This solution is enabled via max4live, so make sure you own a copy of it before picking up these plugin wrappers. Also, this does not work for every plugin in the sound toys bundle, as it isn't possible for every plugin to be ported in this way.

This is fantastic and I might pick up a copy. That being said this really shouldn't have to exist and is just an affect of one the many completely unnecessary limitations of Live (like only being able to mix in session view) that could be easily solved with a keyboard shortcut or detachable windows like basically every other DAW.

what if your plugins are out of date and you have the wrapper latest version though? Am I forced to always update to latest version of plugin?

Wonder how much CPU? ....it would be in the Template for sure, an would be a new constant in any project from now on (Soundtoys) so i cant have to much baggage (cpu etc) . Im (setup) super sensitive , If I had to weigh out 1New Deviced ///vs\\\ 2having to open plugin window, I probably wont use it often if its not %100 Rock-Solid (not saying it isnt...i own a copy myselft)

I wonder how this will work for plugins that only have some of the parameters natively mapped in Ableton. This should really be implemented by Ableton and plugin developers. I think I'm not going to use M4L for this, to prevent the likelihood of problems and unexpected crashes. I might be wrong. How stable do you find these to be?

The idea is great, but there is one problem. If the vst plugin is updated in the future and the parameter name is changed (this happens often), this M4L plugin will not work correctly. For example, if you write down an automation, it will stop working after an update.

Plugin companies have to make their changes backward compatible too, they can add new functions, modes, but they cannot change existing stuff in a simlple x.35 update, because it'll mess with your previous projects. ( if you download the new update, open your project and you find that all the parameters, automation is all over the place... you'll be angry ) ValhallaDSP just dropped Supermassive, and Delay Version 2.5, and it was easy to update the wrappers too :)

A question: where to I place the wrapper? Is this a Max effect? A VST? Something to store in my SoundToys VST folder where it will be detected and used? I know you're not tech support for Ellsa, but I learned of this handy tool from you.

It's a max4live audio effect, so it appears by default within that folder on your machine. You can also store them wherever you want and bring them in manually.

@@homelandelisabeth7090 I did find that and installed accordingly. I gather the vst2 and vst3 versions can sit side by side in the same folder and Live & Max will sort correctly automatically. My first install copy and pasted your vst2 and vst3 folders into my Max Audio Effects folder. They didn't work yesterday and I'm doing some cutting and pasting and rescanning plug ins to try and get them functioning. I will stay at it....

That would be so cool if live 12 would do this by default .... but I've heard that they are more into "AI" renaming tracks .... WOW ..... It would be great if Ableton Live copy other DAW by showing VERTICAL plugins instead of this old fashion horizontal bar

So… can you exactly point out what is the game change to workflow? I bet you that if you was able to detach native plugins to separate windows it would boost workflow much better as it was no more necessary to jump between tracks to control plugins. This is useless.
