Another great video, man! Loving the Isles trek. Now to history mode a bit, that area was controlling like 2/3 of Scotland from there, because most of all of the Hebrides and the Isles were controlled by the Irish that came over and began ruling western Scotland from there. The first kings of Alba were all descended from the first Irish people that came in. So historically, that area was one of your first kingdoms that developed into Scotland..... Many years down the road. I'm leaving a bunch of crap out, but that's the jist. As for that spag bol, you're going to need to keep at least a thing of garlic in the crib. Garlic will save anything from bland! Beautiful area mate and I hope I can get over there one day! Those oysters looked amazing, so I hope to try out the oyster shed some day.
@wanderingwhere11 ай бұрын
wow fantastic thankyou so much, kept getting hints of the irish influence as ive travelled through the islands but had no idea it was this deep ...... oh and the garlic yeh seemed to have misplaced my garlic powder might need to reinvest 😀
@mattwitmore11 ай бұрын
@@wanderingwhere you're welcome! Oh the Irish influence is so strong throughout Scotland. Just like Scottish Gaelic has its roots in Irish Gaelic. It spread from the Irish that moved into the west and then evolved over time to be separate. It's really amazing to learn the history. In fact, somewhere over there near the mainland where you were is Dunadd Fort, east of the northern tip of Jura, is the kings footprint. It was where all early kings of Dál Riata were "coronated" by placing their foot in it and tying themselves to the land. So yeah man, you're all over where I have wanted to go! I love that stuff! Yeah, just stay away from those sneaky co-op's, or they might charge you 10 quid for a bottle of garlic! 😂😂😂
@wanderingwhere11 ай бұрын
@@mattwitmore it really does have a fantastically rich history scotland, seems nearly everywhere you go has a tale to tell, the more i go there the more i want to know about it, seems like im slowly on a historical 😉pilgrimage the more i go there ..... lol the co op they used to have a monopoly on the small villages around the uk now they own the scottish islands
@mattwitmore11 ай бұрын
@@wanderingwhere yeah man, the history is just so incredibly deep and rich with so many stories. In fact, one of my ancestral clans had their castle destroyed by Queen Mary when they refused a demand to attend court. She sent a ship with a canon on it up around the north coast by the rival clan, to blow up the castle and hang the clan chief. It blows my mind, how much I am constantly learning about the history. Oh it ain't just the islands either! You go up north and there's two ns of villages with only a co-op for the messages. Dude it's so gnarly too. They get away with robbery because there's no other choice! 😂

Pasta is designed to soak up the sauce...as an Italian chef once said...." you taka da pasta and put it in da sauce " I dont know why we persist in putting dry pasta underneath the sauce ... thats why the pasta goes into lumps. If you mix it first with the sauce you get the proper dish.
@jasongoodrich111 ай бұрын
It's actually a matter of preference. But it also depends on what your making. Pasta salad has to be mixed where as spaghetti can be either or. I think what your talking about is the amount of time cooking the sauce. If you can cook down the sauce for three hours, the sauce is good enough to put on top If it's a quick cook time it may be better to mix the sauce to as you say let the pasta soak up the suace. That's why they serve most pasta dishes with bread because your actually supposed to use the bread to soak up the sauce off your plate. Some people do not like soggy pasta but no one likes crunchy pasta. I hope this cleared up your confusion. Cheers
