I don't think it's the format, the video itself is kinda slow and boring with little editing to spice it up, it's not very interesting or entertaining to watch Pyro live atacking, blocking and parrying the same enemy for 5 min... It feels bloated mostly background noise worthy. Not every video is a hit, i myself really enjoy videos that you can get your work done with.

The thing with the face paths is less to do with Senua herself and more to do with a phenomenon known as Pariedolia, a normal thing for most people to see certain combinations of shapes as similar to a human face. It's why a simple colon and bracket in text gives us a smiling face or a bunch of craters on the moon look like eyes and a mouth. Basically, the development of pattern recognition and its consequences have been a catastrophe for mankind.

11:33 The combat in the first game was actually a bit deeper than that - you could combine every move - double dodge, dodge in every direction and hit (like you could dodge forward and impale), you could attack while running, etc. Aside from that, there were some combos that flowed into each other, like light-light-hard-light-light or light-hard-light-hard, etc (wish there was time to complete it in a battle though). I hoped they would work on it and make it even more seamless and deeper, but I look at the first battle and see that it's basically the same, just different animations.

In regards to the actual video, the story definitely feels good, and the mechanics are interesting, and it's something I would love to see...on something other than a game, because I personally hate games that are basically "push the joystick and sometimes do something with the other buttons" or as people call it "narrative games" (which kinda defeats the purpose of a game now doesn't it?). I want to have more agency over the character I'm controlling, not because of a low attention span, but because that's what a game is supposed to be, me with full control over a character's actions, wether they have a personality or they're a blank slate. Plus It's been a while since I've cared about the graphics of a game or how realistic it may be, hell some of my favorite games, the return of the Obra Dinn, the binding of Isaac, Persona 5, don't have "realistic" graphics, but they have memorable graphics, wether it's a grain filter, pixel art or smooth anime models. So when developers start gushing about how damn good it looks, I inmediately think "how does it play?". Don't get me wrong, a game can look great and have great gameplay, I'm just saying that living by looks alone is a terrible idea. All of this to say that from the start I sorta knew what this game was gonna turn into, push forwards as cool things happen around you, and I can definitely appreciate the sheer amount of effort it took to make it look this cool, is just a shame that the rest of the game had to suffer for that to be possible, and it's kinda of shame that the studio will probably shut down in favor of more garbage live service games, although part of me wishes that they could go indie, or at least part of the team, because I want more options than "open world game with collectibles and a theoretical plot". Papers please and Return of the Obra Dinn are incredible in regards to storytelling and ambience, and both are basically games about paperwork. But in general I guess I just want games with more to them than just the overall plot or collectibles, I want real gameplay, that makes me want to engage with it as much as possible, and definitely not combat which looks cool (again) but has so little substance that it makes suicide squad seem like a decent alternative. (Also if you're gonna say that return of the Obra Dinn is also a walking simulator, then I'd have to say you're sorta right, but that game actually has consequences regarding how well you deduce things and names, plus putting together the puzzle of what happened to everyone is miles ahead from what happens here)

The "Microsoft is purposely trying to kill Ninja Theory" theory is probably half-true not because they're looking for a reason to close Ninja Theory but because they've already decided to close Ninja Theory internally and due to that dedicated no budget to Hellblade's 2 marketing and release. Probably the only reason they didn't close it yet is because Hellblade 2 was so close to release and optically it would look better to announce the closure after the game inevitably flops vs closing it beforehand and not even giving it a chance. Regardless though I'm fully expecting Ninja Theory to close in the next couple of weeks.

One of the sentences an articles uses is Hellblade is like Xbox's version of The Order 1886 and I feel like its accurate. Even with The Order 1886 if I can remember theres a whole chapter in the game of them yapping and its counted as a chapter then moves on to the next chapter. No combat, no action just talking. As people said it felt like a movie rather than a game, I feel like this could be said for Kojimas xbox exclusive 'Overdose'. Knowing hes working with Jordan Peele, he has some A list actors in the game using motion capture with their small teaser I feel they will fall under that same trap of this game should of just been a movie. People said the same about Death Stranding but it works both ways because at least that game wasnt 7 hours in length but was 40 to 100 hours depending on how you played and now they are working on a movie and theres a 2nd game in development. But with Overdose it might just fall under the trope Hellblade 2, The Order 1886 and other games similar have. Great review and vid Pyro

Basically it has to be somewhat real at this point, if the humans are real(and they seem to be), they acknowledge the giants, they see them, mention them and what just happened etc. So either none of it is real, or it is real. Either way, its much less ambiguous than the first game. I watched a very short playthrough and at one point, the amount the player got to control and going back to a cutscene was 7 seconds. At that point, just make a longer cutscene.
