Can you do a video on how to mix 808s like on Ken Carson’s instrumentals, I tried a few things and got closest to the vibe when I went in the reds and it started cutting away from the sound. The 808 sounded the part but there was no more headroom. Is there a trick that I’m missing? I tried adding drive and compression / saturation from OTT and another plugins.

It’s a “stereo maximizer-enhancer”. Yeah, it’s basically some sort of compression/saturation plugin but it’s very limited with only one knob. It also doesn’t give the same saturation/distortion effect that other “saturation” plugins do

From the root note frequency, do 1/2 or whole steps correlate to odd or even order harmonics? Does saturation cause artificial harmonics (audible unplayed note)? For brass instruments, is the vibration and windspeed akin to frequency, and are the bore/embechure/instruments material makeup some saturation components?

"do 1/2 or whole steps correlate to odd or even order harmonics" - Most notes within a scale will not correspond directly with the harmonics of a fundamental note, other than the fifths and octaves, starting from the octave above the fundamental, which will correspond with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 16th, etc harmonics (each octave is double the frequency of the previous so the octaves are the 2nd, 4th, 8th, 16th, etc. Each fifth is halfway between the octaves, so correspond to the 3rd, 6th, 12th, etc). This is probably why odd harmonics sound more aggressive, because many (but not all) of the even harmonics correspond to notes that are in-tune, whereas most of the odd harmonics (excepting the 3rd) do not.
