I like that he came in expecting Coldplay, because the radio experience of that era was very much expecting Coldplay. But, just occasionally, Muse would happen.

They just released Won't Stand Down single just last week. The entire Muse fandom went nuts because they went back to their iconic heavy rock roots (similar to this song). You should check that out too!

Took my daughter to see Muse, it was her 1st concert when she was 12. I found seats to the side of the stage about 40 ft away from Matt's piano and Amp 🤘We saw them 3 times total, some of the best live shows ever!

They actually turned the outro riff into a song 12 years after the songs release, though it is only part of the live performance and can't be found on the album version
@musejames932 жыл бұрын
What outro riff? Township rebellion?
@thee27242 жыл бұрын
I think you're referring to Psycho which was edited out of this video. Neither Township Rebellion or the wall of noise have been featured in studio tracks since this gig

There is rarely a dull moment at Muse shows. They never stop. After songs they break down into super heavy jams and then just go right into the next song. Aggressive is a good way to describe their stage show. Their live performance is probably what officially sold me as a fan during the Absolution tour. When I say I'm a Muse fan, people immediately think of the most radio-friendly version of Muse like Madness or Starlight. That wouldn't bother me except then those same people then come to Muse shows with their girlfriends that like "that song from the radio", and while I'm jumping around and rocking out, they are standing there wondering what the heck is happening! ... Didn't expect to go on that tangent when I started writing. Nice reaction and all that haha! Definitely check out more Muse, especially the live variety.

Wow, that show brings back some memories. I was lucky enough to go to the show the night before that and was in the second row of the crowd. I've never been so squashed in my life but damn it was epic! A whole 18 years ago now! Muse's back catalogue is epic. Hysteria and Deadstar are personal favourites

Concerning songs like Stockholm Syndrome in live, Muse like to add as outro, guitar riffs from bands they love like Nirvana, Deftones, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine. Also, they frequently played a riff made by them which will become the song Psycho in 2015 on their 7th album called Drones.

"You've not head a word he's said", that's a mix of some of the distortion he uses on the vocal and this is poorly recorded example of the song. Earls court wasn't specifically recorded for anything, probably come from the mixing board at the time. Live at the Mayan as has already been mentioned is a much better example and also has Stockholm Syndrome on. Some of the examples that were recorded by BBC (Glasto) don't have a great mix on the broadcast recording.
@Gr33nMamba2 жыл бұрын
Also....Since you're UK, the last tour "Simulation Theory" was recorded is on BBC iPlayer as a whole, worth a watch if you want example of more than just one genre, although doesn't contain that much from earlier albums. Includes subtitles if you're really struggling. 😄
@TheMiataDriver2 жыл бұрын
And also a lot of distorsion on Matt's voice, especially on The Small Print .... which is bloody awsome!!!! 🤩
