If you want to keep the bait hooks off the bottom attach a piece of polystyrene to them, this will float them out of reach of crabs.

Nice one lads, magnificent west Highland scenery, and the finest fish that swims in British waters! I'm going to mull in a few weeks, hopefully break my saltwater seatrout duck! Although we catch quite a few in our rivers, England isn't great for saltwater sea trout venues. Trying to get a utube "daytime sea trout on fly" vid compiled, I probably need about 3 years to finish it. 🤣 (soul trader 57)

Usually the incoming tide in North America.

We found the rising tide to be most productive but did catch at low tide too. 👍

It sounds like someone was trying to put you off visiting their spot. 😂 sea bass love the sea lochs, lots of food. Can be caught on lure, bait or fly just beyond the seaweed. 🎣👍

@@scottishmountainman1290 some sea loughs, ive fished the biggest one in the uk for 25years and im still waiting to land one outta the friggin place, we got cracker sea-trout so i suppose one cant complain, nice vid btw mate 👍👍👍

@@whitetroutchannel thank you, keep trying, it will pay off at some point. The end of summer/autumn is definitely the prime time of year to target sea bass. Bait fishing is very robust but when it comes to lure and fly fishing you have to really target the bass. 👍🎣

There are sea bass . More than used to be. But tend to be small .

I was told by a Glasgow Uni Zoologist that the North Coast waters were too cold for Bass. I caught a pair of Bass off Durness two days later and have caught a few there over the years.
