First time watcher to your channel here. Liked your review. Here’s my 2 cents… Wow this is an adventure! Nothing like I would assume it to be. Phenomenal progression. I love how the nose, palate, and finish all reflect one another in an exciting and unexpected way. If you find this bottle buy it. Maybe buy two… The nose is soft. It boasts a unique symphony of cola or maybe Dr Pepper syrup as well as a lemon limey almost sprite-esque effervescence. There’s also cherry cordials, ginger, beets fresh from the earth, a campfire on a breezy fall evening. All of that’s wrapped in a sheer film of the signature spicey peaty wall of smoke the standard 10yo boasts. The palate is so vibrant! The peat smoke is the first thing you get. Right behind it is a wonderful slightly bitter and spicey ginger punch. The intensity subsides into soft tones of dried cherries, currants, and dates alongside a silky syrupy mouthfeel. In the finish there’s Swiss milk chocolate, more-ish oak tannins, and lingering campfire aromas.

It’s great but add a little water, it’s fantastic. I normally never ever add water to my scotch, but this one does some great things to it. Worth a try.

Fantastic review of an absolutely fantastic whisky. Agree that it is super complex, I get brie, smokey bacon and cranberries. After doing a tasting with a brand representative, he didn't think that the whisky was coloured and that it wasn't chill-filtered. Subscribed for more great videos! Cheers

from the other replies from other reviews, i saw that in germany it is mandatory to show the ingredients. and a person in germany confirmed that there is no E150a caramel added.

I love the color. They wouldn't need to add color with sherry casks?

Sometimes the do. Sometimes it's corporate policy, too.

All those flavor profiles....wonderful!!..now light them on fire! Very nice to see we found one we like. I've had this for about two weeks and it just gets better down past the shoulder. I think it's more delicate then the 10 on steroids. The 43% is a peat joke that some people even like. This 10 year sherry is almost worth the extra money. I do agree that it could be sweeter but we could say that about anything. It is absolutely different enough to be a serious alternative in my CS Laphroaig stable. I'm not spending over $100 US /bottle so I don't know about the geriatric bottles but we'll see how it stands next to the PX Cairdeas 👍

Agreed MA, this is a good whisky. I feel the sherry finish tones down Laphroaig’s rough edges a bit which makes me feel Laphroaig is best left to bourbon casks. Surely a Laphroaig 10 @ 48% abv beats this if matured in bourbon casks.Nevertheless, we should thank Laphroaig for catering to the popular demand and releasing a sherried whisky. Definitely adds variety to their range, well done to them.

oh yes, well done indeed Laphroaig

In a online distillery chat master distiller confirmed that at least this expression as well as 10 Cask Strength are both natural color and non chil filtered. I just don’t have any idea why they don’t put that on the bottle!

Wish this was out yesterday! I saw one on the shelf but it’s double the price of the regular 10 so I declined. I did not notice the proof on it (although the US 10 is 43% not 40 so less of a difference). when I saw the price and didn’t see the words cask strength I thought it had to be overpriced. Your notes make me wish I’d gone for it

Go for it anyway.

I don't know what to make of this. I've just bought a Williamson (teaspooned Laphroaig) 10 year, fully matured ex-sherry for about the same price. It's only marginally cheaper than the 10 year Cask Strength. (Oh, if only the regular 10 was bottled at this strength.) I guess it's up there with Kilchoman Loch Gorm prices. I am a Laphroaig fanboy, like you, which is why I'm so critical of their range and the infuriating colouring and filtering. I routinely drink better IB Laphroaig than the distillery releases apart from the 10 Cask Strength. However, as we share similar tastes you've convinced me to get some and I love smoked ham/bacon notes and maple syrup. It might actually be my sweet spot as it's mostly ex-bourbon and a touch of sherry. One of my favourite Laphroaig's was a stunning Hunter Laing single cask 12 year refill-sherry (50%) some years ago. I still have one bottle and if we get together I'll crack it. Excellent review and Good Day! WT

I want to bean Ardbeg fan but I buy Laphroaigs as soon as I see them. For about the same price as Uigeadail. I mean I'll never buy a Laph10 but " go team Cairdeas!"
@MaltActivist3 жыл бұрын
keep that Laphroaig safe till next year. Hopefully we get to crack it open in Islay along with a few more choice drams.

Saw this on the shelf last week ($90ish) and said I’ll get it next time. Interesting. I’m thinking something like the Lore, also @ 48%. What your opinion compared. Thanks

I prefer this to the Lore personally. I think more a more complex bouquet of flavors.
