@@greatmightypanda scouts have a moderate durability, can deal lots of damage to air and a bit to ground when massed, like any air unit that can shoot both air and ground they form a deathball the issue is the cost but since Tassadar just shows up with them for free in Biting the Bullet theyre the reason why u win the mission

Can we all appreciate how good those modded models are? They look exactly like what Starcraft 1 would've looked like if it had come out when Starcraft 2 did. Plus with the classic sounds and music, it is pure art!

I think the answer is try to find some build that optimizes Siege Tank production with repair money and just hold that ramp on 1 base, when the enemy starts running out of steam from mining out take the expo to fund your money to crush them. The problem I see with this though is again, the money and the muta flanks. In normal 1v7 challenges you do spend the first 25-40 minutes depending on map just in your main with your ideally in base expansion waiting for the AI to mine out the map. There's no moving out or holding a position, you just fortify your ramp as hard as you can and turtle for 40 minutes until you can A move them with your chosen death weapon. I don't see it possible on this map because it's very vulnerable to mutas and your choke point does not include your expansion. You usually need a brutal choke point that includes your expansion.

I actually kinda lucked into a similar build in one of the few warcraft 3 skirmish games I ever played. I was playing night elves and basically ran a small crew of archers and huntresses around defensive moonwells against much bigger and higher-tech armies until the enemy ran out of money. By the time I'd built up an attacking army the enemy's bases were pretty much shot and their reinforcements were sparse. All about that resource efficiency man. I certainly didn't know the game well enough or have the fine control to win otherwise.

All the SC2 versions of this I've seen that succeeded were on maps made to accommodate 2v2v2v2, cuz it meant you could kill your neighbor and then fortify your now four bases.

Happy to see uThermal mentioned. I got into your channel simply because I was watching his stuff and the algorithm suggested me yours. Which was perfect. I dont care about competitive play, but I loved how he played with handicaps and gimmicks....which is what you do.

SC1 storms were indeed 112 damage, dealt in 8 hits of 14 damage. Notably, workers for two of the races die from three total ticks of damage, while the final worker takes *five* ticks to die. This contributes massively towards why storm drops onto mineral lines are so powerful in mid-late PvP and PvZ but almost never seen in PvT. (42 damage in 3 ticks to kill 40 HP workers and 56 damage in 4 to fail to kill 60 HP workers.)

I wonder if the bizarre bunker comp I used back in the days of brood war would work for this? 2 marines, 1 firebat, one GHOST. Ghostie was in there because of the range of the canister rifle. Made it much harder to out-range the bunker. I can't say it was *good*, but it was different, and maybe that difference would help.

It is probably a very good idea in this case because the Ghosts do full damage against small units such as zerglings, hydralisks and mutalisks but make it so that all the bunkers have ghosts in them.

At 12:40, when the tanks siege across the gap, that may be the key to victory. On lower difficulties, I've been able to trap more than 1 of the AI players into trying to "defend" that area by keeping armies there that can't shoot back. It burns them out faster and they don't contribute to the deathball at the front door. I also set up my wall and tanks farther forward on the low ground so that it is somewhat narrower of a chokepoint.

One of the weirder cheeses you can do against AI in BW is to build some cannons in the enemy base, then use a worker to attack a building; it pulls all their workers to defend and they die (as long as your cannons finish)

I would assume the strategy would be to saturate pop cap asap and then slowly transition to pop efficient units as losses happen, no? Resource efficiency doesn't matter as you will never be able to outlast them or outproduce so you need a force that can hold and start eliminating as fast as possible. And in this case production buildings are more important then their units as unit travel time becomes the time you have between enemy waves. If you production is alway in place to replace losses while enemy has to top and then travel, you're always in preferable supply, no? So your mistake was low number of barracks?

Fun fact: In SC1, Ensnare doesn't actually reduce Siege Tank or Goliath attack speed as their guns are considered a separate, invulnerable unit

Probably said elsewhere in the comments but they way uThermal achieved this is on a 2v2v2v2 map where you and one of the cheater ai share a choke. Building into the choke pulls the neighbors drones and you kill them early to take them off the table and take their minerals. Then you dig in at the choke and hold out until the 6 remaining ai mine out the map and then run out of units. From what I understand just letting them come to you on their terms is not good enough, you have to poke and provoke them into taking fights that are bad for them. Then, once they can no longer build units you have to do the terrifying act of leaving the choke and finishing off the remainder units.

If i remember my BW correctly, muta vs Goliath is really upgrade dependant; particularly the Goliath range boost... But, overall, goliaths have the edge in small engagements, but get steamrolled en mass without some marine+medic, BC, irradiate, or turret support (though, with support mass mutas quickly become unviable) Welcome to corrections in replies... I'm incredibly rusty

Imo not even considering the little amount of ressource available, abyss has quite the mediocre chokes. When Hydralisk cost as little as a roach and get Queen support I don't think holding them in at natural would work, I would have probably tried to make it work out of one base and pray Guardians don't start flanking from 360° angles lol. Would also play zerg, because BROOODWAAAAR

I think you can beat it on this exact map, protoss attempt was going very well, if you had more money in bank, via not building 9 gates for no reasone, and getting attack upgrade with no attacking unit, you would do really good, wouldn't you? They were almost out of gas, so only zerglings from that point. And Storms in sc 1, is just insta kill of zerglings...

You can't do this on the Abyss. You'll be trading your army positively, but not 7x positively. You need a map when you can take more bases than your opponents. I.e. by destroying them quickly enough.

You weren't really respecting the challenge. You came in without a plan when it took a professional grandmaster multiple attempts *with* a plan to achieve with a much wider toolset. Don't get me wrong, I do think you can do it, just... not like this. For example, in the Terran game, as soon as you have siege tanks, you don't need marines and medics anymore. Use goliaths or Valkyries for air defense and siege tanks for ground. Save the minerals for repairing the most health/space efficient wall you can build. For Protoss, Cannons are a good use of minerals, but your units should probably be 100% high templar and dark archon. If you are stealing every muta that attacks you and adding them to your defense like All-in, you'll probably last longer. Those are just my over-authoritatively stated suggestions. and by all means, disregard them, but just remember, it took someone experienced in these challenges multiple attempts with a plan to succeed.

​@@SOULsick0well, likely not, the amount of flexibility in the editor should make it possible to essentially add the exact units and resources and anything else... but the amount of work makes it unfeasable. The patching would be sc2s pathing though.

SC: Evo is the best Starcraft 2. I wish it was compatible with Wings of Liberty. I don't even want to understand how to play Legacy of the Void. It is the worst Starcraft 2 has to offer.
