We lived in BELIZE for five years and only had VHS. All of the tapes would grow mold from all of the humidity. I would sit for hours with socks on my hands and clean very tape in the VHS cartridge so we could watch something. It would take hours. We do not have electricity and ran the TV off of a car battery.
