Great to see someone with years of ownership. Mind giving the rest of us feedback on your experience wearing it over the last five years? Have you ever had it serviced? how are scratches? This really might be my first watch, ever.
@bartglover224 жыл бұрын
TheGiantBunnysaid 1. Mine is similar to SBGH 213 2. No requirement for service yet 3. The watch is beautifully finished and polished to an exceptional standard. 4. The cream coloured dial has a warm feel to it and sets off the hour markers beautifully. The markers stand proud of the face and with the high level of polishing play wonderfully with light and shadow. Some call the colour butter or cream but I think the GS designers are smarter than that. I think it reflects or copies two o’clock daylight thus it looks so perfect in daylight conditions. 5. The strap is it’s weakest point but I’ve learned to love it. 6. SIMPLICITY is a Japanese characteristic and because of the designs simplicity you are mesmerised by the play on light shadow shine and shape and a tiny detail like a blue second hand takes on a significance only a Japanese watchmaker could achieve. Less is More. Hope this helps.

I’ve had my snowflake since October 2019 and I wear it all the time and yes it scratches but being titanium the scratches kind of oxidise after a day or so and then you can hardly see them which is strange, however it doesn’t scratch any more than my Rolex Explorer 214270 did.

Just got the Snowflake last week and the SBGA413 looks just as beautiful. The Spring Drive watches are unique and superb on several levels: the flawless finishing, the lightweight high intensity titanium, beautiful dials, scratch resistance of the titanium, the accuracy of the spring drive and the relative bargain in terms of cost. Dear Teddy, I fallen in love with this watch the first time I had the chance to put my eyes and fingers on it at the AD in Florence - Ponte Vecchio. A few week ago I finally surrended and now my wrist is married with the Shunbun...It's really hard to resist to its ever-changing dial and to the unmatched finishing of the case and bracelet. It is true that videos and pictures are not fair with Grand Seiko and its secret beauty that is unveiled only with the hands-on experience. But this is also part of the success of Grand Seiko! Thank you for your great reviews and passion. I'm happy to be now oart of the GS9 community and hope to have the chance to pair the Shunbun with another gem from their gorgeous production. For example my first approach to the GS world was the "Lake Suwa"...but it was too late as this limited series was already out of stock! What is your opinion on Lake Suwa? I hope the lake Suwa dial will be re-used by Grand Seiko so that I can complement my GS collection! Happy New Year from an italian "TB Fan" !!!

I was buying my first luxury watch and deciding between this and the SBGA211 (snowflake) was impossibly hard. The dealer looked at me like I was crazy and I swapped them on and off my wrist, moving into the sunlight. Both are gorgeous, and I could see myself going back for this in a few years if it's still around.

@kosar1934 жыл бұрын
Until Seiko addresses the cheap non micro bracelet it will never have mainstream acceptance let alone considered luxury. Seiko blows its load on the dial and finish and fails on the important bracelet. Until then it’s a really flawed watch. Way better watches for this price point.

I bought a snowflake about 9 months ago. Engraved near the crown is: "9R65-0AE0 A4 in a square and a bar with a U standing on it. All I know is that I got a Tudor Pelagos at the same time. After a few days of use, the Tudor Pelagos stopped (Dec 19) It is still in the shop for warranty. The GS is still on my wrist, working, revealing time and date on a regular basis without a problem. Every time I glance at it, I can see the time and I also see the snowflake face, which is replacing my interest altogether in my Batman Rolex. This GS just keeps giving me what I want in a watch. It keeps on working flawlessly. I rarely need to wind it. As long as it is my rotation, I don't give it any attention at all. I will give you a nine month summary of wearing it in the garden while I work; in the garage while I work on sports cars and on my wrist during essential shopping and social distancing. I alternate it with a nice Triumph limited edition battery watch that is large for when I want a large face on my wrist. I carefully ensure that my GS is wound before I put on the other watch. I have so many watches that I don't know what to do with them all, but most of them are designer or theme watches that do not have a great deal of value. Still I do have those and an Omega among my collection. The understated elegance of my watch and the rock solid reliability and very little wear marks on the band and none of the polished surfaces of the watch which are, surprisingly, apparently highly resistant to scratches, wear or marring. As for the above watch in this vlog, I like it, but I prefer the less showy or more pronounced design of the SBGA413. Having both said how much I dislike my Tudor's results, I do love its styling, although since it only worked for five days, and has been in the shop now for six months, I don't get to look at its styling. Meantime, my GS is endearing itself to me. AF

Such a stunning piece! Gotta say that’s another outstanding model from GS. Personally, I’d still prefer my GS snowflake though. For simply the slight pink on power indicator & 21mm lug width limit this piece from being a strap monster. Snowflake on the other hand, is absolutely gorgeous on tons of different leather straps.

don't know why they always have some print on the back of the sapphire glass (on limited versions) it's just blocking the view and it's quite ugly....
@varanid94 жыл бұрын
It is rather intrusive; too big and kinda defeats the purpose of having a see through back.
@squeaks56354 жыл бұрын
It is not on all limited models. Check out some of the older automatics, they did cool things with the weights, like the SBGJ021 or SBGH269 they have done several unique things for previous limited releases. I do agree that the printing on the sapphire is trashy . . . . .

I'm pretty sure that it's intended to emulate the gold colour medallion that was fitted to the closed casebacks of the original GrandSeiko models of 60's & 70's. Don't think the printing works though.

I tried this on at the AD vs the Winter version today. I was convinced I’d prefer the Winter one, but once on the wrist - this version is stunning. Dial is fantastic. Even more engaging to look at than the Snowflake dial too (which is also great).

Great video, I can't get enough of Grand Seiko. I love my green dial Hi-Beat SBGH261. I thought for sure a Spring Drive would be my first GS, but a great deal popped up on this 250 piece Limited Edition JDM automatic, so I pounced (I'm also a sucker for green dials). I tried on the Snowflake at an AD and was immediately struck by its lightweight titanium construction. Really liked that. What I really dislike on most Spring Drives is the power gauge on the dial, so I'm hoping GS releases a titanium model with the just announced 9RA5 movement with a power gauge set inside the display back. I agree 100% with your callout about their logo on the display back. I can't understand why they do that. The finishing and decoration on the movement is gorgeous, please stop obscuring it with graphics and crazy rotors, Grand Seiko!

The sweep second hand glides beautifully, smoother than a Rolex.
@joeschlicht4 жыл бұрын
Yes, because of the Spring Drive movement. It's remarkable.
@S5King74 жыл бұрын
Can you really observe that much of a difference in the sweep vs Rolex? I think Rolex has 5 "ticks" per second, looks pretty smooth to me.
@Jabber-ig3iw4 жыл бұрын
Neil Gregory ticks? The GS spring drive has none, even under a loupe it looks smooth
