3ds Rainbow Road is one of the hardest tracks for the seeker, which is ironic because rainbow roads are usually easy for seekers. Also, greatest Mario Kart track ever.

I think I know why the offroad for stars in this is so inconsistent; the offroad bonus for the star only lasts the length of a regular star. When it first applies the Star effect, it gives you the offroad bonus for the normal duration of the star. Afterwards, offroad will affect you. Falling out of bounds resets the star effect (since in normal gameplay it would remove the star effect), which lets you drive offroad until the default timer for the star ends again.
