@@denverrandy7143 Maybe maybe not, but i guarantee the ash and rose resonate far better than plywood for example. So im sure it feels more alive and responsive in your hands. Isn't that important too? Im sure that the inspiration you get from having a good quality instrument comes through in your tone! And id be willing to bet that you think it LOOKS awsome as well, and you cant hear that in the mix either. Or can you? There are a ton of important aspects about a guitar that you might not hear on the record, but it doesn't make them less important. Your time in the studio can only be measured in hours, but you'll have that guitar you love for decades! I look at my guitars hanging on the wall, not only as a tool for making music, but also as beautiful works of art. I think they are all beautiful but the ones with the rare woods and stunning finishes call to me and make me want to play them. That equals practice! Can you hear practice time in your tone? I would argue that practice is one of the most important parts of any tone. Stevie Ray could rip your head off playing an old Harmony through a Gorilla. I actually have a real world use for something like this. Not as a guitar mic, but as a vocal mic on stage specifically for backing vocals. My former guitar teacher Joel Hoekstra uses a different but similar version of something like this where his backing vocal mic only activates when he's in front of it during Whitesnake shows. He gave me the original idea and it is really useful with my current gig working as a hired guy for a pop singer. The gain compensation could be really useful in that situation. Or a complete nightmare for the sound guy... Not sure on that one yet but damn it i say we test it and make him earn that meager pitence of a paycheck!!! And yes i realize the irony of a hired musician in pop music talking on a metal channel. Love metal, but my pop gig is consistent. Consistently decent pay and a very tightly run professional operation where the bass player is not trying to figure out how to bum enough money off his friends to drive his mom's mini van to practice or shows

Sounds great on the cab. Not so much for your standard recording set up. It was always just a little to hot for my ears. It was almost on the verge of distorting. And honestly a podcast set up 101 might be a good idea. A common thing I always see with first timers after spending way to much on an SM7. Great mic but if you are starting out there are so many options that will get you the same results for a lot less money. The 57, the 58, even the 55 the list goes on and on. Anyway after spending money on a mic they don't really need. First timers 9 times out 10 sit way to close, turn the gain up to high, and don't even use a wind sock let alone a pop filter.

Interesting mic! I was thinking, from my own experience, this mic could easily become your general video overhead mic, just because the autogain will make for much more seamless edits, audio-wise. Editing is going to make your image jump around the screen (even if just a little) but getting the audio levels the same between cuts isn't necessarily instant and easy, and fussing about making it "sound the same / right" isn't necessarily the best use of your time.

I am interested in a new mic for that kind of casual vocal recording, so I'm totally the audience for this. I have an Aston Stealth and I recognize it's a great mic, but the size and weight are quite impractical. Though it still sounds a little early days for this new tech, so I'm still more tempted to the 440 pure at the moment, just to keep the budget low. Though I'm not sure what I need to know to know whether it's the mic for me.

GGGLLLEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!! So I bought it and tried it and it was shite unfortunately. Maybe I got a dud one but I'm sending it back tomorrow for a refund. I'm admittedly being slightly harsh as it kind of works but nowhere near as well as I'd need it to. I tried backing off the mic slowly to around 3 feet (at the same time as using a 2nd regular condenser mic in parallel) and it didn't really do anything to compensate, then the gain just jumped up when I moved back slightly further. No good. Also, the low cut when you're up close is way too much. Could be okay on a female vocal but not a deeper voice. Hopefully they'll develop it further as I think it's a great concept but for now I'm out I'm afraid...
