I really struggle trying to punish this weapon while using set ups that cannot trade. I'm forced to switch to hardprio unreactable stuff like Gkat FS and go for vortex. Patas feels like dual Spears with a huge recovery buff, it feels quite braindead as a weapon on my opinion because of how op and easy to use is. Katars were already a very good weapon. Idk why they gave us the same weapon on steroids without any drawbacks

I usually parry since people using it have enough brainrot to be predictable, but I am aware that's not an actual solution against a good opponent.

@@m3ssagefromthekingfist already counters guard set ups, dueling shield is not free win against fist, you might feel like that cuz you dkn't see the stamina and just see your attacj getting blocked, but I can assure you the guy using dueling shield shit his pants with the stamina damage

@@bourhinorc1421 My guy I say this because I have fought against many pata users with the dueling shield. If you know what you are doing and you have a decent setup(which is really just shield and turtle talisman), it's an easy W. Now I will say that the pata is an overtuned weapon but it does have counters...it's just that it's counters are also equally overtuned.

I'd like to imagine the balance team discussing what weapons to add into the DLC and Michael Zaki just busted his way through the meeting door, drew the katar, have a stroke halfway through and dragged his pencil a bit too long and mis-spelled the name. Then everyone just stood up and gave a standing ovation and added the weapon without testing it. Edit: Love the Armored Core music. Contact with you and Balteus is unironically one of the best boss they ever design. Good bosses doesn't need to be hard but it needs to be fun and engaging.

@@ni9274it is not when you know what you’re doing and what you want out of the game. look up to sf6 the game is not perfect but the current gameplay is pretty much agreed by the community to be pretty solid and balanced across the board

The worst part is that there is no way to balance it after it had greenlight because it breaks the whole design philosophy of fist weapons that is be fast short ranged weapons, pata shouldnt exist on the first place and now they can do nothing about it except remove the thing out of the game

Heavily nerf the forward momentum, heavily nerf the damage, increase stamina cost of attacking, remove the rr2 true combo and that would be it. The advantage of fist is that even if its short, it has so much forward momentum that if you whiff against fist, you're in a world of pain and its not your turn until the fist user decides that he has used enough stamina.

I played around with cragblade pata in arena for a while on the previous patch, probably the easiest setup I’ve ever touched besides pre-dlc PSS. It’s basically spacing for dummies.

@@SfcSpadesRpgRakshasa ash of war can be reaction rolled. As long as you poise break your opponent before they can spam hyper armor, you can beat the Rakshasa katana. It is a really annoying trading tool though.

As absurd as Pata is I do still appreciate it as an anti-light roll weapon. They gave us more cancer to deal with the cancer we already had.

Backhand Blade running attack is good enough for dealing with light roll users. Pata has an even more cancer moveset and range than Backhand Blade. BB is only broken because of its damage and blind spot ash of war. Pata is completely broken in every way: recovery time, moveset, damage, trading, etc.

@@crackededge9351 well, BB is also broken because of the frame data of its crouch attack, and the forward momentum of its running attack. Also swift slash is still op when you integrate it into the moveset, not as spamable anymore but still broken. But ya, BB is good for dealing with lightroll too

@@sadorphanboy1949 Swift slash is still toxic on bleed builds (it instant procs bleed) but it’s dodgeable on every other build now if you know when to lock off your opponent and roll diagonally.

Messers assault aow is so cancer I carry a backup weapon with giant hunt on it just to knock people out of its animation. It's almost literally impossible to punish otherwise.

It is strong, but that is just due to the range from what I can see and any other weapon with barbaric roar could most likely out damage it, except for spears... They have a very strange barbaric roar heavy... But this pales in comparison to the hand axe and stone club endure

@@itslilithsan7130 I do too. That's why I have like 1.2k hours in DS3. But in Elden Ring, you have to go through so much cancer before you win, that there's only so much I can take before it's no longer fun and I stop invading.
