Despite what a lot of commenters are telling you, tawny frogmouths are not owls. Both owls and frogmouths are nocturnal birds of prey, but they aren't closely related and are quite different. Owls have strong feet (talons) and narrow beaks like a hawk or eagle: they catch prey with their claws. Frogmouths have weak feet and wide beaks: they catch prey in their beaks, Frogmouths are more closely related to nightjars, swifts, and hummingbirds (!) than to owls.

In Australia we don’t tip at all, the ‘tip’ is apart of the overall price of the product/service it’s pretty much you pay, they do their job/or buy your food and there no more money spent, it’s just one payment usually

These Whales are truly magnificent and huge creatures. Once when I was supervising maintenance work on some equipment on a jetty in Karratha as Blue Whale swam underneath us and as it passed by it lifted its tail out of the water, 20 feet in the air, something I'll never forget.

Being required to tip for anything other than exceptional service is an abomination. People should be paid properly to do their job and shouldn't have to rely on charity. Re the window tinting, if the house was properly designed, the sun would come in in winter to warm the house and not in summer. "Servo" is a contraction of "service station". "Tooheys" is a brand of awful mass produced lager.

That owl is a a Tawny Frogmouth. It's a master of camouflage, when it's not mistaken for an owl, the Tawny Frogmouth can easily be confused with a tree branch! Tawny Frogmouths are between 34cm (females) and 53cm (males) long and can weigh up to 680g.

The black and white thongs are closer to our old school heritage thongs. Green and gold are our national colours and come from our national floral emblem: the Wattle. I think we steered clear of red, white and blue because the same colours are on the British flag. Whale watching is common all the way around Australia. Usually when they are migrating.

The platypus is smaller than most people think, males are about 50cm long and weigh about 1.5kg and females are smaller, usually about 40cm long and weighing 1kg. When seen in a water tank in a zoo lensing makes creatures appear to be around 1/3 larger.

I would buy those thongs but they need to be in green and gold because that’s our Aussie colours. 😊 The whole gas station is the servo, it’s short for service station. And as for tinting the house windows, we have been doing this to our house since the 70s. It does make a huge difference. House stays cooler and stops the glare of the sun. 😊

Red white and blue are the colours of the US. Green and gold (yellow) are the colours of Australia. Black and silver (white) are the national colours of NZ, red ochre is sometimes also used, and their flag is also red white and blue in colour. Not every country has their national colours on their flags. The best way to tell what a county's national colours are is to look at the colours of the uniforms of their national sports teams in international competitions.

Happy Arvo to you too Ryan and family 😁 Green and gold thongs would be a hit as these colours are synonymous with Australia 🇦🇺 💚💛 I drive an Isuzu MU-X or MUX and I’ve never had an issue with the nose or tail poking out of a car park. Most later model cars have reverse assist cameras so I don’t get how he could be protruding so far out. 🤷🏼‍♀️ In Queensland, I’ve noticed over the years how a house era can be easily identified. Pre 60’s we’re stucco cottages and the classic Queenslanders usually high-set on stumps to achieve air-flow, front veranda, hallway straight up the centre of the house from the front to the back door, bedrooms off to each side. Or the double storey brick (both 60’s & 70’s) 70’s houses were just timber rectangles, quite plain and ugly and we called them cookie cutter style, nothing special. 80’s-90’s similar but low-set brick or rendered brick became popular and later around 2015 onwards these double storey modern rendered houses which all look the same - again, cookie cutter. All I can say is don’t come home drunk, you could end up at your neighbours house! Yep a servo is a petrol station or gas station. Servo is Service station shortened of course, in true Aussie fashion 😉 That poor turtle😢this is the result of stupid mindless people littering and it ending up in our waterways (Tooheys Extra Dry is beer) so very sad. That’s a Tawney Mouthed Owl, beautiful birds ❤️ Aww an albino Playtypus, how cool is that? 🤍

I live in an isolated part of Australia and today I noticed our local woolies has installed anti theft cameras in the self serve checkout. Never thought I’d see big city culture in our small town. Poor female employee was going around apologising to customers for having their transactions recorded on camera. Locals will definitely boycott the store. bet we see woolies throwing out a lot of produce because nobody is buying it. It will cost them. Maybe even close because people don’t like being accused of stealing when in fact they are only trying to scan their items.

Self checkouts: Customers have many options available, full service checkout, self checkout, various order via app options such as click-and-collect (an app where the store packs your order, you drive into the click-and-collect bays, a person comes out with your bags and places them into the trunk for you), or click-and-collect requesting a food delivery service such as Uber, or they deliver via their own trucks within a predetermined time range selected by the customer, or using a food delivery service to actually do the shopping on the customers behalf. So there is no need for people to be angry about self service, they don't need to use it if they don't want to, it's just one of many choices available to the customer, and that's what it's all about, customer choices.

Food delivery services: Maybe people don't have their own car, or they have been drinking, or they are with a group of friends watching a movie or a sports game, maybe they're busy at work and don't have the time to drive and wait for their order, especially if it's a 20 - 40 minute round trip and finding parking is a hassle, it's a work function where the cost of a delivery service is cheaper than the hourly rate of an employee, or they have had a busy day and are tired and just want to go home and relax, or they are sick or ill - there are many reasons where the convenience of a food delivery service outweighs the extra cost of a food delivery service.

It's WoolworthS lol you were meant to move the s, not remove it I agree with the other comment, just call it "Woolies", that's what we all do anyway. Last time I was actually instore, I even heard an instore announcement with the staff member saying "thank you for shopping at woolies the fresh food people"

SUVs became a thing because car companies wanted to avoid the stricter environmental and fuel economy laws that cars are subject to, SUVs are classed as light trucks which have less strict rules and are also more profitable, SUVs make car dependency even worse in so many ways.

Mirror tint on the house… how many birds are going to brain themselves this summer???

Well, they won’t brain themselves because they’ll try to avoid the other bird. It’s non-reflective windows they have a problem with.

I just got an online credit card payment reversed by my bank. Never received the goods. It took two days from lodging the online dispute form to getting notice of a refund. I sent them the email thread of the dispute and could show the delivery details were fake. Only $55 but still, they were scammers.

same, well similar, I purchased online from a bricks & mortar store, waited a month & no item or communication other than confirmation they had taken my money, tried calling them & repeatedly they would answer & either not be able to hear me or pretend they couldn't, so lodged a chargeback & they processed it without 48 hours

Correct - Bloop the white platypus is leucistic, not albino. There's only been 12 previously documented since 1835.

I won’t use a self check out as I am not paid by the company to do so. It is illegal to drive bare foot in the vehicle. Service station = servo

He has to show up at the property because deliveries are GPS tagged, it won't allow him to mark delivered without being at the address, and it'd look hella sus if he weren't there too.

No where I live we dont tip menulog - at those prices no way. When I got my licence in the 70's, driving barefoot was illegal. Those cladded houses can have so many defects at handover (see funny guy st Site inpections YT) Servo = Service Station. He is a Tawny Frogmouth, they camoflage as a broken branch. Good show Ryan.😊

Are we sure that platypus didn't have a white shopping bag wrapped around it? .. Ryan, the black and white thongs are very New Zealand. Black and white (or silver) are their sporting colours. Eg, the All Blacks (rugby), the Tall Blacks (basketball), the Black Caps (cricket), the All Whites (soccer) the Silver ferns (netball) and probably a few others that I'm not aware of. .. don't worry though. There are plenty of Kiwi's living in Australia :)

Don't forget the New Zealand Ice Hockey teams: the Ice Blacks Men's team and the Ice Fernz Women's Team. Yes, New Zealand has ice hockey.
