastel-y, it kind of reminds me of claymation which is neat.

Let's pretend that their timeline follows ours to an extent, that is a couple of hundred years, but for the Maine 6 to become myths, you'd think it would be like thousands of years. Like hownit is for us to think back about...oh let's say, Egypt and the Faraos for example. And since Twi became an Alicorn, she along with Flurryheart would live.....very very very long after the others. I cant point it exactly cuz I didn’t see it myself only heard of it but there was an Easter egg that is kind of a hint to how the ponies went against eachother for context: there was an equestria girls special called forgotten friendship where a lonely girl in canterlot high uses a magical stone that can erase memories to make all the mane 6 forget sunset shimmer (cuz she’s jealous of her friends n stuff) and there was a picture of the same stone in one of zipp/sunny’s dad science boards so there is a chance someone used that stone (accidentally or not accidentally) to make the ponies forget about eachother and they all started fearing eachother

Nitpicks: -I'm still confused as to why they didn't explain how the segregation happened in the movie that is meant to introduce the new generation -What happened to the alicorns (Immortality or just unnaturally long life spans) -Are the others still locked in Tartarus? -Aside from walking on clouds and being immune to the high altitudes of the sky, plus changing weather I guess why do Pegasus need magic to fly? -They can glide and flex/flap their wings, but they can't fly? Pegasus are basically chickens. -What about the wendigos? Does Heartswarming Eve just not exist anymore or has it been written out of cannon? -How does Equestria still exist? Wouldn't the different tribes have made their own countries by now considering the separation and the fact that Equestria was built on the foundation of uniting the three tribes together? (Basing this off the multiple times the U.S has tried to break off from itself) -What happened to the other non-pony species or are we basically re-doing season 9? -It was implied in the original show that magic and flight needed to be learned before it could be properly practiced so how in the world do all the pegasus just start immediately knowing how to fly and the unicorns immediately knowing how to use a levitation spell? -The magic mirror and other artifacts or seals like the stonified Chrysalis, Tryrek and coseyglow? (I bet the human world is like in some sci-fi era now) -Like what was said in the video, did nobody document Twilight or Celestia's teachings? How did friendship get lost to time? -If there's no magic, how in the world do these ponies find their special talents? Because if I remember correctly magic was Twilight's special talent Things I liked: -G3 inspiration for the different colored horn designs for the ponies -The voice acting was way better than I thought it was going to be -I love the animation and style -Izzy is best girl and her mane is absolutely gorgeous! -I thought I was going to hate Hitch and Izzy, but I was pleasantly surprised because they're my favorite -The world is also gorgeous an I can't wait for the Tv show to explore it more -The royals faking being able to fly and Pip's turn around from fame and saving face to an actually sincere person -The change in social class between the tribes (really refreshing) -I like to headcanon that the unicorns live in the everfree forest -The fact that the unicorns live in the forest period because I am a sucker for old fashioned unicorn lore -The golden alicorn wing anssamble -Sunny having cardboard attachments because that's adorable

i thought g4 pinkie pie,and twilight put a boulder over the entrance to the mirror pool in what was the everfree forest,now bridlewood forest,i guess some curious and depressed unicorns came across it,and felt a way to feel more upbeat to see if they could create clones of themselves like g4 pinkie pie,but i imagine other unicorns didn't get headaches like g4 twilight did by figuring out how to reset the probable chaos g4 pinkie created when she needed more of herself to help her g4 friends,but then in this g5 movie we might see more than 1 sunny starscout roaming around maritime bay,and hitch thought one sunny as his mare friend was difficult to control,imagine if like g4 pinkie pie there were 30 nor more sunny's roaming around maritime bay,and we thought the 3 pony groups freaked out about each other imagine them running into more versions of themselves,so even izzy would have to sneak out of town with sunny cause her clones could create the feel she never left maritime bay,like how g4 rainbow dash realized what g4 pinkie pie had done,and g4 rainbow dash just wanted to get away from her relaxing pool party,so she didn't get sent to a counselor pony,and get put in a calm down room if she could've calmed knowing how hyperactive pinkie pie,and now having to deal with many versions of her mare friend,and just think the mane5 including spike got extra juice from magic through rainbow dash's sonic rainboom,so maybe starlight glimmer was doing a good thing when she tried to stop rainbow dash's sonic rainboom,but now sunny in g5 has re opened that bottle,and how it affects these g5 ponies hopefully will find out as these g5 ponies start their trot next year,which of the mane5 ponies it gone to jacked up by this enhanced magic flowing through their fur,and bodies next like pinkie pie got jacked up in g4,and what will happen when like the g4 ponies when th e g5 ponies magic combines,what will it do,since we saw how when g4 twilight got her mentor's magic it really souped her up into a very dangerous mare,like how the storm king' staff in the g4 movie made him mess with time,and space on the pony nation of equestria,and what we didn't see how it affected the rest of their earth,since i sure that type of enhanced magic was seen,and felt beyond the ponyland states of equestria,might this be why g5 ponies want each group apart from each other since they read what happened in the past,and it freaked them out.

I feel like twilight’s pupil might have betrayed her? After twilight’s friends died, she might have started up some problems? Maybe such as pony race problems? This could have been done so ponies stay divided, and don’t work together when there is a major threat. Twilight, already at a weakened state (as she just lost her friends) gets attacked, but ponies being divided makes it hard to fight back. Celestia, Luna, and Twillight thus sacrifice themselves, and in the process make the three crystals…? Any survivors that were left were still racist to each other, and went their own paths. It may sound ridiculous, but we actually never get any info on twilight’s pupil? Everyone is talking about the mane 6, but where is she? But in all seriousness, I don’t think they will go to deep with the backstory, and come with something small and simple

probably still on their pony earth tour,and i feel that g4 twilight,and spike might still be around,but probably in suspended animation along with g4 twilight's niece flurryheart,and all the crystal ponies,and their empire part of ponyland,equestria,but this is just my view of this stuff,why i feel this way is that if g4 king sombra made the crystal vanish for a 1000+ years,who says g4 twilight,and flurryheart couldn't do it since they are both alicorn ponies,1 natural,the other through magic,along with cadence, since she was the 3rd alicorn in that group as the pony princess of love,and if i went back before g4 mlp i felt cadence's true mother was pony princess of love amor,who probably became chysallis since sombra gave what he thought was a love potion,not a poison that changed amor from a pony into a changeling that drove sombra mad,and guess where i got this from pondering the g4 mlp episode hearts and hooves day where g4 twilight gives a copy of said potion to the cmc's who decide mare cheerilee,and stallion big mac,are meant for each other as their special somepony,luckily before breaking g4 pinkie pie's sister marble's heart big mac found sugar belle,who i feel was already cousins to g4 sweetie belle,and g4 rarity belle,but that's for another fan fic based on g4 mlp fim.

Her horns and wings are not permanent, because in the toys they added her with all the ponies without her wings in the future, and we can take from the alicorns we saw in G4, that the wings are not transparent and glowing like that. So In conclusion, her horns and wings are temporary. Plus the plot would be kinda eh, if she was a alicorn

My theory is that the mane six died and Equestria was left without a leader!!! The three tribes fought over who get to rule the kingdom which lead to a war that separated the three tribes!!!! Thousands of years later, the three tribes remained separated from each other , friendships from the past are now gone and the stories of the main six were thought to be legends!!!! At least that what I think is what happened!! Still there's so much we don't know about the lore of this "new generation"!! Why did magic disappear? What really happened to the mane six?Where's the crystal empire? Exactly how long has it been? What happened to discord after Fluttershy died?? So many questions!!! For a" child" movie or a movie Target children I kinda like the idea of death of a parent as a thing that acceptable . Unless it was pokemon or your mom you didn't see too many cartoon that outright were like " hey your parents could die while you're young and that's ok , you still be able to grow up strong and wonderful for them " what making it incredible depressing and incredibly like beating you over the head with it or making a very special episode that also felt less like helping the child get over it and more like just wanting to beat you over the head with also brainwashing fear mongering are such fun topics to treat in a kid movie because it actually fun introducing subject to challenge kids and not just thinking they're stupid ....yo i think I like this writer

I really like it too. I want people to start getting used to the idea of death and the inevitability of it not in a super sad way, but a happy accepting way where you can be satisfied enough with the memories made to not mourn it over every time death of a loved one is mentioned. It takes less of a toll on people's psyche when they're not having heartstrings tugged by every/anything that reminds them of somebody in a depressing way.

I feel like people sometimes forget _just_ how many things in g4 depended on magic, aside from the entire weather system, the nature system, and the animal ecosystem. 1. *_The wendigoes are/were beings made by the_** magic **_of ponies against one another, that’s why they don’t appear in g5._* 2. It takes magic to become an alicorn, so without that, no new alicorns are made, and possibly all of them are killed off either due to that magic being needed for immortality, or because the ponies believed they needed new rulers from their own races 3. Pegasi’s wings are far too small for their bodies, there’s a reason they needed magic to fly and stand on clouds 4. Without alicorns, it’s way too easy to seperate all the tribes. You saw how easy it was in that season 9 finale. But twilight and the young six fixed it. But without alicorns(basically a combination of all the tribes), they will easy turn on each other, especially if someone decided to assassinate Twilight. They could easily blame it on a tribe, then those tribes go to war, and then separation ensues. And then the crystals get taken with the new rulers of each tribe and so magic disappears, either slowly or at once, everyone loses magic and voila. Or, more likely, memory stone shenanigans ensued. (there was a memory stone poster in Izzy’s house.) And every tribe took their Crystal and dipped 5.The reason the history that Twilight wrote/made isn’t there? It’s way too easy to erase history from books, or change it entirely. Check out an American history book and you’ll probably find a lot of false history 6. -Hitch is totally gay. Zipp is lesbian, and Izzy is my favorite.- 7. There’s gonna be a show later on, it’ll tie up loose ends. Hopefully- 8.Idk what’s happening with cutie marks but okay ig.

I felt it was a good start, I do hope they do explain in the show what happened for the 3 species of ponies to hate each other. The voice acting was good, their face design could be a little bit better in my opinion. But I'm glad they kept it simple than trying to overwork the previous generation. That is what Lauren did when Hasbro asked her to reboot the franchise, she kept it simple.

"Disobey the law if it's in the service of the greater good", "if a government can be brought down by the truth then it should be", "borders are arbitrary and should be removed as soon as possible", and "allowing corporations to control your government will lead to fascism". The reason for Gen 5 is partially as you say, to revitalize for another audience. Another reason, more specifically, the voice actresses, namely Ashley Ball, Tara Strong, and Tabitha St Germain wanted to move on. They all have new projects, and simply it would be difficult to continue. They were all invited to go for a 10th season well before 9 was rolled out, but they all decided 9 seasons was enough.

It would be very strong constitutional monarchy however. Even in UK the Queen can’t be arrested for even murder. Although the monarchy would be quickly abolished then…the laws usually only protect the monarch really even in feudal societies so the princesses being wanted makes more sense (although in feudal monarchies the monarch would have needed to order then and there would have need a law to be broken in modern ones, I don’t know if lying is law breaking…)

The reason for the change of generation is simple: every ten or so years (some times less on the half generations), Hasbro reboots the brand. FiM/G4 had simply reached the end of its life-cycle. I for one am very excited to see where they go with this; it feels like a nice marriage of FiM and the aesthetics and vibes of previous generations. (Gives me real G3-but-with-a-plot-and-history feels but that might just be my nostalgia talking)

The only real gripe I had with the movie was Sunny’s depression after the failure in Bridlewood while I’m basically yelling at my screen going “Earth ponies have magic, there’s a third crystal! How do you not know this?” I find it either incredibly dumb or a massive oversight that Sunny’s dad either didn’t explain that earth ponies have magic too or for some reason that he had the crystal and never told her about it.

I’m so proud of them for releasing MORE good MLP. I grew up with the OG generations thanks to my mum, still have one of the DVD’s somewhere. I’ve loved all of it, even the new movie ! The movie really surprised me with how good it was. I felt really nostalgic throughout it. The characters and humour reminded me of the old show in all my favourite ways, way back from when I really got into it. Also I was super surprised that they just killed off Sunny's Dad, I figured he'd get the Apple Family treatment and just never be mentioned at all but he was. 12:40 i was thinking about this a lot before the movie came out (literally like half an hour before) and i actually came up with a decent answer short: it's really easy to make ponies be racist and there's no princess to make them nice again long: basically the three kinds of ponies were already mostly seperated. ponyville has a lot of earth pony traditions which are hard for a lot of other ponies to do since earth pony magic is their strength, canterlot has a lot of things that really only work with a horn so it's mostly unicorns there (not to mention there's a lot of magic significance there, like celestias school), and cloudsdale is literally all pegasi because nobody else can live there without a constant spell and in the season 9 finale, it was really easy for the villains to get ponies to think racist again. but that was fixed by twilight, and in the past it was fixed by celestia and luna. without any alicorn princesses to fix it (because like they're all 3 types combined into one so they're naturally the ones who would unite the 3 types) it's actually surprisingly easy to get them seperated for a long time.

One thing I find really interesting is the small bit of G5 map we had revealed- Zephyr Heights is where Canterlot once was. That leads to a lot more questions, especially how and why Pegasi ended up dominating a city once lived in by the elite of unicorn society. Was there a conflict that resulted in Pegasi and Unicorn conflict? Did this conflict contribute to the split of the pony races? Were Earth Ponies involved or did they witness this event and stay out of it for fear of the others? What happened???

According to Sawtooth, the end of the movie (with the shiny hoofprints) suggests earth ponies have a magic that is different from what was in gen 4. Personally I'm glad they used the movie to state the base that "who cares about the knick-knacks???", because in gen 4 they were too focused on the items of the elements of harmony even if in episode 2 they were already saying that the elements are more in the ponies than in the silly jewels. Yet it would have been better if there hadn't been any special crystals in the first place imo but you know, marketing, buy our toys... and I've been very confused from the very start because why would ponies be so racists with each other and why hadn't they been attacked by windigos? It makes maybe a little more sense afterwards because it could be because magic was locked... but then, did whoever did that make nature work on its own (day/night, seasons,...)? Now magic is back do they have to raise the sun and moon again, or is the world permanently autonomous? Where are the non pony creatures? Do cutie marks work differently than before, they look different...

The characters in this movie had more grounded and complex personalities than Gen 4, imo. Where Pinkie Pie was basically "Lol Random Screaming" in terms of humor, Izzy was still funny, but more subtle and didn't rely on being loud or doing "random" things. Rainbow Dash was sporty and tomboyish, whereas Zipp was sporty tomboyish, but also quiet and thoughtful. It definitely wasn't any more "generic" than Gen 4.

I do believe they sort of implied in Gen 4 that earth pony magic is internal and seems to enhance their physical strengths and such, which explains why nearly every farmer, vet, and construction worker outside Cloudsdale in G4 is an Earth Pony. I really hope that G5 goes more into that finally.

Earth ponies have druid-style magic. They almost never focus on it, but they almost died when a magic-sucking demon attacked them in G4, so they have a lot of magic in general. It just isn't flashy. Also, there was a reference to something really strange on the board with the lost history of Equestria. The memory stone from EQG was drawn on a piece of paper. The memory stone can rip memories from people's heads, so that might explain what is going on. But the biggest surprise is that that is an EQG reference. What the hell is EQG like? They treated EQG like the modern world where magic started leaking through and infecting random people. But what would the world look like after 500 years of magic leaking from Equestria and technology advancing?

I think the big problem with G4 was that it was becoming a narrative mess that really did need a reset button. Waaaay too many characters, increasingly not enough time in a season to accommodate all of them. It fell into the quicksand-like adventure fanfiction trope of becoming way too large in scope and having too many characters to individually focus upon within the space of one narrative arc (i.e. season)

12:19 To be fair, it is stated that the events of G5 take place many, many, MANY years after the events of G4. Basically the point where any and all events of the previous generation are referred to as "Ancient Equestria". So a lot of info could have been lost in that amount of time.

I’m surprised the Windigoes were not even in the movie, considering they were feeding upon the fear and hate that pony kind had for each other. Theory: Whatever separated the ponies again, is more powerful than the Windigoes!

I don't think fear was the reason why Windigoes are around. It was the hatred and conflict, which the sirens used to amplify it back in Starswirl's day. The G5 ponies were just separated by fear, and it was until Sprout started to unleash a war, but nobody wants to participate in it . . . so yeah, I can see why the Windigoes never bothered.

@@theflotingheadproduc I think it's most likely just a typical visual representation when stories show to the viewers that trouble is brewing. 🤔 But it would be interesting if the series retcons that and add that there was something more going on.
