We are full time travellers and KZbin is our go to for entertainment. Enjoying your content and the refreshing approach to looking at what has become the main stay for travellers. Some influencers make some great content but often the issue is that this medium has become so saturated that it’s hard to produce content that appears original. A lot of the content is over hyped as they bid for views. Viewers could often be mistaken for thinking that all the content makers are at the one location. Happy to share. Cheers Coxy

Hey David, Thanks for your comment and watching mate. Very well said KZbin is going off at the moment, I think people need to just be them selfs and not try to be what they think the audiance want. I am stocked to be on 5k subs and we look at KZbin as a bit of fun not a buissness, it doesn,t pay enough to run as a bussniess with out breaking your morals.

Well done lads 👏🏻👏🏻 As a farmer who’s always towed trailers and machinery not keen on another license but maybe a segment on the actual laws What speed can you go for your weight , at your GCM 4500 or 6000 what speed can you legally do is it 110 , 100 or 80 are the states the same because they aren’t One pack wanderers have finished Aus , this was their 2nd go at doing the lap. Definitely Watch the first series Their 1st trip was so good Mazda gave them a Ute to drive the mainland then a car for Tassie when they came back. A couple of van tubes NOW Newhouse on Wheels a early retirement couple from WA doing the lap , seem to find different places to stay than a lot of others Chasing an Adventure , QLD couple with child & dog again 1 year for the lap Use or not all good Keep safe 👨🏻‍🌾👍

Hey mate that is a great point!!! I thought in Queensland the Max was 90 or 100 when towing? Shit so long since I sat my licence I can't remember 😅 Surely in WA they can't go 130! Cheers guys, in my opinion yes a caravan or mandatory course is a good idea, I have done a group style course with the I-venture club (Isuzu Ute) and a one on one course with a provider a year later, and in my opinion I am now a safer driver because of the courses, it was well worth the investment for my and my families safety. The private course also included a weigh in too. It could also include a UHF etiquette component too. I have come across Nomads and Sam as good watch. Happy for or to use this comment

Hey guys great episode. The chat about remote breakdown surrounding Lifestyle Pioneers is an interesting one. You take your car to a reputable shop to try and ensure it’s done right but sadly humans are imperfect beings and mistakes can happen. Our preference is always to be remote and driving a Jeep there is always the added worry about sourcing parts 😂 Ultimately if you are prepared with the required supplies and knowledge to travel remote it’s worth the risk in our opinion. Regards to towing licence I agree it’s a good idea especially for people new to towing. Even just education around awareness on the road especially holding up traffic and trucks. I also think over weight is a bigger issue. We just did 3 weeks away and covered 7,500km and man there was some scary set ups. See you next week.
@Off.Track4x4
@Off.Track4x4 Ай бұрын
Hey mate thanks for commenting again 👍 😀 I'm with you it's terrifying seeing some of the massively overweight or poorly set up with suspension and hitch positions making the back of the vehicles 3-4 inches lower then the front! The steering would be off its head lighy and you would have no control of the set up. Good on you getting around in a Jeep! I love the Jeeps but just so scares of them breaking only heard bad things sadly how has your been on reliability?
@filthyoffroadadventures

@@Off.Track4x4 touch wood we have always had good runs with Jeeps. The JK before our Gladiator did over 300k and only had serving. We also look after our gear and also set them up for adventure touring not hardcore rock crawling. It can do it just not what we go looking for. 😂 Gladiator is just about to tick over 80k. All cars break at some point the only issue with Jeeps is getting parts can be slower sadly.

A mechanic did not tighten up the wheel nuts and my friends mother drove the car home from mechanic the wheel came off and she went down the side of a mountain, not found til next day. She now has brain damage. Thankfully survived. From a safety perspective there is no excuses as you are trusting the knowledge policy and procedures of the mechanic doing the job properly. Just IMO
@filthyoffroadadventures
@filthyoffroadadventures Ай бұрын
@@CooeeAdventures wow that’s a horrible story. Agree things like this should never happen especially something so simple as wheel nuts. This also raises another consideration about the advantage of having some minor level mechanical knowledge and understanding so you can be aware of when things don’t sound right or feel right. I am lucky I have worked on cars and bikes since I was a kid but most people have no idea. Could be a worthwhile skill for people to learn just the basics at least and may help prevent horrible stories like yours.
@CooeeAdventures
@CooeeAdventures Ай бұрын
@@filthyoffroadadventures Yes true that basic skills is important. I always freak out when I hear a noise that isn't meant to be. I have a personal story where I had noisy breaks, I turned around went back down the mountain and straight to the mechanic. Turns out the breaks were just sitting in the calipers and thats it. The mechanic had taken the car around the block to hear the noise and kept saying to me when I came back to pick up car, he could have died, he could have died OMG... I had driven down the mountain with breaks just sitting in the calipers!!!!

Another lot of very interesting list of topics raised. I’m not in favour of caravan licenses, however if it’s your first caravan I think a driver education course would assist the first time caravaners in towing and backing the caravan. A vehicle dealership is trained on non modified vehicles, it becomes a bit difficult when servicing modified vehicles as they are modified in many varied ways. We look forward to next week’s episode.

Premium YT, with no ads, still makes money for the content creator from the 'ads' - it's a percentage thingy. Internet download and upload speeds are often different because your internet service provider throttles upload speeds. This enables them to save money because they can cut the cost of providing data while also meeting customer needs, which often don’t include fast upload speeds.

one of the biggest problems I have towing a van is the lack of awareness of other vehicles around you, they still assume you can stop and accelerate like a normal vehicle especially in heavy traffic situations where I am trying to give room to the car in front. I agree if you have never towed a van before you should be taught some basics before setting off, maybe something like a half day course endorsement on your licence similar to boats and jet skis.

Firstly, really enjoying watching you lads talk about caravan/4WD and YT related stuff. Also really enjoy watching the smack downs from Lloyd. Can of worms = Caravan licencing We can't agree on Daylight svaings, how on earth are we going to agree on a license/training that meets a national standard. Which it needs to be. I agree with the reduction in rego/insurance for doing a towing course up to 3.5t. anything over you are into MR license territory and should have the requiste towing license to tow above 3.5t I signed out of premium, and let the video run to get more ad revenue. Hey guys, I'm lov'n this content, and it looks like many others are too. You're on a good thing here. Also, use my comments if worthy. I think a follow-up 'yarn' topic should be caravan weights and weight distribution. Some people need to become more aware/responsible in this area and not just take the sales brochure or salesperson's word on weight capacities. E.g. GVM, GCM, ATM, BTC etc. This understanding is not only for their family's safety but for the safety of all other road users. I would prioritise this issue over obtaining a caravan/trailer licence for a non-professional road user. Cheers Paul 👍

Hi guys, Have just found your channel and find it really refreshing, informative and i have had a few good laughs with some of your comments about other youtubers. I do think that some sort of education program should be introduce but like you worry it will just become a money spinner for private companies if made compulsory. Having said that there is a lot to know about towing a caravan and it is obvious when out on the road that there is a lack of knowledge out there. Couple of classics and possible topics for future discussion. Towing a van with no towing mirrors. Understanding weights Uhf radios and how to use them. Perhaps should be mandatory for over a certain size van. Mind you it would be helpful if the truckies didnt have such foul mouths. (It seems the round town clowns are the worst. Not so much the interstaters.) I also find it interesting that wide load pilot vehicles will tell oncoming trucks (which are the same width as my van the details of their load but not caravans. And my favourite pet hate. Old mate who had heaps of time to come over and have a chat about your rig and setup and waits until your hooking up and finals checks to come over. Happy for you to use all or part of my comments.

This is such a great comment!! We have tried to have the UHF on channel 40 when towing the van, but the truckies just talk to much rubbish that you end up with a headache 🤣😅🤣 But I think it would be great to see them become mandatory for over a certain side and a designated caravan channel be assigned. Thank you for the comment and support mate 😊🙏👌

Fellas, get yourself a cloud service of some description. The 15GB "Google Drive" we have attached to our Gmail email is free. So even if you're on opposite ends of the country, you can upload full res video files to the cloud and share them between each other easily. The two of us have done that at times, or used it to share footage in collab projects etc. 🍻

Hey mate, thanks for for watching and commenting appreciate the support and help from you guys. We had plenty of places to upload to for free, our issue was the 16 hours it was going to take to upload to Google drive using starlink in a caravan without endless power. I know you can winzip and compress files to send them quickly, but can you do that with a video file and not lose the video quality?
@TorqHub
@TorqHub Ай бұрын
@Off.Track4x4 No problem fellas, enjoy listening to the chats on those long night shifts lol. Yeah I'm hearin ya. The upload speed thing is an absolute joke, and not something well covered by people using Starlink. It's all just centred around the impressive downloads. I was just thinking that if if were less than half of the total data required for the video production, the juice may be worth the squeeze. Surely there must be a work around, with a majority of these creators you speak about uploading regular videos from out whoop whoop, are they just persisting with uploads which take literally ALL DAY? The Winzip thing is an excellent question though, and not something I've tried. Could be worth experimenting with.

First thing is people need to be taught how to drive a car, not just steer it from point to point before they should tow a van. The amount of people that brake for every advisory speed sign on country roads and sit 20-30 kmh below the limit is staggering
@Off.Track4x4
@Off.Track4x4 Ай бұрын
Hey mate, this is a very interesting comment! 👍 I feel the police are partly to blame for this, people can't afford the cost of a speeding fine these days, and cops are doing everything they can do to catch people even if they are only 3kms over. You now have people using adaptive cruise control and setting it to 15km/h under the limits to keep them safe. Also I know on the highway our van tows better at 90kms/h so in WA we would 40km/h under the speed limit on a single lane high way. That's dangerously under the speed of an approaching car. But how do you fix that? It would be dangerous for a car and caravan to go 130km/h
@PeterGibson-z8f
@PeterGibson-z8f Ай бұрын
@@Off.Track4x4 max speed limit is WA is 110km/h, max speed when towing anything at all is 100km/h. 90 is fine I think if you can maintain 90 constantly. I think the bit that annoys people is when people start going even slower, then decide to boot it right before the overtaking lanes. It's bad here in WA when you see a fully loaded road train trying to overtake caravans on the overtaking lanes as they're going too slow for even them.

Why do a lot of channels release videos on the weekend, normally sunday morning rather than during the week?
@Off.Track4x4
@Off.Track4x4 Ай бұрын
Hey mate, I can actually Answer this with facts 😁 So we all get to see data on what days and times our subscribers are most on youtube, week days it's only 3 hours most people are on. Sunday it's from 7am-10pm at night. So you make more money on a Sunday upload.

New to your channel guys, but absolutely agree, so many great honest, shows have sold to sponsorship, I fully get why $$, but have dropped virtually all my favourites after years of religiously watching, as I found they were just playing to the audience in stead of filming their trip. And yeh like you say, do they believe their own shit still, or is it in the contract. Time will tell I suppose. On another topic ADU ruined the camp booking at Perlubie before we got to visit after over staying and group packing the place out on their last visit. Streaky bay has very strict booking arrangements now, spoilt it for all!

I think people maybe just need to work on their own cars more if going remote, then you can trust what has been done. So many mechanics (well all other trades as well) are under the pump to perform on unrealistic time limits. Quality of work goes down.

Mate this is such a good comment!!! I saw a board up in the work shop of one of the big car manufacturers and it had, "labour charged" "actually time taken" "profit made" Never went back they are definitely under the pump. That's why I only use small mechanics where the owner does the work. If they stuff up comes out of their pocket. Do you mind if we use this comment next week?
