Luckily with Deebo Samuel there to take some gadget play snaps and the 9ers having other options on offense, CMC won't have to carry an entire offensive workload every single game. The Hock trade was honestly a good move, because he is going to command 13+ million after next year. He was never a big part of the Ben Johnson offense and he struggles as a blocker. As a Bears fan, I don't know how to feel. I'm heartbroken losing Smith, but a deal just was unfortunately just not gonna get done. If he signs with another team for anything less than $19 million a year, I'm going to be livid with the Bears. I like getting Claypool, he has a lot of potential and I feel like getting out of the cesspool of Pittsburgh could only help. However, trading our 2nd for him does sting a bit. Definitely a bit of an overpay, but he's young and has the talent to be a good player. We maybe could have gotten better in the draft, but I think Poles knows that the Bears are only allowed to hit on half of their offensive draft picks and didnt want to take the risk of totally missing on a WR in the early rounds. That being said, depending on how Claypool does, I still want the Bears to draft a receiver and early.

Tree, I believe somewhere in my history of DMs and podcasts that I've been allowed to speak on where you have been an observer that I have mentioned the NFL making the deadline as much of a spectacle as what the NHL and TSN do in Canada. This is only a matter of time now. As for the Bears, $125 million in cap space means if anyone's getting paid they'd better sharpen their resumes now - and if our pick in the 1st is at a QB level with no other BPA for our needs, there's a very high chance the Bears trade down. There's no FA WR of note coming up and it's pretty obvious the Steelers weren't paying Claypool. He has 1.5 years to prove himself to the Bears if he wants paid. He gets separation and we need that - diva or not. If he divas too hard, we can always have him meet Mr. Butkus...

I'm a big fan of the Ridley trade for Jacksonville. If it works out, it cost Jacksonville a 5th and maximum a 2nd for what could be Lawrence's Stefon Diggs. I'd ask you to reconsider your stance on the Ridley trade. Not to be overly biased but you're getting a previously highly productive receiver, a position of big need in JAX, for at most a 2nd and 5th.
