Honestly, it wouldn't be difficult to use technology with ~2010 performance in phones, we just need the software for it. If we had actual Windows running, we could game a lot of games. But it wouldn't be too usable since you had no keyboard and very small interfaces (problem with touch).

Khaffit XCOM:EW is the expansion version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, XCOm Enemy Within in full name. It also isn’t a bad port, it isn’t missing anything that a fully bought version of XCOM 1 on PC has. Yes it can’t do mods, but that would be the nature of it on mobile. However when I want to do a quick tactical mission or play some on the go when not near my laptop or desktop, I can play the mobile version. Yes the graphics don’t look great but that isn’t the point of XCOM as a game. Also the further my point to the main comment, Mini Metro, and Plague Inc. are also on mobile, Mini Metro being an excellent simple puzzle game, well mostly simple anyway, and Plague Inc. is the same as the PC version even, fully, no graphical changes.

I’ve got an LN2 cooler developed for phones, but I believe the screen will crack (especially with the metal phone backing contracting). It works great with regular ice cubes as well which as a cool benefit keeps your hands from getting sweaty during intense gaming. Unfortunately it’s not a commercial product yet, but hey, if someone’s interested I can crank out a revision 2 prototype! It also works with dry ice but frostbite hazard.

@ilikepie1974
@ilikepie1974 4 жыл бұрын
I'm probably late but, I own a red magic 3. Quick* review: I bought the phone because of its huge battery, it delivers in that category. Camera has a great sensor but it's over sharpened to heck in software. 90hz screen is nice, gets fairly dark on the low end, doesn't get terribly bright though. Dual speakers are nice, and having an audio jack is very nice. USB C is nice, I'll never go back to micro B, and USB OTG is fun to play with, and useful at times due to lack of an SD card slot. Dual SIM is nice. It's good at playing pubg mobile, and really nice for Pokemon go (see battery). According to my girlfriend, the only person I really call, it sucks at being a cell phone. Screen protectors and cases are easy to find for the phone, and even without them the phone is relatively durable (don't drop it on your face it's heavy) RGB lights on the back are stupid but fun, the side triggers are actually nice, but my right trigger acts up from time to time. *I guess it wasn't that quick. If I forgot anything ask lol

I would be really curious to see what, if any, performance differences there are between my ROG 2 and the Red Magic 3. I'm not really a mobile gamer but I really love the 120hz display. The ROG 2 also comes with one of those attachable fan things and I wonder how much better it is if you are using one that was designed specifically for the phone. Added benefit being it plugs directly into the phone via a side usb c port and has an extra usb and headphone jack on the fan itself.

@FlameRat_YehLon 4 жыл бұрын
@@philistine3260 The point would be that the phone might drop in price I guess... Also by far IIRC only Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro (neither are mass produced yet) got Snapdragon 865 so the "point" can stay for like 3 more months, not to mention it's still more heavily marketed in media creation and consumption, rather than gaming (so, thermal throttling might be a bit more aggressive).

I think phones should have a piece of copper on the SoC that can be accessed from the rear with a removable cover on it (the cover is so you don't burn your fingers while holding the phone) so when you put something like a case or other accessory on it, it has the opportunity to act as a proper cooler. After all glass isn't great for conducting heat. Lol.

Linus, those 5V TEC's love power, I have played around with a few of them myself, and my findings are that they draw around 3A on startup, but as they reach their 'thermoequilibrium of operation', they are drawing around 2.2-2.8A from a 5V power source; your bottleneck is probably either A: that your power bank can only supply 1-2A of current, or B: that the terrible implementation of the micro-USB is limiting current to around 2A. if they had used a type-c USB, and specified that you utilize a power source capable of sustained 3A, than this product would almost definitely perform much better.

@yubinator7455
@yubinator7455 2 жыл бұрын
@@FirstGateNAN the problem is that most of the USB port of the coolers are using are the cheap/ standard ones so the micro USB will only go up to 2A or worse. I think it won't even support the 5V 3A of power bricks nowadays(but maybe it will, I might be wrong). All the Phone coolers that use TEC modules that I see online only support up to 5V 1.5A to 2A only and the expensive ones support 5V 3A to 9V 2A.

@peite7878
@peite7878 11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I wish phones had magnetic backsides and there were passive heatsinks with/without watercooling that you could easily clip on that would cover a larger area. Problem is all phones has different size so it would be great if one could adjust the heatsink size flexibly in some way (maybe cut-able with scissor like flexible insoles for shoes. Could have pre-made cutting marks). and if we are going to hold it in our hands the heatsinks needs a plastic ergonomic cover to prevent cutting or burning yourself on the heatsink. I think we will see interesting solutions in the future.

I'm surprised at these results. I've seen other benchmarks that suggest that the fan in the Red Dragon 3s doesn't provide enough cooling effect to boost performance. Your test seemed to show otherwise. BTW, I believe your can use the software to turn the fan off, which could allow you to run the same test, but the fan off, and compare the results.

I think the reason why the magic phone suprisingly hotter than the note 10 is because the fan is mounted inside the phone and encased by metal back (Which in general is thermal conductor). But with the heat trapped inside is then generated by the fan which flows directly into other thermal conductive mechanisms that are commonly mounted on the front glass panel. Given there are tiniest holes as vents and the thick metal back will more likely sucking the air in the beginning and the gap between. Leaves the front panel warmth as opposed to metal back ( even though glass are insulators and poor thermal conductors) it would act like an electric stove.

I'm curious if just gluing a CPU heatsink to the back of your device might not work just as well. I mean they come in all shapes and sizes, you can sand down the rough edges of the sink and they can probably be cooled with ambient air since they wouldn't be in a closed environment. And if you wanted to you could add a fan- I guess. They make tablet and cellphone grips that look like this already so all you would really be doing is changing out the material with a better heat conductor.

@nialltracey2599
@nialltracey2599 4 жыл бұрын
Isn't that fan back-to-front? I thought the principle with ventilation fans was always to blow outwards, creating a void that in turn draws fresh air into the enclosure through the passive vents. Trying to blow air into an enclosed space meets resistance from the air that's already there. And not even just an enclosed space, either. Consider your average desk fan, pedestal fan or handheld battery fan. It draws as much air from behind it as it blows out in front of it... and yet it feels like there's more movement in front than behind. The rear side of the fan achieves smooth airflow as dropping the pressure doesn't create friction. Increasing pressure does, as the fast-moving air from the fan gets pushed against the slow-moving air already in the space. When you have a fan pointing into an enclosed space, the problem of pressure and resistance gets worse, as the restricted outflow increases the pressure, further reducing the airflow and compromising the cooling efficiency. This is a principle that as a PC builder you probably apply automatically, cos that's just the way it's done, but there's an increasing trend for cheap coolers like this one to have been manufactured without consulting anyone who understands cooling design, and that always leads to applying the common misunderstanding that fans are there to blow *on* things, rather than move air.
