Had a bit of a winner yesterday, I converted one of my Xbox One 1540's into a complete Forza edition with the petrol blue case and one of me mates came round and I pulled out £120 and had it off me there and then... Cost me £4 for the console, few quid for the casing, new hard drive and job was a good 'un as it has a 1tb SSD inside as well... so today just wired up my £4.99 Xbox One 1540 and going to find another limited edition shell hehehehe Still a lot of interest in the old 1540's which can run most games the S and X can but only in 1080p as opposed to the 4K the S and X can, 1080p does me fine, if I wants 4K I plays on me PC :D

question out of curiosity (mainly because i know the camera on the scope is only for us and it doesn't impact your view) is it possible to change any of the settings on it to drop the brightness, or contrast to try and reduce the glare to help with the flux or solder? It is still enjoyable to watch as it is, but if it can be done without making it worse for other sections it would elevate it higher for me at least. Love the videos!

with the HDMI rebuilding of traces is it possible to use conformal coating to hold them in place then scrap down to the metal again sort of a reverse of the manufacturing or is that to much extra effort?

I have a question about this type of repair. The engineers that design those circuits add length to all those traces that why they look squiggly as to make each trace exactly the same length for timing , does adding your wire that’s not the same length affect the timing of these circuits ?
@ifixorfreerepair30225 ай бұрын
If it does, it's not normally visually noticeable. Have done dozens and dozens of HDMI trace repairs and all worked perfectly normally and none have come back with customer complaints. So yes, you're absolutely correct the squiggles are there to maintain a certain length, but apparently it's not as necessary as the engineers believe, at least not in the real world.
@TheCod3r5 ай бұрын
Yeah, as ifixorfree says, the squiggles are there for timing reasons. Generally speaking, it shouldn't make a difference, but as you see in the video, I make sure to adjust my wires so they're all very close to each other. According to HDMI specifications, the traces must be no more than +/- 0.3mm in length different to the positive/negative counterpart on data lines. Generally, though, unless they're massively different, it'll work just fine

Hi Phill, I find this type of repair very frustrating! It takes so long to fix those traces. I'm wondering if it might be more practical to design a flexible PCB with all the HDMI traces, so we could simply place it on the board and solder the correct points. After that, we could solder the HDMI port onto the flexible PCB. Of course, each console would require a different flexible PCB, but it could reduce the repair time. Does that make sense? What do you think?
@TheCod3r5 ай бұрын
Hey bud. Yeah I've been considering designing one myself to be honest. It would make things easier long term
@petermetro46865 ай бұрын
same thought, laser cut copper traces with an adhesive back ?
@luiz.aquino5 ай бұрын
@@petermetro4686 , that's another valid idea. I think the key feature is the ability to solder some kind of "patch" onto the board, so all the HDMI traces are fixed at once.

KZbinr's making most of their money off of their channel tend to price lower. Which is fine except for those of us that actually have to pay our mortgages, car insurance, car payments, health insurance ( health ins is currently close to $16,000/yr for my family). Just to cover me health insurance at Phil's rates would be 266 repairs going to just that. The few customers that mention KZbin channel pricing to me I tell them to go ahead and mail it to the KZbinr....lol. Also must say, those that have taken my advice and mailed to a popular channel repair facility, 100% no fixes, all charged almost $100 plus mailing (5 and counting).....
@TheCod3r5 ай бұрын
While I agree with ifixorrepair (and you) people won't pay that in the UK. There's a repair shop on every corner. £60 ish is the average price here and I'd hate to charge more just because I'm well known on KZbin
