Hey Billy! New subscriber here! So- my husband and I had to watch the video a couple times to get the meaning behind it... but this is what we came up with... So the video is a symbolic representation of a Christian life. The astronaut suit, shows that we are born into and visiting a hostile planet. Because Earth is not our true home. We are visiting a world that is plagued with sickness, war, violence.... hostile world. His memories of his life with his wife who dies... as many of us lose our spouses and children in our lives... we all go through loss and hard times. When he comes up to people and hands them the patches.... he is sharing the Gospel of Christ with them and being a comfort to them as well. At the end... he takes off the suit as an old man because his time has finally come to leave the hostile planet and go Home to Heaven. At least that's what my husband and I got from it. Hope that helps!

I liked the song b4 watching the Offical Video, but LOVED this song after watching the video. BTW, I know Bart, Members of his band, went to church with them, lived next door to Barts mom. Our kids played extra curricular activities together & socialized etc.Then they moved to Nashville, but still keep in touch via social media. Dope huh?

Beautiful song and the first time I have heard it. But I am stuck on the astronaut thing. For most of the video, I was thinking that it was he that was sick and the astronaut suit was his protection from the environment, people, etc. Especially since he was wearing it as a boy. B Then when he took it off and left it at the end, made me think he did not need it, because he was Home. That maybe the people helping him up, were helping him in the transition from this life to his Heavenly life. Maybe? I will have to search out the meaning. Its a great video, no matter what. As is the song.

Maybe referencing that just as astronauts are travelers to a place they don't belong...so are we traveling here on earth and our home truly is heaven. I saw the astronaut as a Christian who is trying to live in a world that is alien to him - his home is heaven. He passes his source of faith (the badge) on to others. When he crosses the bridge into heaven, those he helped are there to help him out of the restrictive "clothing" that is our fleshly bodies, and to freedom.
