That’s exactly it. Actually the doll’s head would also melt if you leave her with a wig on. Theres like a reaction that happened with the plastic that kinda melted together. Is something that happens a lot when you collect vintage Barbie dolls. But everything can be fixed! As a collector what you have in your hands is pure gold

Howdy, Barbie collector here. I will say the wigs do come off the white stand. After many decades the vinyl wig caps stick to the Wig stand. If you work it a bit they will come off

I think so too....and the head is a replacement head for your barbie made for wigs. I remember in 1964 going to a birthday party of a child of a coworker to my mother..she bought her a similar individual Barbie for a a gift and I remenber the blue eye shadow.When I got one a little later,I remember being frustrated because her arms - elbows and knees did not bend and clothes were really hard to put on them. That was 1964 and I was 4...they got better later and made tge waists turn,and bend at the knees and ekbows .

Fun fact: The reason the head from the wardrobe set is changing colors is because of something commonly referred to by collectors as "green ear". It's a chemical reaction between the metal in the earrings and the vinyl head, and is very common on 60s era Barbies. It CAN be reversed with enough time and patience, if anyone is wondering.

Collector here! The wigs did in fact come off the stand and were intended to use on the included head! You could switch the head with the Barbie you already had, a cheaper option versus buying a whole new Barbie. My vintage set had one wig stuck, and the other two fell off the stand because the pegs melted. Guessing yours did some weird plastic fusion too! 💀💀💀😂😂😅

Oh I’m so jelly and a lil sad …I collected Barbie when I was a kid I had a giant red toy box full of all my treasured Barbie’s some super old ones too, lots of originals -it was a thing between me and my grandmother that every christmas (and birthdays) she got me a new barbie and I pretended I didn’t know what was in the box 😂when I was 11 my families storage unit(we were between houses ) was robbed and when they caught the people they had us come identify what was there(which wasn’t much they got lost of it lots of heirlooms too) I got so excited when I saw my red toy box - I can still remember my heart dropping when I opened the very empty box!..stealing is wrong but stealing from children is REALLY wrong! 😢 if I were you I’d just keep it forever I’ve found a couple of cool ones for my daughter but not many! 💔❤

My mom had this Barbie and let me play with it in the 80’s when I was a kid. I couldn’t understand why they made a Barbie without hair on her head. I thought the wigs were interesting though. Then came the phase where I wanted to cut Barbie’s hair. I didn’t get anymore Barbie’s for awhile eventually I grew out of that and started collecting all the Barbie’s. I had kept some in the boxes.
