The animation of Bull Demon King is as follows: 1. The young and ambitious Bull Demon King and Wukong became sworn brothers and joined forces to cause havoc in the Heavenly Palace, but they failed. Sun Wukong surrendered and became the lackey of the gods and Buddhas in exchange for the safety of his brothers and Huaguo (Flower Fruit) Mountain. 2. Bull King and Raksashi (Princess Iron Fan), who are already at odds, are divorcing and separating. However, Raksashi was tricked into giving birth by drinking from the river of child birth (the cutscene after fighting that secret boss) to the last Rakshasa tribe member, Hong Haier/Red Boy, and the two continued to maintain their marriage reluctantly. 3. Part of the original story + Black Myth modification. Red Boy was kidnapped and used as a hostage. Sun Wukong asked for The Plantain Fan to put out the Fire Mountain during the Journey to the west. Bull King was resentful of Heavenly Court because of his son and wife, and refused. Then the Raksashi couldn't bear the harassment and torture of Wukong, so he begged the Bull King to calm down and hand over the fan. 4. The stubborn Bull King refused to give in, so he was beaten down by Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong quietly warned the Bull Demon King not to resist anymore. Bull King, who had already expressed his intention to surrender, completely went berserk after hearing Bajie's (our pig unc) taunt about killing Princess Jade Face (The little fox's mother/Bull kings's concubine), and was eventually suppressed. (In the original novel, he was besieged and beheaded more than a dozen times. Under the threat of death, the old Bull King was frightened and subdued) 5. The power of heaven made Bull King despair. He compromised and knelt down for his family. But he believed that it was Sun Wukong who caused the misfortunes within his family. So after Sun Wukong betrayed Heaven, he immediately obeyed the orders of gods and Buddhas and teamed up to jump Wukong. 6. Sun Wukong lost to the combined forces of 6 demon kings (The bosses from previous chapters) and 1 god (Erlang) [this was the prologue] and died in battle. On his deathbed, the Bull Demon King heard his last words, began to understand his brother's painstaking efforts for their freedom, and regretted his actions. 7. The body of Sun Wukong was divided into six relics, and the Bull Demon King got one of them. 8. Red Boy, who is bent on revenge, asks the Bull Demon King for the relics to gain the power to take revenge on the heaven. The Bull Demon King did not want his son to die miserably, so he refused to hand him over, and the father and son turned against each other. The animation divides the above story into the sequence of 7, 5, 1, 2, 8, 3, 4, and 6, so like a montage Then after experiencing middle-aged crises such as the tragic death of his brother and lover, the rebellious son bent on committing suicide by fighting the heaven, the disappearance of his daughter, the breakdown of the relationship between husband and wife, Bull King became the decadent, old, and cowardly person seen in the game.

I think the first BK and Wukong battle in heaven was when they successfully wrecked the palace which earned BK his moniker (I say that because black bear says he dares not stand against the wrecker of the heavenly palace etc.. so they must have trashed it at some point just like Wukong did in JTTW). Then eventually Wukong was punished and after the 500 years he submitted to Buddha. It was during that time Wukong had encountered his old friend BK once again. In the JTTW it was because Wukong needed to retrieve the fan necessary to put out the fires on the mountain so his party could pass. Before that Red Boy was captured by Guanyin and submitted to her teachings, for which BK was angry at him for. Because Wukong and his master needed to pass, the heavens aided them in defeating the BK. He was then submitted as well. So it's like they are showing Wukong submitted and having to face his old friend BK.. then BK being beheaded (which doesn't kill him) and he is then submitted just like Wukong was... Then fast forward to the opening fight scene, the celestial court along with others have all teamed up against Wukong yet again. Erlang cast him down and then he's finished off by the group. Then as he passes BK holds him, both of them having turned on each other etc.

The guy with the fire wheels in the animatic is Prince Ne Zha, sometime spelled as Nata. He and Wukong fought early in the Journey to the West and was defeated. It was actually his defeat that convinced the Celestial Court to treat Wukong as a legitimate threat rather than a simple monkey. He is a famous character that appears in other Chinese folktales and (like Wukong) is a major inspiration for a lot of shonen characters. Particularly the angry ones with fire powers and intense family drama. The biggest one I can think of is Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia. Third son, fire powers, massive daddy issues. Other characters include Sanji from One Piece and Natsu from Fairy Tail

For anyone confused on Wukong and the Bull King’s dynamic in the cutscene, ill explain here: It starts with Wukong and the Bull, where they were once brothers in arms. They challenged heaven together and lost, with Wukong being imprisoned under a mountain before being forced to embark on the Journey to the West. The reason he was in a conflict with the Bull during the Journey is because he needed the Bull’s wife’s fan to cross a volcanic path. With help from the celestials (Nezha is the one with flame manip in the cutscene), they behead the bull many times and forcefully took the fan to cross the path. The journey itself was always something Wukong was forced to embark on, meaning the conflict was one that was forced upon them by heaven. Even the headband he was forced to wear is something used to control his actions and nerf his abilities (like in the intro), which is ultimately the thing used to seal him in the rock in BMW. This is why he looks down at the bull and says “find a master and serve the right, its the only path left for the likes of us”. Serving heaven unconditionally is the only way people like them can live in peace. They have already shown to be people who wont blindly follow the will of heaven, so their mere existence itself is threatening enough to heaven ( think when Wukong says, “i thought if i had merit and position, i could free us, but for me, staying alive is enough of a transgression”). Although they return the fan after using it, the Bull King, along with the other 4 final bosses in the game, jumped Wukong during the intro, along with Erlang and the 4 Kings, defeating him. Truly a tragic story between brothers, but beautifully told nonetheless.

Small thing to add: In the book Wukong tried to ask nicely for the fan, it was the Bull King that was being a dick and refuse to give it and it ended up in a fight. Bull King was very powerful and even Wukong had to ask for help from Celestial army to defeat him, hence the appearance of Nezha here. Bull King didn't die from beheading, his head kept growing back. It was just fresh wound to him, literally, nothing fatal. He got defeated in the end and got put in his place. After the conflict, Wukong did his best to make sure everyone in Bull King's family was not severely punished for hindering the journey to the west, since the journey was considered pretty important by the celestial court and Buddhas. Not the fox concubine tho, her behavior kinda ignites the whole conflict between Bull King and Wukong in the first place, and she was killed by Bajie during the fight. But Bull King's wife and son (Red Boy) was treated well afterwards.

I really like Chapter 5 because it plays a very crucial part to revealed the reason behind Wukong's death several hundred years ago - he was too much of a threat to be just left alone.

@@nasigil5928 Let me give you some context, Wukong on the Journey to the West did ask Bull King nicely for the usage of the fan, however, the fire was set by Wukong and the master as well. They can't afford to go around the fire so they seek the fan. So by context, Bull King and his wife are in no position to be forced to deal with Wukong's problem. Not to mention the tragedy of seperation from his wife (his wife bearing Red Boy and can't have any other child from that point on) caused by the Bull King's support to Wukong to the Heavens. They have served their punishment and imprisonment. Yet because of Wukong's problem, Wukong lead the whole army to wreck his family? Who's the dick now? However, through the chapter cutscenes, Bull King never regrets his decision to stand side by side with Wukong that he only keep the relic but did not use it, waiting for the Destined One even tho it sickens him inside, deteriorating his health along the way.

Just as a quick note, Afro, with the animation at the end. It looks like the devs have deviated from canon lore with their own little continuity as the Bull King was NOT present during Wukong's infamous havoc in heaven. In fact, Wukong legit solo'd the entire Celestial Court all at once and was winning but eventually was tricked and captured. That said, Bull King and Wukong were actually tight with one another after getting into a big fight before all that. Bull King and his wife Princess Iron Fan (Raksashi) were just chilling until they encountered Wukong during the actual journey to the west where the married couple roped the gang into their marriage problems essentially lol. Also, nobody actually died in the encounter aside from 1 evil demon concubine that was manipulating the Bull King. The real JTTW story was a lot more whimsical told in a monster/problem of the week style with less darkness/death than presented in the game. Also one last note. Red Boy iirc IS the legitimate son of the Bull King and Princess Iron Fan. No forced pregnancy or anything from a river

When you use the dark thunder transformation, make sure you have 3 fpcus points first and then instead of using your heavy attack, transform into the horse and go into hos dark thunder form and depending on your situation, try to get off 2 heavy attacks (try and somewhat corner the enemy first) and then instantly de transform and just cook the boss. This transformation is one of the most broken ones in the game

This advice here, I can second. Dark Thunder straight cooked bosses in my play through. There is so much build variety in this game. You think them shadow clones are overpowered? There some builds that make them look like trash and other builds that take them to a whole new level.

The kid with the fire under hid feet is Nezha, he has fire rings that are incredibly strong. Before wukong went to wreck the heavens and before the journey he fought nezha. I am pretty sure, its been long time since I read, they basically fought equals for a long time. This was when the heavens were scared of wukong and wanted to kill him. since that failed they later tried to control him.

Alright this is how i interpret this. Back in the day Wukkong was pissing Heaven off and his homebody Ox was with him. Then Wukong got locked up and Ox got punished for being an accessory to Wukong's crimes. Then Journey to the West. Then Ox got with heaven and went against Wukong. Wukong was killed and they cut him up. Damn. It really do be your own people.

From what I can understand from the ending animation, Wukong isn't necessarily the villain more so that the Bull Demon King and him were on opposing sides as the two of them were forced to serve heaven. Wukong being bond to it by the circlet on his head to follow the Tang Monk on the Journey to the West, and the Bull Demon King and his family still holding a grudge against him for previous altercations with his family on the journey. Wukong then attained Buddhahood after the journey was concluded, rejected it to be free and then fought back against heaven one more time which we saw at the beginning of the game, with the Bull Demon King and his other sworn brothers there as well like old times, but the circlet somehow came back. Allowing Erlang to deal the killing blow and the Bull Demon King to hold him in his arms as he dies.

It takes turns away from the original story but it seems the gist is that Wukong or Wukong and BK together at some point wrecked the heavenly palace. That is what caused the celestial court to finally try to punish Wukong after they send Erlang and friends to capture him. So they get lucky and capture him, but can't punish him cause he takes no damage lol. *(And to be fair, this is also when he busts out and starts wrecking everything for real). That's when he's trapped in the mountain by Buddha for the 500 years, then follows his master on the journey to India to protect him, which is where he met Bajie along the way etc. AFAIK the Bull King had managed to basically evade punishment for being a demon all that time and Wukong ran into him later out of necessity for his Journey. The only reason BK was submitted to the heavenly court in the story is because he wouldn't cooperate with them by just using the magic fan to put the fires out blocking the groups passage. He basically fought hard til the end, going against basically everybody all by himself, and was ultimately overwhelmed until he just gave up and submitted. So if you go off that general storyline then he would have submitted, served the court, and Wukong would have continued on his journey with Tripitaka. At some point later when returning, Wukong would decide to abandon heaven and see that they have come for him again, but this time sending an alliance of all his submitted demon friends as well. I feel like BK's shocked face at Wukong dying was kind of like "wait.. how?" Erlang said it himself, no one can kill Wukong.. so it's like somehow for the sake of an altered plot he was able to allow harm to come to himself in the fight. He somehow kind of like ended himself in order to pass his essence to another body that wouldn't be constrained by the headband. In the original story basically all the demons are the automatic villains but maybe in Black Myth it's more supposed to want you to treat the gods as the villains in a GOW kind of way.

All the lore you’re learning about Wukong himself is technically from before the journey to the west’s story it’s about how he became so powerful and his journey to challenge the heavens was in the “original” about boredom and testing his strength until he eventually tested Buddha and was placed into a mountain to wait for the monk who would take him on his journey to the west. The wukong of this story (as far as I can see and interpret) is “dead” but a form of his immortality is reincarnation or, the “destined one” you play as. Again this is just my interpretation based on the game and the myth.

Demon bull in chinese is design to be hard headed, easy to get triggered. In the real journey to the west, demon bull king is a bad influence to wukong, they were train under the same master but he was jealous that wukong is so strong. if not mistaken he wanted wukong to be his right hand man because with wukong they both are untouchable with the bull umpire. but again wukong choose to stay with his monkey >mountain. demon bull king eats human but wukong only eat fruit. He is one of the hard fought villian in journey to the west

Prince Ne Zha, he have a lot of movies about him. Single movies and even an animation series. He's a really interesting characters, his true form is somewhat look like a giant DEMON with 6 arms, 3 heads, each with their own heavenly weapon. But his core weapon would be the flaming wheels, the rope ( the floating things behind his back ) and his spear. NeZha have proven himself to be a worthy opponent to Wukong so much so Wukong acknowledge his strength and have ask his help to defeat this one demon ( The demon won tho... ). I didn't watch Journey to the West when it air on TV but i did watch a lot of NeZha ( Na Tra ) animation series growing up. It's a happy surprise that i found out, every summer at least 1 TV station would broadcast Journey to the West, that " tradition " still live on to this day

In the animation, Wukong was just putting on a show in front of Pigsy. Wukong didn’t want to have to face his former sworn brother, the Bull Demon King. That’s why he didn’t outright kill him and instead leaned in close to whisper some advice. He was telling the Bull Demon King to just forfeit and give in. To find a master and learn the ways of Buddhism in order to be spared and continue living without angering the Celestial Court. The only reason why the Bull Demon King was slain is because he felt enraged by Pigsy gloating about killing his fox girl. He went berserk and that was enough of a reason for the Celestial Court to go from apprehending him to straight up slaying him. If he had kept his cool and listened to Wukong’s advice, he would have survived. To be fair, under those circumstances and considering everything he went through, I would have acted the same as the Bull Demon King as well. 😅 Wukong actually showed him the future/alternate timeline of events. It can also be interpreted as a past cycle of life/reincarnation that the Bull Demon King witnessed. Wukong knew of what was to come, and tried to break the cycle. He did something different and changed fate. That’s why the Demon Bull King is still alive, and now old, instead of just dead. This is a part of a whole bigger plot line but I’ll explain that later in a one of your future episode. I hope you get to read this Afro and hope this clears things up!

Wukong wasn't showing the Bull King the future or an alternate timeline. It was the Bull King's own flashback of past events. He came to a realization from the flashback when Wukong was dying of all the mistakes he had made and that he misunderstood Wukong's intention to help him. Both Wukong and Bajie were putting on a show for the celestial court. After the flashback, you can see he regretted assisting the court to kill Wukong and even tried to shield him from the light. If you read the journal entry, we came to realize even after Wukong's death, Bull King continued to make the wrong decision.

It's probably too late at this point, but if you inflict the lightning debuff on the enemies (like with the loong staff heavy attack on pillar stance), enemies take more damage. So you should charge up a 3 or 4 point heavy as fast as possible, use it, and then start your light combos and spirit transforms for maximum damage while the icon slowly drains. You can tell the difference between "da baby's" at 37:19 and 37:55. But then again, play how you want, I'm not your mom. Loving the series regardless

What Bajie said is the original text from the journey to the west fiction, but he said it only to wukong, didn't say it to the Bull king directly. Bull King did have his head chopped off by Nezha several times ( 9 times?, he grew his head back) in the fiction, at last Bull King surrendered because it hurt too much.

For people who don’t understand, the fight at the beginning of the game was a plot between Erlang and Wukong to remove the headband that binds Wukong so that he isn’t truly free, and you are the mind of Wukong starting the journey again finding your other relics, you repeat the cycle of being sealed in the bad ending and break from it in the true/good

The lore of the game so far that I get from the game : Wukong born from stone learn daoist arts and gained divinity and called himself King. The court didn't like that so they sent the army to subjugate him. He managed to repel nezha but got put down by Erlang. And he became the prisoner with the golden hairband.
