Cats do have a lot of loyalty. They don't sell out easily, but if you show respect and love, consistently, they'll repay you with the sweetest friendship you'll ever have. My cat used to look at me for approval before letting anyone pet him. Never touched my food, never jumped into bed unless invited, and he even learned to accept my kisses on his very sensitive little nose. He understood, that's how I express my love. I'm a grandma to 3 wonderful bunnies. My daughter cannot have bio kids, but she has such a strong, wonderful maternal instinct. We always had cats & dogs while my kids were growing up & I figured she'd get a puppy. But one day in March about 3 yrs ago, she was at a farm store ( we live in a smallish farming community) & she saw baby rabbits for sale. A clerk said they were being sold for meat stock. They didnt even know what breed(s) they were. My daughter flipped her lid! She wanted all, but it wouldn't be practical. She picked an all black girl, named her Athena & proceeded to read & watch everything she could get her hands on. Now she honestly knows as much about them as her vet. He told her so & was serious. In the 3 yrs. since rescuing Athena from the "meat pen", she now has Artemis, a nutty playful girl who loves to run & binky. And in February she adopted a 1/2 Rex & 1/2 Flemish Giant baby boy 4 mos old, now named Ares, (a beautiful blue-grey) from a teen who advertised him to give away because he knew Ares needed more attention & couldn't afford to go to vet. My daughter immediately quarantined him & good thing, too. He had worms, & an eye infection & a very frequent sneeze. All of that has been taken care of & he just officially met his sisters the other day. They are all named after 2 Greek goddesses & 1 god. The girls are free roam & they come hop/ running when they see me. I have 2 human grandsons & I spoil them equally. Ares is getting used to me, slowly. He'll come around. The kid who had him tried taking what he thought was good care of him, but he didn't have him on the most nutritional diet, the wrong hay for his age, too many raw veggies, etc. My daughter is sorting his diet out & he's much healthier already. She's learning that boy bunnies are sure different than girl bunnies- lol! She didn't realize he would be so umm... humpy already. She already has a neutering appointment the first week of April when he's 6 mos. She's also in the process of potty training. Those bunnies are her world. Those are her kids. She's so protective of them, & worries over them like a human mom with bio kids. Her kids just happen to have long ears, soft fur, & they hop instead of walk. I can't even picture her without a bunny in her life, for the rest of her life. She recently bought a house on a small bit of acreage & it has a huge finished basement that she has transformed just for the buns. She calls it Bunderland!

She was all skin and bones, had bleeding sores on all feet and her belly and infections in her eyes and ears. She was scared and very angry and it took a lot of love and patience to gain her trust and get her healthy. The vet bills were huge, but she was worth it. At the same time I had Guinea pigs, birds, rats, a dog, a cat and a bat and she was friends with them all. She didn't like many people, I think she protected me against other people, but she was OK my kids and a few others. She was extremely smart and learned some really cool tricks, and luckily she wasn't destructive to anything in my house and she only used her toilet inside. She was healthy and active her whole life until she had a massive stroke and I had to let her go, almost 12 years of age. RIP my beautiful Twiggy 💖

What can one say about this bunny? Except WOW!!! Just WOW!!! I can't imagine most people could ever believe a rabbit could be possessed of nothing less than what appears to be not only a high level of intelligence (and perception) but also consistently demonstrable "type-A" behavioral traits! WOW!!! Just WOW!!! As an armchair naturalist and amateur "Skinnerian" behavioral psychologist (who loves cute bunnys!!!).I would think it's a safe bet that rabbits are among the most vulnerable, if not the MOST vulnerable animals in their natural habitat. I'll go out on a limb and say rabbits have got to rank at the very bottom of the food chain and a big part of the regular diet of everything that runs, flys, swims, slithers or crawls. Any carnivore quick enough (and smart enough to catch) In their natural habitat because of their status as a prey animal they are forced to keep their survival skills sharp or be eaten by practically every other living thing. It cannot be easy to be a rabbit struggling to survive in the wild. Everybody knows rabbits run fast but that may not be enough to stay alive. We don't realize in order to survive as a food source they've also evolved to become a remarkably intelligent, even an especially cunning and adaptable species. Consider: "When a fox chases a fleeing rabbit the fox is only chasing it's dinner but the rabbit is running for it's LIFE!!" Thus, there aren't too many slow unintelligent bunnies around! Miffy, like every other rabbit in captivity or in the wild came from a long line, a legacy of survivors that had the capacity for speed but also intelligent behavior. So, be kind to rabbits!!
