I actually salute Simon for this. Not everyone has the cojones to go in there. He didn't hold back at showing the L. It's not a dent to his producing abilities. The guy's still an inspiring and effective educator.

Yeah.... it also kinda just seems like a sleazy strategy to me, honestly.... intentionally trying to piggyback off another producer's success, using their proven hit track to manipulate the judges/audience. Pretty obvious miscalculation though, IMO. Remixes typically do well with people partying at the club or general listeners, but his audience was other producers, and most producers I know are always going to be far more impressed by something new and original.

I feel like producers are reaching for newer sounds when there just isn’t much else you can do musically. Like todays producers are producing off kilter, awkward drum patterns and it’s being called “unique” and “original”. So truthfully I think producers criticizing production these days is counter productive considering the only way to impress any of them is unless you open the 8th gate on your daw and program a god-like 16 bar masterpiece while praying to god it’s outlandish enough

@11:06 "so was I able to win off the strength of my music alone?" Dude when you are sampling so hard, you look DUMB when you ask that question. I don't look down on people who sample. I do it sometimes, but don't pretend that you "created" something from scratch. "so was I able to win off the strength of my creative use of samples in a remix?" would have been an accurate question.
@damousx68602 ай бұрын
You know that sampling is a popular thing in beat battles right? I know what you’re saying but calling him dumb for sampling in a BB is very head ass
@fleshtonegolem2 ай бұрын
@@damousx6860 being accurate in your words is important. He didn't create that music. If they said strength of my remix that would have been fine. This is the distinction between people that "create" and people that take others creations and manipulate them. Those types of creativity are NOT the same. If you make a pizza from scratch, dough, sauce, toppings is that same the same as throwing in a frozen pizza and turning on the oven? Hell no, so don't treat remixing like it is your music. You are taking someone else's work and tweaking it you didn't create, you "changed" don't pretend you did more than you did.
