hi over land life style ooh yuck keep you're self clean for health reasons it go's double for the girl's including you're daughter so they don't end up with female problems that one of the big tricks when you live in a car or truck etc. is to not let you're self go yes I know from where I'm talking first hand for you're and you're wife and daughters sake pull you're self back together it's hard to get it together and keep it together on the road longer on the road the harder it is to not let you're self go ok but it's not just you so for you're wife's and daughters sake and help them ok you got a God family 👍C😎😎L

@@DRobb-zi2rj I've been to Alaska and Canada, yes internet is many times non existent for sometimes days or even weeks at a time. Unless your in one of the bigger cities you may get lucky and a small town night have satellite internet that good enough for email. Also your comment about the time between videos shows that you have no idea about what's involved in doing video and editing them so you can have a very good quality product.

I was an educator in Whittier during the mid-1080s. I completely loved the experience. Great people and great students. Fantastic ourdoor activities. My wife and I thought about retiring there when I retired in 1998, but got enticed to Oregon, where we still live. Go there, visit for a few days, relax and enjoy life

I lived in Whittier from '83 to '88. I've always told people that it's the most beautiful place in the world, and this video proves it. When I lived there, there was no toll road. To get out of town, if not on the ferry, you put your car on a train and it takes you through the tunnels to Portage. Watching this, I got chills as the light at the end of the tunnel became more prevalent and Whittier came into view. I miss it dearly.

I'll be watching this one again just for the beauty and the music, stunning/awesome/majestic/mysterious/historical, one could go on and on. Love Sarah's monologue too, neat to see the world through her eyes as well, not to mention all the one liners and exclamatories from little Miss Caroline. Hit another outta the park peeps!

Trust me, you would't want to spend a winter in Whittier. The strategic advantage of the location was Japanese bombers would not be able to find it due to constant cloud cover, or as we say now, it's always shittier in Whittier. Great video - you made Whittier look cool.

Hmm...I was snowbound more often in Anchorage than I was in Whittier. There was no road for cars through the tunnels from Portage to Whittier; just the RR track. From Anchorage I would drive up Turnagain Arm to Portage; then drive onto the flatbed RR car and let the train take me through Bear Valley and the tunnels on to Whittier. There, I drove off the train and parked at the Begich Towers where I lived in a 2 BR apt. facing the bay. Fantastic living, and view.

Winter wasn't so bad. I lived in the Begich Towers (the big tan building.) I worked in the school across the street, and we got there through a tunnel under the street. All the tourists were gone, and the people who were left hiked, skied, tobogganed, played with inner tubes... so much outdoor fun! We had a grocery store in the building, as well as the post office, the library, a little cafe, and others I don't remember. You only go out if you want to. And it was warm inside, unless the boilers broke down...

Welcome to The Great Land. You definitely got lucky with the weather in Whittier. If you ever get the chance, head out to Unalaska (Dutch Harbor), or way up north to Utqiagvik (Barrow)… Totally different scenery but still amazing Alaska. Dutch looks like New Zealand, with no sheep and lots of WW2 / Cold War history all over the state.

Oh my god i remember that place. Last time I visited that place was when I was 9 I think. After I turned 10 my brain couldn’t handle the long drives anymore. I can barely make it from Muldoon to eagle river without feeling like I’m going to puke. I remember when my family and cousins would go to to go fishing there and we’d all bring food and have a huge picnic. Those were the days. If I remembered correctly there was an abandoned building nearby and we’d make up stories about how it was haunted and stuff. You’re lucky to have good weather in that area, every time I visit that place it would always rain after a short while. Still living in Alaska of course. I’m still a high school student. Alaska will always be my home, even if my allergies says otherwise. No other place compares to Alaska. Definitely going to retire here once I’ve grown old and wrinkled and have explored the places I’ve wanted to. I’ll always come back to Alaska, back to my home.

Lol I ate there back in 2002. I was raised in Alaska, Anchorage to be exact. South Anchorage in fact. Lower Hillside. I left to serve my country. You did a great job highlighting some of Alaska's treasures. I am very homesick now. Why no cruise while in Whittier? My wife has never seen Alaska so maybe I can use these videos to really inspire her. Also love the off-roader you have. You survived the tundra from the looks of it. My dad had a 1950s model Willy and we used to have a blast off-roading in Alaska. Anyhow... Look forward to your continued explorations. Be safe.

As soon as I saw the title of this video I knew it had to be Whittier. Used to be that you drove your vehicle up onto a flatbed railcar, set the parking brake and just sat tight as the train transported you through the tunnel. I made the trip many times back in the 80's. We went there in winter to, wait for it,..........scuba dive! I worked for Sunshine Sports in Anchorage and we would take students there for their first open water dives. Dive season in Alaska is actually winter because all the streams and such freeze up and the visibility goes from zero to twenty feet in summer to 80 to 100 feet in winter.

Hey you all great video, lots of laughs great personalities all of you. Yes that was a bunker back in the time it was built there was a lot of asbestos used in the construction. The trails with planking are going to become more and more common for many reasons. It keeps hikers on a trail less impact on the environment. It also reduces risk of injuries so less resources need for medical calls. Thanks for the very entertaining videos and stay safe on your travels.

We did some one-way tunnels like that on our Iceland trip. They didn't switch directions but instead had pullouts cut in every 300ft or so for traffic to pass in opposite directions. Almost all of the many bridges in Iceland are also one way and require you to give right of way to whoever arrives at the opposite end of the bridge first.

16:46--"I could live here". In 1991 I flew my private plane (BE-V-35-B) to AK with my father who was 75 at the time. While in the hotel in Fairbanks at the end of June, the weather guy on TV said "we're down to 21:37 of daylight. After considering that for a few minutes it meant that in 6 months it would 21 hours and 37 minutes of dark. Thus ended my dream of moving to AK.
