I'm still in the same guild i joined at ~ level 20 in 2019. For many of us Cata, MoP and Draenor are completly new content because we never played it back when they were current content. The quick content pace is really nice, so we don't get burned out on farming a single Raid for a year. In regards to classic+.... it's a dream that will never come true because classic+ is something entirely different for everyone you ask.

As someone who missed Cata/MoP first go around, Cata has been great so far. Actual difficult raids/fun dungeons and yeah 1-85 isnt the same as vanilla, but for raiding/experiencing the expansion it has been fantastic.

14:30 mop actually had a really good world I feel, that's why people regard it well. Lots of world bosses that you definitely wanted to kill every week, having to farm reroll tokens, flying to your farm and thats when they introduced pet battles which i spent a lot of time in mop leveling pets to sell

Have 1 TBC and 1 Wrath server that reset every 2 years and each of them that never reset so people can transfer chars before resets. I bet those servers will have more players than retail.

I am a huge fan of classic WoW and BC but I have to say when I tried out MoP back in the day I really enjoyed the Asian aesthetic of the world and NPC's. Listening to loremaster Cho talk to me about the lore of the world and the story build was unlike anything I have ever experienced in WoW before. He was literally giving me pearls of wisdom as I listened to him. I was also high 24/7 while I was playing the game lol.

Classic MOP is going to sweep back in players... mainly because it had SO MUCH CONTENT! 5 Massive zones, 3 that progress more than once, one of the best raid tiers ever designed, one of the best world PVP area's ever designed, incredible dungeons, challenge modes, pet battles, we finally ride celestial dragons and Timeless Isle is an island that STILL draws in dozens-to-hundreds of players PER DAY 10 years later!!!

I loved Vanilla and TBC Classic and it wasn't nostalgia (started in Wrath) it was just a different vibe where the world and levelling were a large part of the game. As we went in to Wrath and now Cata the focus shifts to get you to end game asap to run dungeons and raids, if I wanted that I'd play Retail, so I did and went back to Retail.

My thoughts on MoP 1 - If you can get past the panda aesthetics, it's a better expansion than Cata. The zones are better, the story is better (even if you hate the pandas, unlike Cata stuff, at least they weren't treated as a meme by the devs themselves, and based Garrosh and big-D Lei'Shen were infinitely better villains than Deathwing, or Cata Rag who was riding off his vanilla popularity), the raids are better, the dungeons are better, the classes are better. The only main thing worse I can think of is talents suck. 2 - I think more people have nostalgia for Cata than MoP, at least, I know of way more people who started playing in Cata than started playing in MoP. I don't think nostalgia will be a big selling point like the previous expansions. I think the classic crew has all jumped ship after Wrath save people who started in Cata and beyond, or people wanting to redo the raids, as Cata doesn't offer anything besides that. 3 - MoP unironically has a better world than Cata, of course it's _nothing_ on the vanilla world, but Cata destroyed the old zones, added only 5 new zones, most of which sucked (We didn't get the Hyjal we wanted, we got one with lava vomited all over it, Vashj'ir was actually really cool visually and atmospherically, but the underwater gameplay ruined it, Deepholme was probably the least bad, but it was pretty boring, Uldum could have been great, but then entire zone was dedicated to pop-culture memes, and not in the good way like old Un'goro, and that ruined it, and Twilight Highlands overstayed it's welcome) , they turned every zone in to one long quest chain, and the stuff to do out in the world after hitting max was lacking. MoP dialed all of that shitty stuff back, the new zones, if you can get by the Eastern aesthetics, all looked good, and Timeless Isle was actually good. 4 - I actually took my first break from WoW during MoP so played it a few months less than Cata, that said, in Cata I still had other people relying on me so I stuck around far longer than I normally would have, otherwise I would have played it less. 5 - Not MoP specifically, but classic is nearing it's "inferior retail" point (one might say Cata hit that, but as "eh" as Cata and MoP are, I would still say it isn't until WoD that line is crossed). It's very easy to brush off retail and say F that since it's not the game we are looking for, but I think with DF Blizzard finally realized "Hey, these are two separate games!" and retail has been doing it's own thing and improved because of that (Even though I am not a DF fan, nobody can deny it tried to be it's own thing and because of that has been the best thing retail has had since Legion). I like to look at vanilla and retail like Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 on the NES, if you pick up Zelda 2 and are expecting a solid sequel to Zelda 1, you are in for a world of disappointment. If you pick up Zelda 2 and go in expecting a solid NES action side-scroller, you will be rather happy with the product. Loads of people on both ends compare the two when they have diverged to the point you really can't (as the same game anyway, not talking two different games). Going back to Cata, WoD, etc. they have the unfortunate position of not appealing to either audience, and I don't think they have enough of an audience on their own to hold up.

I love EVERY THING about Classic Vanilla except for the idea that I am forced to raid to gain PVP gear. I want to World PVP without having to spam raids. Meanwhile, every other XPAC kills the world with flying mounts and new continents. Now, permitting people to gain PVP gear through honor-grinding would make raiders upset as their gear won't be as relevant for PVP content. Where's the balance to make both sides happy for Classic Plus?

The world and the immersion being in the world with other players is what makes it an MMORPG, instanced content in 2024 is just a multiplayer content. Take a game like Vermintide it has dungeon runs with other players and loot along with gear progression but it's not an MMORPG.

WoD was not so bad, the worst thing about it was that long period without any new content, which they can shorten now and release Legion sooner. Theme-wise I liked WoD much more than Legion, BFA or even Cata and MoP. I mean, I don't play classic post TBC, but I don't see why classic WoD would be worse than any other expansion after WOTLK.

Cata raids and the class kits are great but I am going to WoW retire again after I clear Heroic Firelands a few times. I know Dragonsoul isn't worth it and I am not into Pandaland at all. I want off this hamster wheel. I am going all in on Ashes of Creation. The "classic era" crowd needs to realize they are lucky they even keep those servers running (they are not making $$$ of those). Our kids might love classic+ someday but I doubt it.
