The claws are bone. The director stated that he didn’t like the look of the original bone claws so he gave them the bladed look but they are indeed bone which is why he loses 3 of them part way through the fight.

I thought Magneto’s character design and look, albeit fun could have been more fitting to Cyclops, would definitely have passed as a Cyclops prior to donning the helmet, the helmet by the way was fantastic.
